First Impressions
How cute is the crystal-covered tape that wraps this sturdy box? Such a lovely presentation!
The crystal was carefully packaged: nestled in several feet of packing paper and enclosed in bubble wrap. So it’s not surprising that it arrived in perfect condition!
Enchanted Crystal includes two inserts in their monthly subscription box. The first uses a QR code to link to a letter in their blog. In the October post, Enchanted Crystal shares that not only are they rearranging their shop to accommodate new crystals from the Denver Gem Show, they’re sprucing up their logo as well. I’m always excited to see what new goodies will be on their way to subscribers!
The second insert details October’s star crystal: Veracruz amethyst. The inserts are fabulous because they give the history of the stone as well as the metaphysical properties. I’ll share that if you’re like me, and prone to losing inserts, the same information can be found in their Crystal Library.
The Crystals
Quartz Points And Black Kyanite (Bonus Crystals)
Each month, Enchanted Crystal includes a small collection of bonus crystals and stones. I look at these extras as an appetizer; a little taste to get you hungry for more! The bonus crystals I received this month were three pieces of Iceland spar and three pieces of fire agate.
According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, Icelandic spar “...is formed through a process called sedimentation, where calcium-rich waters deposit calcite crystals over time….Icelandic spar is transparent and colorless, allowing light to pass through it creating a double refraction effect.” What that means is that if your piece of Icelandic Spar is clear enough, you might be able to see the effect by looking through it onto another object. This made it very difficult to photograph, but it’s an interesting stone to look at. “Metaphysically, Icelandic is associated with clarity and insight, helping to clear mental fog and enhance focus. The double refraction effect is said to symbolize the ability to see different perspectives and find balance in life. Icelandic spar is also considered a spiritual amplifier, enhancing one's connection to higher consciousness and aiding in meditation and spiritual practices.”
The three pieces of fire agate I received have a lovely rich orange color and are smooth to the touch which makes them feel interesting as you move them around your hand. I found myself rolling them around in my hand absentmindedly. Which turned out to be a bit of a stress reliever! Unfortunately Enchanted Crystal’s Library doesn’t have a listing for fire agate (or agate in general) but a web search turned up plenty of interesting information.
According to Wikipedia, fire agate is a type of chalcedony and is considered a semi-precious gemstone found in Mexico and the Southwestern United States. It was formed through volcanic activity. According to Crystal Stones, metaphysically, fire agate “...is generally considered a stone of courage, protection, and strength. It is believed to help its wearer overcome fears and obstacles and provide stability and security in difficult times ... In addition, fire agate is thought to have a grounding effect, helping to balance and align the body’s energy centers. It is often used in meditation and spiritual and physical energy practices to help connect with the earth and promote feelings of calm and tranquility.”
Now, on to the main event!
Veracruz Amethyst
This month’s featured crystal is Veracruz amethyst; a highly sought-after variety of amethyst found in the Los Vigas mine in Veracruz, Mexico. According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, it’s prized by crystal collectors because, “It is known for its exceptional clarity, vibrant pink or purple color, and often remarkable prismatic crystal formations.”
I received two large pieces of this stunning crystal. I just love their soft color and the fact that they look so different depending on how you hold them. I love to turn them in different directions and admire the way that light reflects from their natural facets.
The Crystal Library adds that, “Metaphysically, Veracruz amethyst is believed to carry the properties of amethyst, which include spiritual protection, intuition, and higher consciousness. It is said to stimulate the third eye and crown chakras, promoting intuition and spiritual insight. Like many amethyst varieties, it is also believed to have a calming and soothing energy, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and promote relaxation.”
The Verdict
October’s box was just lovely! Not only do the crystals look gorgeous and unique, their metaphysical properties are fascinating.
The bonus crystals were really interesting. The unusual optical properties of the Icelandic spar is incredibly cool. And the fire agate has such a vibrant color that it adds a vivid pop to my collection.
But the star of the show is the Veracruz amethyst. It doesn’t disappoint. I especially love the amethyst crystal that still has the matrix on it. It looks like it was pulled directly from the Earth, untouched by man. The fact that these crystals look stunning, without any interference from humans, blows me away. I’m constantly amazed by the beauty of the natural world. And that’s what the Enchanted Crystal box provides: a way to admire nature and bring it into our lives.
If you’re interested in crystals, the monthly box is a great place to start your collection. As for the value, considering the fact that shipping is included in the $16 cost, I feel that the subscription price is a very good deal.
I’m always excited to see what this box will contain and what beauty and knowledge lie within it!
