Inside the October/November 2023 Box
Love Goodly items always come packed neatly in a small cardboard box, with recyclable paper sizzle padding the items. It's a simple but thoughtful presentation. Clear the sizzle aside and you'll get your exciting first peek at what the month holds.
Info about each product is listed inside the folded card. Here you'll also find a little about which charity this month's box supports, plus a 15% a discount code for purchases made from their shop. The Love Goodly shop is finally back open after a long wait while they transferred inventory to the NOVICA warehouse. Hooray! Typically the month's products are available in the shop a little after the box launches, so if you need to re-up on a product you fell in love with, it'll be there waiting for you to buy with your 15% discount.
Earth Harbor Sunstone Hair Revive Elixir, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $3o
Over my five years of living in subscription box heaven, Earth Harbor has become a skincare darling that I'm always, always happy to receive. Their product line must be eternal, because I don't think I've ever encountered a repeat. And, following suit, this is my first time encountering their hair revive oil. On paper, it's what dreams are made of: "Fortify, nourish, and revive dull or damaged hair using superfood nutrition of Seaweed and Coconut, anti-pollution properties of Jasmine and Calendula Flowers, and ultra-rejuvenation of Carrot Seed and Jojoba Oils."
In reality, I'm someone with very fine hair that typically looks oily by the 2nd day, no matter how much dry shampoo I use, so a hair oil kind of scares me! Beauty buffs insist that those with oily hair actually benefit from adding a quality oil into their rhythm—that their scalp is overproducing oil as a way of overcompensating for what it's lacking.
So, I figured this was my chance to try it! The scent of this elixir is pretty neutral and the consistency is light. After one application and wash, I can at least attest that it didn't make my hair more oily. I did shampoo twice just to be thorough, and I'll be curious to see if this oil changes my hair's natural oiliness long-term.
Willow Collective Headband + Reusable Face Round – Retail Value $15.99
This skincare duo comes with an adjustable headband and reusable round. The product description says it's eco-friendly, but there's no mention of what materials, it's made out of, or why/how it's eco-friendly. I do trust Love Goodly to source honest, ethical brands, so I'm willing to take their word for it.
The cotton round is pretty straightforward—it feels soft and fleecey. I have a set of bamboo rounds with a texture I like better, so I was glad this wasn't a full set.
The headband was too large for me. You can see in the second photo above that the Velcro section is just barely hanging on. Regardless, I prefer to clip my hair out of the way instead of using a headband, because a headband tends to squish my bangs.
Earth Harbor Glow Juice Refining Enzyme Mask, 2 fl oz – Retail Value $40
Back to the Earth Harbor love fest, this enzyme mask is mesmerizing! Before we even get into the benefits, the color and jiggle are pretty epic. As for its purpose, it's a fast-acting AHA/BHA gel mask—which, for newbs like me who don't know what that is, is a blend of healthy acids that are meant to exfoliate and promote cell turnover. I'm seeing that the AHA/BHA combo can be powerful, but this one is quite gentle. It can be used as either a mask or a spot treatment for pimples.
I can't speak to it for spot treatment just yet, but I will say that ask a mask-ambivalent person, this is one I can definitely get on board with! First of all, it's not gloopy to apply; it's light and cooling. But also, you can see and feel the effects of this mask after only 3-5 minutes, which is totally my speed. I loved how my skin felt after wearing this mask for a few minutes and taking a quick rinse. No mess, just glowy goodness!
Liplove Rose Glow Serum, 5mL – Retail Value $13
Next up is this little roller filled with rose-infused oil. It looks like a tiny perfume bottle, but it's really a moisture bomb for lips, under-eyes, hands, cuticles, or whatever else you want to use it for. I love an all-purpose hydration situation! I saw a reviewer of this product say they love it on their eyebrows and that struck me as pretty genius. I put it right on my lips and it felt delightfully slippery until soaking in. While it does have a few little rose petals floating around, it doesn't have a rose scent, so it's tasteless on the lips. Loving it!
Earth Harbor Azure Regenerative Neck Creme, 2 fl oz – Retail Value $48
If you're a VIP subscriber, you'll find one more full-size item in your box: this neck and chest creme from Earth Harbor. Its loaded up with Seaweed Amino Acids, Copper Peptides, and lots of botanical actives. The scent is so light it could truly be considered scentless, the texture is somehow simultaneously light and peaky without being whipped. The goal is to reduce fine lines, dryness, and dullness, and promote firmness. Personally, I always spread my face moisturizer on my neck and chest and have a hard time introducing a separate neck and chest cream, though this lovely one almost makes me want to change my mind.
Before we move on to our wrap-up, I want to give a shout-out to the long list of "good" that Earth Harbor can promise in every product they make. It goes above and beyond the usual Love Goodly checklist, and feels worth noting here:
Purely Natural · Ethical · Sustainable · No Synthetics · Vegan · Cruelty-Free · 100% Non-GMO · 94% Organic · Nontoxic · Fair Trade · No Gluten Added · No Soy Added · No Fillers · Plant-Based · Food-Grade · pH Optimized · Scientifically-Proven Ingredients · Therapeutic-Grade · Zero-Waste · Woman-Owned · Small Batch Made By USA Mermaids · 1% For The Planet®
Verdict
I'm thrilled with this installment of Love Goodly! They've featured a brand that has always done me right, and filled out the curation with some additional pieces that are coherent. The headband and cloth round, while ultimately items that didn't work for me, are a great duo that just make sense a beauty box. The rose oil roller is really versatile and such a nice experience. My favorite item of the box was the mask, which is a big deal coming from me! The hair oil gave me the opportunity to take a stab at a beauty theory I've always been curious about. The neck and chest cream might not end up making the cut in my regular routine by virtue of being an extra step, but it's one I'll feel really good gifting.

That breaks down to $9.79 per item. The total retail value inside the VIP box is $146.99.
