First Impressions
The monthly Beauty Heroes delivery comes in a white box with a red-dotted sticker sealing it. Inside is protective sizzle and information about what you received that month.
This month they brightened things up with us using colorful botanicals from Free + True. This plant-based beauty brand focuses on the power of botanicals that can be used for simple, quick skincare rituals. This brand is based in NorCal and uses tons of botanicals that are locally grown. Everything they create is tested and approved by their in-house team of estheticians.
Those looking for a way to work these new products into a routine with the incredible products Beauty Heroes has sent you over past months can reference this card.
The Products
Free + True Milk + Tansy Bi-Phase Essence, 3.3 fl oz - Retail Value $68
Followers of my reviews know that I am easily wowed by skincare science and plant power. This bi-tonal toner is squarely in "wow" territory. It's incredibly eye-catching with its blue and white separation, which blends into a milky skincare delight when shaken. This Milk + Tansy essence is a hydrating oily serum toner made from natural oils and extracts that are promoters of hydration and reinforcers of the skin barrier. It contains a natural fruit complex of watermelon, apple, and lentil, and as it restores moisture in the skin, it graces your face with a brilliantly fruity scent.
Beauty Heroes consistently sends us brands that have thoughtful packaging, and that is never lost on me. Under the wooden lid of this bottle is a secure closure that I can't see ever leaking.
Toner is not a typical step in my beauty rhythm, and I also tend to have dry skin at this time of year, so I have not been using this product daily but rather peppering it in throughout the week. I have been noticing more redness than usual lately, which has been reduced after a couple weeks of using this toner. Yay!
Free + Clear Ramblin' Rose Hyaluronic Serum, 1.7 fl oz - Retail Value $68
To further boost the skin hydration, we have this hyaluronic serum. Woo! Its organic pomegranate juice replenishes hydration and infuses the skin with antioxidants, and its dual low-and-medium-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid offer a hydrating experience both deeper in the skin and on the surface layers. It's delightfully rose-scented, a longtime favorite smell of mine, but it's more complex than that, with earthy and fruity tones.
Here's a look at the bubbly serum that's rarin' to reduce puffiness and support you skin's elasticity and firmness.
Free + True Nature + Nurture Pure Guava Seed Oil, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $52
Last up is the oil that had my eyes popping out of my head. It's one of my favorite colors! It combines guava seed oil, which is rife with antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins A, C, and E, and more, with squalene, which is known to prevent trans-epidermal water loss. It's super-light and absorbent, not greasy at all.
How kismet was my sleeve color that day? Not surprising given that it's a product of guava, this oil has an extremely sweet, bright, and fruity scent. Honestly, I applied it to my face and had the sensation that an Orange Julius had exploded all over me in the best of ways. I must confess that the scent lingered around longer than I might have liked, and I had the odd sensation of it mingling with whatever I was eating. Unexpected! As a result I might not use this oil daily, but I will definitely be keeping it around for the right moments.
Verdict
Beauty Heroes brought the color, the bright scents, and the amazing plant-based ingredients this month with three wowing products that are unlike anything I've used before. The bi-phase toner is like a science experiment you can sink you face into, and I can't get over how refreshing it feels as it works to restore moisture and even the skin. The hydrating serum is a punch of pH-balancing botanicals that smells like a spa. The so-my-color guava oil is a little too aromatic for daily wear for me, but it honestly is an experience that breeds optimism in its hue and scent. What a bright spot in my month!
