BREO BOX Review Spring 2024

March is here, and so is the Spring 2024 BREO box! While the official start of this wonderful season isn't until March 19, I always appreciate receiving a box earlier than expected, and couldn't wait to see what this season could contain. Read below to see what was included.

Packaged similarly to the Winter 2023 Box, the spring version also included two substantial cardboard boxes and a cloth sack. All items arrived safely in this packaging, and I couldn't wait to dig in! On a side note - these cardboard boxes are perfect for wrapping up gifts, and the bags have proven useful for hauling home dirty laundry from family vacations!

Nutr Plant Milk Machine - Retail Value $169

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this season's BREO box and discovered this humungous box! The largest item we received has a huge retail value (more than the cost of the entire box) and was quite intriguing. While I prefer cows milk, I do buy almond milk for smoothies and was a little excited to be able to make my own. Featuring three heat settings, this machine has an extremely sharp blade, and purees the ingredients for 5-20 minutes for fresh milk. We also received a small strainer, measuring spoon, and a recipe book for oat, almond, soy, and other nut milks.

This machine is beautiful. The black and rose gold design is very sleek and pretty and it was actually quite easy to use. I followed one of the recipes included in the recipe book and had a full cup of oat milk in about 6 minutes. Using only 2 tablespoons of oats (and a handful of pecans) along with a little honey and water, I was impressed with the smooth consistency this machine produced, and the fresh milk it created. The oat milk I tried was made at room temperature, so it pulsed for about 5 minutes. It is a little loud, but worked well. If you are someone that uses plant and nut based milks, this is a great way to create them yourself without additives and preservatives. For those that don't utilize these type of products, you have a really great gift on your hands!

UPDATE: This season BREO allowed some customization - subscribers could choose between the KeySmart SmartCard OR the Nano Torch XL. However, for the purposes of this review, I received both.

KeySmart SmartCard - Retail Value $39

The next item we received is designed for Apple users. This SmartCard gives you easy tracking and "left behind" notifications through the Apple's "Find My" app. Small enough for a wallet, jacket, bag, laptop, or purse, you will never lose your important things again! I am an Apple user, so this was a great inclusion for me. It only took a few seconds to set up, and the stress of misplacing my purse is gone! If you are not an Apple user, don't fret - after you place your order, shoot BREO box an email, and they will send you an alternate product to replace this.

KeySmart Nano Torch XL Flash Light - Retail Value $19.99

My husband is an electrician and always has a flashlight handy, so I was excited to open up this Nano Torch XL Flashlight. Sleek and small in design, this little light features a pen clip for toting around, and has an adjustable focus! With 120 Lumens, this little LED light is quite bright, and it's bulb expectancy is 50,000 hours. Using two AAA batteries, (which are included), I am happy to have this tool in my kitchen drawer for when the need arises.

Pop It - Jar Lid Remover - Retail Value $12.50

The next item we received is on that was made in Britain and was designed to help open jars. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I haven't really had a use for this type of product, as I don't use a ton of these type of jars, and when I do I haven't had too much trouble getting them off. That being said, I wanted to try this to see how it would work. I tested it on a jar of Maraschino Cherries, and didn't really succeed. The directions are pretty simple, but what I didn't realize, is this actually pierces a hole in the top of the lid, which isn't great if you plan on storing the item in the refrigerator again. While I didn't have a use for this, my mother-in-law with joint problems might, so I will be passing it along to her with the note about the pin!

Statik Globo Charge Lite - Retail Value $16.99

When it comes to travel, I am definitely a homebody! I have only flown on a plane three times in my life, and left the country only once. With that being said, I may not have a use for the adaptations this plug-in we received includes, but it was cool to see! Featuring adaptors for the US, Australia, Europe, and the UK, you can use this in a variety of ways for a variety of charging. I love the fact that I can plug in 4 USB cords at once, and charge all of my devices. Great for those of you who do travel, this is a really neat device that doesn't take up a lot of luggage space.

ROCKETBOOK "Digitize Your Basic Whiteboard" Beacons - Retail Value $15.99

While I do work in education, I don't use a whiteboard very often, which is where these Rocketbook Beacons would be most helpful. Including four blaze orange "beacons", the purpose of these little, sticky triangles is to place them on the edges of your whiteboard, in conjunction with downloading the app. This then manifests a perfectly cropped, and colored diagram that can be sent to your entire class/staff/crew. Interesting in theory, I have a teacher in mind that utilizes a lot of whiteboard diagrams, and plan on passing these on to them.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

I have to admit, when I opened this season's BREO Box, I was quite delighted to see the large NUTR box included. With a retail value higher than the cost of the box with this one item by itself, I was left impressed. Does everyone like nut or plant based milk? No, so while it was a good fit for me, it may not be for everyone. The other items in the box were interesting and neat to try. While I loved the flashlight and smart card, the jar opener and Rocket Beacons will be passed along and make someone else happy. Overall, I was satisfied with this season's curation and am already looking forward to the Summer BREO box. What did you think of the Spring version?

I’ve been subscribed to breo since the second box (I believe) and I was really disappointed this month with the Nutr. A few months ago, they sent long-time subscribers an email with info about it and asked if we’d like to see it in a future box. I sent back an emphatic, NO. But now I have it. And I was really annoyed. Until today when my doctor implored me to remove all (cow based) dairy from my diet. He says it’s probably a huge cause of inflammation. So now I guess I’m happy with the box….!

So, to anyone else fighting inflammation related illnesses/disorders, perhaps look into using this thing, rather than gifting it (as I had planned to do).
