For March we're treated to a trio from True Botanicals, a purveyor of clean skincare that's naturally biocompatible. Their skincare is sustainable, clinically proven, celebrity-lauded, and award winning. I'd like to offer a formal welcome to my bathroom counter to these beauties!
Those looking for a way to work these new products into a routine with the incredible products Beauty Heroes has sent you over past months can reference this card.
The Products
True Botanicals Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm, 3 oz - Retail Value $48
I've heard of cleansing balms but never had the pleasure of using one, and I must say the moisturizing properties are palpable. In one fell swoop this magical substance cleans away makeup, dirt, sunscreen, and impurities, leaving behind nothing but softness. Lactic acid and azelaic acid are in the formula to gently exfoliate, while ginger root, mandarin, and neroli oils come together to make the aromatic experience bright, earthy, and rich all at once. A joy.
The texture of this cleansing balm is soft and buttery, and I love that Beauty Heroes tosses a wooden paddle into our box when relevant. This balm offers such an elevated cleanse, and it's a treat to use on a regular basis.
True Botanicals Phyto-Retinol Sleep Serum, 1 oz - Retail Value $90
My evenings have been next-level spa status with this retinol sleep serum on hand (and on my face). In Beauty Heroes' words:
The True Botanicals Phyto-Retinol Sleep Serum is truly remarkable. It is one of the world's first skincare products formulated with Peptilium®, a breakthrough ingredient that has been clinically proven to work 2X faster and better than traditional retinol. This powerful ingredient helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve complexion radiance in lesser time than traditional retinol.
This creamy orange serum is a burst of aroma—I'm picking up on florals and herbs, basically a spa in a bottle—but according to the ingredients list, it's harnessing the power of green tea, cranberry extract, orange extract, lemon leaf oil, rosemary oil, and more to inform its amazing scent. It's suggested to apply this to your face and neck between cleansing and moisturizing, though I must say, my face feels appropriately moisturized with this alone.
True Botanicals At-Home Facialist Peel, 1 oz - Retail Value $65
This gel-like facial peel is our final item of the box, but just as special as the others. According to True Botanicals it's "one step to glass skin," with only 15 minutes of wear per week. It's an exfoliation powerhouse that's balanced by a particular electrolyte mineral complex meant to help draw moisture into the skin for a hydrated, glassy glow. This doesn't seem possible for a haggardly 34-year-old mother such as myself, but they have my attention!
I pictured a "peel" being something I would peel off and was curious to witness the transformation from serum to a firm peel-off substance, but alas, it's an acid peel made with a "concentrated blend of AHA, BHA, PHA and THX exfoliate the skin to visibly reveal a smoother, brighter, clearer and more even-toned complexion," and it's further punched up with the help of botanicals like aloe leaf juice, rosemary, and illipe butters to aid in the nourishing of skin. It has almost a menthol hint to it that makes it cooling and refreshing. After your 15 minutes has passed, you wipe it off with a warm, wet wash cloth.
Verdict
Beauty Heroes simultaneously amped me up (with breakthrough ingredients that put these products on the frontier of age-defying skincare) and calmed me down (with its ridiculously soothing scents by way of potent natural ingredients). I was and still am starstruck. I'm having the time of my life cleansing and hydrating with these amazing goods. And I'm intrigued to see how they'll serve me long-term!
