Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $14 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.
This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so this review is for just one of the bag variations you might receive!
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).
First Impressions
It's almost Valentine's Day, and my February Ipsy bag showed up just in time to help transform my skin before my big February 14th date! Like I've mentioned in previous reviews, Ipsy was one of my very first subscriptions, and is still one of my favorites. Each month subscribers receive a makeup bag in addition to their items, and this month features the theme of "It's a Self-Love Affair". I am loving the silky pink ruched bag this month, especially because of the gold heart zipper pull and black ribbon. It's definitely giving off some Valentine's Day lingerie vibes tossed with lime green lining for an added edge! Now, let's see what this bag contains!
Also included is a product card that features tips to get your February red lip game on point, a QR code that links you directly to your personalized glam bag, and another QR code leading us to amazing deals on some favorite Black-owned and -founded beauty brands.
Now, on to the items!
Feel Beauty Probiotic Moisturizer, 15 mL - Estimated Value $14.40
As I head through my 30s, I find myself bouncing around with different moisturizers. Between my age and the dry Minnesota winter air, I am always on the look out for moisturizers that will help keep my skin hydrated, as well as keep fine lines at bay for as long as possible. Feel Beauty is a new brand to me and I was excited to try out this probiotic moisturizer. Featuring Lactobacillus Ferment, this really brings back my old hospital lab days, and I couldn't wait to see if it produced results. Unscented and creamy, this moisturizer went on easily and was of medium consistency. It promised to help smooth my complexion and boost firmness, and I have to say that it upheld its end of the bargain. Non-greasy in texture, this was perfect for applying before my makeup, and really softened my skin from the first use. Because only a small amount is needed, the deluxe size is enough to last a couple of weeks, and I am already impressed with the results.
Rose Inc. Tinted Serum, 5mL - Estimated Value $8.16
Rose Inc. is also a new brand for me and I was really intrigued by this little vessel of bubbles! Featuring sodium hyaluronate to help plump and smooth fine lines, this skin tint actually matched my face skin quite well and was interesting to use. The micro encapsulated pigments burst open when in contact with skin, and it blended in well. This replaced my foundation and created sheer coverage with a luminous finish. After applying the Feel Probiotic moisturizer, I applied this, and the results were astounding. I received #60 - Medium Skin Tone/Neutral, and it was a great match. Overall, I was impressed with the natural look it offered and how well it matched my skin.
Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Eye Mask Set - Estimated Value $5.50
Eye masks are always fun, and these are probably the prettiest ones I have ever received! This set of two Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Eye Masks are the item that I chose for myself this month, and I am so happy I did. Gold and shiny, these masks work to help brighten dark circles, reduce puffiness, plump fine lines, and soothe your skin using plant extracts, firming peptides, and hydrating amino acids. Usually my kids get scared when I apply face or eye masks to my skin, but this time they were jealous! A little self-care on a leisurely February day is just what I needed, and the results were small, but noticeable.
Lottie London Lip Oil - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $7.98
Even though our Minnesota weather has been a lot more mild than normal, my lips are still in need of extra hydration. While I have tried out Lottie Oil Slick in the past, this peach version is absolutely delicious! Packed with vitamins E and B, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, and omega-3, this lip blend is perfect for hydration and shine. While it doesn't offer any color, I appreciate the delicious peach flavor, and love the natural look it offers while being full size!
Kate Somerville Kx Bio-Mimicking Peptides Serum, 10 mL - Estimated Value $32.66
The last item I received this month was a bottle of Kate Somerville Kx Bio-Mimicking Peptides Serum. Deluxe mini in size, this serum works to increase skin firmness and elasticity as well as provide hydration. I currently use Kate Somerville Vitamin B3 and Vitamin C, and love the results I am seeing. After a few uses of this Bio-Mimicking version, I honestly do feel my skin is a bit more smooth, but at a pretty steep price point, so I'm happy to receive a sample of it here! The formula is almost colorless and scentless, and works well under makeup and before bedtime.
The Verdict
I love Ipsy Glam Bag and am always excited to see just what it will contain. Sometimes I take a peek at my spoilers, and sometimes I forget, but those never do the bag justice anyways. This month, I was pleasantly surprised to find a really great mix of skincare and makeup products. I have subscribed to a lot of makeup subscriptions, and that being so, I still received two brands I have never tried. My favorite items this month were the serum and eye masks, but I also really liked the lip oil, moisturizer and tinted serum. Honestly, I was happy with every item that was sent, and am very impressed with the $68.70 value! I am already looking forward to the March curation!
