First Impressions
The classic white Beauty Heroes box was larger than usual this month—oh the anticipation!
I opened it up to find a trio of Blüh Alchemy beauties, and I felt like things had come full circle. I remember reading Megan's review of different Blüh Alchemy products back in September 2022 and thinking, wow, I hope one day I can care for my skin with incredible products like this. And here I am! Beauty Heroes, being wonderful as always, provides us with detailed info about each product and a suggestion for how to work these new things into a routine with what you already have from them.
The Products
Blüh Alchemy Body Brush - Listed Value $28
Hi, so, I'm here to tell you about the epic showers I've been taking all week. It starts with dry brushing, which I have long been curious to try for the longest time but had yet to. It has the known benefits of removing dead skin, improving circulation, and stimulating the lymphatic system. And now that I've given it a go, I've got to say, it's intense! You brush in short strokes toward your heard, starting at your ankles and working your way up, and incorporating your chest and arms. You can do this every day or two, and man, if I could stick to a rhythm that consistent, just imagine how my skin would feel! For now I think I'll take baby steps and try for once per week.
This body brush is made with beechwood and sisal fibers from the agave plant. They've been sustainably sourced, and the wooden handle is of beautiful quality.
Blüh Alchemy Phyto-Enzyme Body Polish, 200 mL - Listed Value $65
The next step to the body care we're provided this month is this body scrub. It's a new Blüh Alchemy product, and in fact, I can't even find it on their website yet. The organic sugar granules of this scrub are submerged in a blend of castille soap and buriti oil, the latter being "packed with beta-carotene to protect the skin and encourage cellular turnover." Guys, the experience is a pleasure. It's suggested to turn the shower off when you use this body polish so that water doesn't get in the jar, and so you can take your time massaging it onto your skin before it's rinsed off. I tried this the first time around but then the next time I just grabbed a tiny bowl and slung a couple of fingerfuls in, and placed it on the edge of the shower, and when I was ready to use it I just stepped out of the water. This way I didn't get goosebumps!
The exfoliating granules are pretty chunky, and as I apply it to my skin I find that they cluster. What ends up being spread over my skin, then, is largely oil. But it's wonderfully rejuvenating. The entire affair, in fact, is quite oily—as you can see from the second photo above, that beautiful warm-toned oil finds its way on the outside of the jar. It's not leaky with the lid fully closed, but you'll want to keep a washcloth nearby for wipe-ups.
Blüh Alchemy Active Relief Body Oil, 4 oz - Retail Value $68
To follow this lovely one-two punch of exfoliation up, we're sent another oil-forward skincare gem. The info card enclosed in the box shares that "high amounts of beta caryophyllene, a molecule that engages the cannabinoid receptors in the skin, signal the body to produce beta-endorphins, inspiring a sense of calm." Sign me up! Some of its superpower ingredients include copaiba oleoresin, hinoki oil, arnica oil, holy basil, peru balsam, and tamanu oil—a whole bunch of oils I've never heard of but that I can attest have together created the perfect blend.
This oil is ready and rarin' to drop on an into the skin. The final phrase of the Beauty Heroes description of this product is "The hypnotic aroma is a lingering gift." That seemed a little hyperbolic to me. But, no. Oh no. It is the most "lingering gift" imaginable. When I took a whiff of this oil from the bottle, it smelled nice in a vague way. When I rubbed it between my hands and onto my body, I thought, Oh! There's a vanilla hint! Then, promptly, Oh, there's a surprisingly smoky scent...then musky, then cinnamon, then some unique combination of them all that endures—truly—through the rest of the day. It's unfathomably peaceful.
Verdict
Beauty Heroes has gracefully landed us at the end of the year with a trio of geniunely caring skincare. Longtime Beauty Heroes subscribers know and love Blüh Alchemy's Cellular Extracted botanicals as bioactive solutions. Those (like me) who are new to this brand this month have an instant understanding of why. The deep exfoliation, followed by deep nourishment, and the lingering scent are simply brilliant.
The Beauty Heroes subscription costs $58.95. This box contained $161 worth of high-quality skincare. Such a steal for some truly stellar products!
