Ipsy Glam Bag April 2024 Review

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $14 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so this review is for just one of the bag variations you might receive!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

I was a subscriber to Ipsy when it was a relatively new subscription and I have to say, their bags have come a long way since the beginning! This month's style is my absolute favorite with the light blue stripes and peach lining. Not only is the design adorably chic, but the zipper pull is literally a fuzzy peach. Does it get any cuter?! Each month subscribers receive a makeup bag in addition to their items, and this month features the theme of "Welcome Home", which as a homebody, I definitely appreciate!

Also included is a product card that features tips to rewrite our beauty rules, the contents of this month's bag, and info regarding the mega drop shop that is scheduled for mid-April!

Now, on to the items!

Goldfaden MD Body Surge Hydrating & Restoring Body Moisturizer - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $8.84

With aging skin, I was really excited to try out Goldfaden MD's body moisturizer. I have read a fair amount of reviews in regards to this formula, and all have been good. With a light natural scent, this creamy lotion goes on smooth and evenly, without a greasy consistancy. Created with Soap Bark Extract, Kakadu Plum, and Watermelon Seed Oil, this brand was developed by dermatologist, which is something I appreciate. While a deluxe sample, this did contain more product than I was expecting, and I ended up using the majority of it on my neck and chest. Intrigued by the promising results, I am really contemplating buying the larger size. It was extremely hydrating and dare I say, skin tightening? Do I take the plunge?!

Tarte Big Ego Mascara - Deluxe Mini - Estimated Value $7.70

Another item that really had me intrigued was this Tarte "Big Ego" mascara. Mascara is one of the main staples I include in my daily make up routine, and I want all of the volume I can get. While I generally use the "Too Faced" brand, this version of Tarte may have swayed me their direction! With a fluffy, plush brush, this applies so easily and well. The long bristles help to coat all of my lashes and the formula is jet black, full, and creates a lot of length as well as volume, without creating clumps. The staying power is there too - I had no mascara crumbles throughout the day, and it didn't run or smear (even with the wind whipping and my eyes watering). And if the mascara itself isn't enough, check out that hot pink packaging - I swear it was developed just for me!

Elaina Badro Loose Powder in Light - Deluxe Mini

Setting powder is one of those things that I appreciate, but don't use all that often. While labeled as a deluxe mini, this setting powder was of decent size, and came in a light tone. Blending into my make up for a fine finish, I did notice a slightly more polished look. Easy to fluff on a brush, I do appreciate this for the sweatier months, but right now just haven't used it a ton. In regards to the value, I couldn't find this exact product anywhere online. I'm not sure if this is something new Elaina Badro is trying out, but after googling, I'm really curious about her make up brush line - it looks exquisite!

Dew of The Gods Amalfi Gold Hair Serum - Deluxe Mini - Estimated Value $10

In my 35 years, I have tried just about every hairstyle you can imagine. Back in my younger years, I had everything from a black pixie cut, to pink and blond highlights. I've had a few grey hairs spring up in the last couple of years, and now I am trying to take hair care very seriously. Because I use a flat iron almost daily, I am always on the lookout for a new heat treatment product, and by golly, this one works some magic. Made with Argan oil, olive oil, and other oils, a few drops of this serum leaves your hair shiny, soft, and protected. I have pretty fine hair, so using a ton of oil creates a terribly greasy look, but this serum seemed to give results without the grease. With a light scent, this gives off beachy vibes, all while restoring damaged hair.

Chica Beauty Mini Fiesta Eyeshadow Palette - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $15

The last item I received was actually the one I chose. This eyeshadow palette came with nine beautiful colors, five matte and four metallic. With neutrals and pops of color, this palette was a no-brainer as my choice. I love creating a smokey eye, and the glimmer of these metallics was just irresistible. I created a smokey eye with the neutrals here, but did add a pop of the green when we went out for date night. The formula itself was decent, and was very buildable. I was left impressed!

Verdict

I love Ipsy Glam Bag and always enjoy trying out new beauty products, especially when I get to pick one of the items! After a home-run of a box last month, I was really excited to see what could be in store for April, and while I only received one full-sized product, did appreciate the curation. The mix of prestige skincare, haircare, and makeup products was well rounded out, and at a great price. My favorite items were definitely the eyeshadow palette and mascara, but I really enjoyed using everything. For $14, you seriously can't go wrong! What do you think will be in store for the May curation?! I can't wait to see!
