First Impressions
October’s theme was: "Death Do Us Part” which is an homage to the animated film, “The Corpse Bride.”
Death Do Us Part
Little Miss Living - Shimmer Petal Perfume - Retail Value $10.99
This bottle of shimmer perfume is the full- sized item in the October box. It has a great scent and looks lovely with the real flower petals floating in it. I’m happy to report that the shimmer is so subtle that it can be worn even if you don’t want to sparkle! I’m a perfume addict but I’ve never been a huge fan of ones that don’t spray. So I intend to mix this one into a container of their unscented whipped cream.
It really does smell amazing. According to Fortune Cookie Soap, FCS, for short, the scent is: “A frightful blend of fig leaves, sweet orange, dark plum and juicy blackberries billow around withering rose petals, geranium and hyacinth with bewitching warm musk, iris, caramel and amber.”
You Set Me Free - Wax Tart
This little butterfly wax tart is so adorable that I didn’t want to melt it! FCS really puts in a lot of effort into ensuring that everything they make looks as good as it smells! But melt it, I did. It was fantastic and I’m happy to see that they have containers of them for sale on their website.
According to the FCS, the scent has: “...hints of dark gardenia, sweet ylang ylang, jasmine and orchid petals with a fluttering of amber, patchouli, sandalwood and vanilla musk.”
Young Lovers - Cuticle Oil
I play with nail polish which means a lot of (skin irritating) acetone. Plus, winter is especially hard on my hands. So, I’m always excited to receive cuticle oil and all the ones I’ve tried from FCS have been fantastic. This one is no exception.
It smells lovely and is very moisturizing. According to FCS, the scent of this cuticle oil is: “A soft, earthy aroma of ripe figs dances in the bright moonlight around sweet peaches and apricots.”
Remains Of The Day - Goat Milk Bath Soak
This next item is one I’ve not seen done by FCS before. It’s a goat’s milk bath soak. I know that goat’s milk is very soothing and moisturizing, so a bath soak featuring it sounds fantastic. I opened the bag to smell it and was pleasantly surprised to find cute little bones (I’m assuming they are made from soap).
While I loved the scent, I was feeling generous so I let my dad try it out; he’s a bath bomb addict so this seemed like a fun treat. The next day he reported that it smelled and felt great but he didn’t follow the directions to sprinkle a small amount into the water. He dumped the whole bag in. And much to his chagrin (and my amusement), it left a subtle sparkle on his skin! Of course he didn’t notice right away so he spent the day sparkly! Sorry, dad!
According to FCS, the scent is: "...a jubiliciously lovely warm blend of bergamot, lily of the valley, amber and musk….”
Moonlight - Sticker - Retail Value $2.99
Each month, FCS makes a few small stickers that fit the theme. They put one in each box they send out. This month, the sticker I received was shaped like a full moon with a quote from the film. FCS has really improved their stickers; the designs are more vibrant and the new shapes are really fun!
To buy the other sticker designed especially for this month, look here. Both were designed by FCS with graphics and quotes that are worthy of a place in your sticker collection.
The Verdict
Fortune Cookie Soap’s October box is such a fun way to sample this new, limited availability collection. Also, though most of these are labeled as deluxe samples, FCS is very generous with the amount they give of each item.
If you’re a fan of “The Corpse Bride” or just bath and body products in general, you are going to need to grab the collection of full size goodies!
I’ve been a subscriber of the Fortune Cookie Soap Box for years. I absolutely love it and look forward to each month’s collection of goodies. I’m signed up for their famous Christmas box of festive, full-sized items. I’ll be sharing it when I receive it in December; keep an eye out!

However, all of these items shown above, and many, many more full-size items from the “Death Do Us Part” collection are available here.
Value Breakdown: The box costs $19.95 (including shipping), which means each of the 5 items (including the sticker) cost an average of about $3.99 each.
