Hands down, the closest color match I’ve ever stumbled upon. I swatched the product over my tattoo, and voila, it was nearly invisible under this potion’s full-coverage magic. But it’s not just about the aesthetics, of course. This foundation is like that cozy blanket on a chilly evening: comforting and lightweight. My skin drinks in its goodness, making my face radiate a glow that screams, ‘I got my beauty sleep.’ Oh, and the age-defying perks: who needs filters when fine lines play hide and seek underneath this foundation?

When it comes to lip care, I’m what you’d call a self-confessed aficionado, and this 1000 Roses Lip Sleeping Mask from Andalou Naturals has undoubtedly won a prime spot in my nightly skincare routine. Slathering it on is like treating my lips to a lavish spa day, with its thick, rich, Vaseline-like texture that feels nothing short of a luxurious cocoon. I have to say, it’s a solid dupe for some of the higher-end lip masks, and that’s something I appreciate. In fact, as I type these words, it feels like I’m wearing an invisible shield on my lips that's locking in moisture. The scent is particularly delectable with its sweet, fruity aroma that’s not at all overbearing. Packed with antioxidant rich alpine rose stem cells, tempting fruit extracts, and rejuvenating rosehip oil, this mask doesn’t just promise; it truly delivers.

Wow, this Scalp Relief Tea Tree Leave-in Conditioner is incredibly refreshing to my scalp. From the get-go, the invigorating burst of tea tree oil and mint swoops in, transforming my scalp into a cool, calm oasis. Seriously, if my scalp could sigh in contentment, it would. Now, while the applicator leaves something to be desired, the formula itself is a winner. I’ll likely swap this product into a more precision-friendly bottle with a nozzle. It’s perfect for giving protective styles, like locs or goddess braids, that refreshing sensation they yearn for. While the tea tree scent is a bit more powerful than I prefer, its lightweight touch and cool demeanor didn’t irritate my sensitive scalp in the least. Plus, the incredible blend of coconut oil, biotin, and other hair-loving champions not only tame the wild frizz of my hair but also strengthens and adds a lustrous bounce to my curls.
KISS COLORS AND CARE Braid Charms, 18-pc - Retail Value $2.99

These Braid Charms from Kiss Colors and Care are a game-changer. The lightweight feel of these is a saving grace because the last thing we need when rocking our protective styles, especially locs, is any additional weight pulling us down. It’s very simple to apply these, opening and closing easily while remaining sturdy. My personal fave is the gold charms; they add a little spice to any style, taking it from bland to BAM. They are incredibly versatile and budget-friendly, which I appreciate.

Kiss Colors and Care Silky Satin Edge Scarf feels luxurious to the touch. While I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t lay my edges often, when the opportunity arises, this scarf will be my go-to. The scarf is a good size, allowing me to wrap it securely around my head, ensuring everything stays right where I want it. I appreciate the style versatility it offers as well, and it’s a great product to have on hand for those days when I’m feeling more adventurous.

This Tint Up in Jet Black from Kiss Colors and Care is quite a unique addition to this box. I don’t yet have the need to touch-up my hair, and even when I do, it probably won’t be a priority for me. In fact, I’m eagerly waiting for Mother Nature to grace me with a glorious silver ‘fro in my older age. However, I must say, this little bottle still caught my eye due to the goldmine of ingredients it contains. Argan oil, olive oil, collagen, and keratin? It’s more like a hair health potion! The easy-to-use nozzle offers the precision you’d need when applying this, and it’s the cherry on top. While this particular product might not be for me, I’ll be passing this along to my mom. She’s all about that at-home root touch-up life, and this is just what she needs. So, if you’re looking to spice up your hair game, maybe it’s time to give into the ‘tintation.’
RED BY KISS Crystal Charcoal Detangle Brush, 1-pc - Retail Value $5.99

I’m on the fence about this Crystal Charcoal Detangle Brush from Red By Kiss. I’ve always been a bit wary of these types of brushes. Flashback to the one occasion I tried a brush like this and ended up getting it swallowed up by my curls. This brush, however, contains charcoal, which allows for a little scalp detox perhaps, and rids hair of impurities in general, which is a bonus. So, I gave this brush a fair chance. I have to say, it did untangle my maze of hair, at least until around mid-length. When it came to the ends of my hair, I found solace in my trusty comb. Give Grandma a handle, please! My thumb was cramping up while brushing through my hair with this palm-sized brush after just a few minutes. And while I was impressed by the reduced hair fall-out compared to when I use my comb (maybe I’m a bit comb-aggressive, LOL), the sensation of this brush against my hair? Not the kind of soothing serenade I want to hear often. The bristles honestly handled any tangles better than I envisioned, and overall, I imagine this would work wonders for many with diverse hair textures like mine.
Verdict
This was a good month for Cocotique! The highlight for me was Andalou Naturals’ lip mask, which was like a royal treatment for my lips, turning them into a velvety dream by dawn. Diving headfirst (quite literally) into Pharm to Table’s leave-in conditioner, my hair felt like it had just taken a refreshing minty plunge, and without any irritation despite the abundant scent of tea tree oil. Mineral Fusion’s foundation was an excellent color match for my skin tone, and the full coverage is highly appreciated.
Meanwhile, Kiss Colors and Care did not come to play! Their braid charms are perfect for decorating your hair, making every style feel like a work of art. The edge scarf is a wonderful accessory to have on hand, while the jet black tint is perfect for any at-home root treatments. Lastly, the charcoal brush from Red by Kiss… I’ve got a bit of a love/hate relationship with this, but I must admit that it performs rather well if you take your time with it and may prove successful for a diverse array of hair textures. Overall, I thought this was a good box with a variety of products, and the value is certainly there.
