There were some hiccups this month, and one issue was my fault. The other was a glitch in their software platform.

Here's the deal: when it's time to get your new set, RB presents you with three different options—most are from your favorites list. You then have 24 hours to confirm the set or swap out pieces. This time there appeared to be a glitch in the system because every time I tried to swap out a pair of Kendra Scott earrings that I rented in the past, they would reappear. After many tries, I gave up and confirmed the repeat set. After all, they're very versatile and pretty, but I've rented them before!

Rocksbox is a jewelry styling and rental service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy whatever they love at a discounted price. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your ever-growing wish list. Members can keep and wear the three pieces they receive for as long as they want, or they can switch out sets whenever they'd like. Rocksbox also offers a monthly credit so you can buy the pieces for less.

Concerned about cleanliness? Each piece is sterilized with alcohol jewelry cleaner using medical grade products and handled with jewelry experts wearing gloves.

This is a review of the monthly plan for $21, which includes shipping to the US only.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Just like other subscription boxes, when I signed up for Rocksbox I had to set up a style profile that asked me questions like my metal preference, and which necklace, earring, bracelet, and ring styles I liked the most.

Let's check out this month's delivery!

What I Received

Kendra Scott Colette Hoop Earrings - Retail Value $70, Member Price $70

About this item: These timeless Kendra Scott earrings are crafted in shiny 14k gold plating over brass. Lightweight and universally flattering, they measure at 1.26" in diameter and while they won't weigh you down, they will elevate your style!

Condition: Like new.

Review: I still love these shiny gold-tone hoops as much as the first time I rented them!

Lele Sadoughi Pearl Teardrop Hoop Earrings - Retail Price $145, Member Price $145

About this item: These wildly popular drop hoops by Lele Sadoughi  are crafted with 14k-gold-plated rings that frame a dangling faux pearl teardrop center with 14k gold plated round posts and links. They measure 2 1/4" by 1 1/2" and they are very heavy.

Condition: Perfect!

Review: At first, they seemed great, and I wore them out to two different events, but then they got REALLY heavy and almost tore my earlobe.

Lele Sadoughi Crystal Lily Earrings - Retail Value $168, Member Price $168

About this item: These Crystal Lily Earrings by Lele Sadoughi are crafted in a large, colorful lily shape in jet acetate with a round pave center. Measuring at approximately 3" x 2.5", they're a little clunky, but not very heavy.

Condition: Perfect!

Review: Love these earrings and sad I couldn't wear them out.

The Verdict

I love the Lele Sadoughi Crystal Lily earrings and couldn't wait to wear them throughout the holiday season, but they disappeared. I only wore them for the rental pictures, and I always place my jewelry in the exact same spot in my apartment, but when I went searching the next day, they were gone. I tore my place apart and checked the couch, under my bed, in my pockets, and even searched through some of Mr. HGL's stuff. I wondered if maybe he saw them and moved them, but he doesn't really carry things...he just throws them out of his way.

I had no luck, so I contacted Armorie and Rent the Runway to see if I accidentally placed them in one of the return bags—I believe this is what happened—and they said they'd reach out to me if they found anything. I'm still waiting for the earrings to reappear.

So, I put my tail between my legs and contacted Rocksbox to explain my dilemma and find out what I should do next. I was prepared to pay for the earrings, but I guess since this is the first time anything like this has ever happened, they told me not to worry about it.

I'm super thankful for their awesome customer service, and the response time was quick and very helpful. While I feel terrible that I lost the earrings, I still feel like they may reappear and in which case I'll send them back. I only wore them in my apartment, so where else could they be? Hmm.

Value Breakdown: Rocksbox membership costs $21 per month. At retail, the three pieces would've cost me $383. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing including the buy-all-three-items $10 discount, the $21 of Shine Credit (doesn't look like this applied this time), and my Rose Gold Rewards discount of $19.15 the total price for the three items goes down to $353.85.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Every box is different and packed based on the customer's tastes and what's available at the time. You can, however, help guide the Rocksbox stylists and add your favorite pieces to your wishlist!

If shopping were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. And while my bank account often feels the crunch, I just can’t stop buying secondhand clothing and accessories, under-the-radar designer goods, stuffed animal unicorns (I have about 75), and toys for my pet bunny rabbit. After 20 years of city slicking in NYC and DC, I now have a car and love to tour the Virginia countryside looking for vintage shops, undiscovered wineries and breweries, historic sites, and Thai restaurants—I’m addicted to Thai food. I never leave home without a spare phone charger because I love horror movies and therefore have an irrational fear of being stranded somewhere with a dead battery.

I would love to see more of that patchwork shirt you’re wearing with the hoops!

Happy New Year! It’s a Sachin & Babi dress for the next Armoire review! I’ll probably review it in two weeks since next week is RTR.
