First Impressions

Makeup Bag for Ipsy Glam Bag April 2024

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme is ‘‘Welcome Home.’’ The included makeup bag is adorable, with a cheerful blue-and-white pinstripe pattern. It’s giving retro beach / summertime vibes. I’m not exactly sure what the peach-themed zipper is supposed to evoke, but it’s a cute addition nonetheless.

Now, on to the items!

ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, 15 ml - Estimated Value $52.00

Front of Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream for Ipsy Glam Bag April 2024

I’m no stranger to Elemis products, and I’m always thrilled to see one of theirs included in a subscription box. This Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is an excellent addition to my skincare stash. I usually prefer a gel texture when it comes to my day creams, but since this product is water-based, it’s actually quite lightweight on the skin. After cleansing, I applied this cream to my face, and it left it feeling hydrated but not at all greasy, thanks to its airy texture. Bonus points for this cream having such a gentle, non-clogging formula. I also appreciate how lightly scented the product is. I normally prefer fragrance-free products, but this cream has such a slight floral aroma that it’s not intrusive and didn’t cause any issues for my sensitive skin (or nose). So, that’s a win-win for me.

ELIZABETH MOTT Sure Thing! Vitamin C Cleanser, 15 ml - Estimated Value $1.70

Front of Elizabeth Mott Vitamin C Cleanser for Ipsy Glam Bag April 2024

First off, I love the packaging of this Sure Thing! Vitamin C Cleanser from Elizabeth Mott. The formula has quickly become a favorite of mine, offering up a luxuriating experience with its lightweight gel texture. In fact, this exact texture is everything I look for in a face wash; it provides a thorough cleanse that leaves my skin feeling hydrated without any dryness or tightness. I like using this cleanser as a final step prior to washing off my makeup with an oil-based remover. Despite my skin being sensitive to Vitamin C, I was happy to find that this product didn’t cause any irritation. Now, the cleanser is indeed scented, but I have to say, the orange scent is pretty refreshing and more natural than chemical-smelling. But it’s something to keep in mind, especially if you’re sensitive to fragrances more often than not.

BILLION DOLLAR BROWS Billion Dollar Brow Lift, 4 ml - Retail Value $22.00

Front of Billion Dollar Brows Clear Gel for Ipsy Glam Bag April 2024

Clear brow gels are one of those products that have grown on me over the years, and this Billion Dollar Brow Lift from Billion Dollar Brows has earned a special place in my makeup bag. The clear gel works great for my brows, enhancing their natural color without overpowering. When I applied the product, the first thing I noticed was that it didn’t leave my brows feeling stiff, which is something I truly appreciate. I’ve tried some in the past that would dry down my eyebrows like hair gel and then flake off messily by the end of the night. But no such issues with this brow gel! After applying, my brows were still flexible even after drying down, which is perfect for all-day wear. This brow gel comes with a fine brush that allows for easy, precise application, along with even distribution, allowing for a ready-set natural look that holds to perfection.

ODACITÉ Brightening Serum, Vitamin C and E + Hyaluronic Acid, 4 ml - Estimated Value $10.40

Front of Odacite Brightening Serum for Ipsy Glam Bag April 2024

Oooh, I love a good brightening serum. I don’t believe I’ve heard of this brand Odacité before, so I was doubly interested in giving their product a try. I love the gel-like texture of this Brightening Serum, Vitamin C and E + Hyaluronic Acid. When I first applied this to my face, I was pleased to see how quickly it absorbed. The serum delivers a dose of powerhouse ingredients to even out the skin tone and regulate melanin while also working to boost collagen and infuse skin with ultimate hydration, compliments of the formula’s hyaluronic acid, which helps to lock in moisture. My skin is a bit sensitive to Vitamin C, especially at high doses, so this serum is something I’ll be using two or three times per week. I’m not a huge fan of the scent, but it’s not overpowering enough to be a dealbreaker.

SKONE COSMETICS Luxe Lip Liner in Mudslide, 1.5 g - Retail Value $18.00

Front of Skone Cosmetics Lip Liner for Ipsy Glam Bag April 2024

I always feel like my lips are a bit shapeless, and I’ve always wanted the cupid’s bow that some out there are lucky enough to have. Of course, I know how to fix this… Hence why lip liners are so popular despite myself never quite getting a handle on it (but I have been practicing). This Skone Cosmetics Luxe Lip Liner is a solid product. Despite the intimidating pointed tip, this liner was surprisingly easy to apply, gliding on smoothly and seamlessly. With a very precise tip minus the sharpness of a traditional pencil liner, this lip liner is impressive. It doesn’t drag across the delicate skin of my lips, which impressed me. Also, I appreciate that the shade ‘Mudslide’ works well for my skin tone.

The Verdict

This was truly a great month for Ipsy Glam Bag! The highlight for me was Billion Dollar Brows’ brow gel since it’s a staple I’ll get use from on a regular basis. Elizabeth Mott’s vitamin C cleanser was another win for me personally. I love a good cleanser, first off, and any vitamin C products that don’t cause me irritation is something I’m always after. I’m thrilled to continue my usage of Odacité’s brightening serum and see the progress over time. Elemis is always a brand I’m happy to see in a subscription box, and their pro-collagen day cream brings a spa-like experience, cloaking your skin in a moisturization bubble all day long. Lastly, the lip liner from Skone Cosmetics isn’t something I’ll reach for everyday, but it’s got a good formula and doesn’t drag along the skin, which I appreciate. Overall, I thought this was an awesome month. The products were nicely varied with an emphasis on skincare, which is my preference, and the value is definitely there.

IT”S FROM PEACH PUFF the PANTONE 2024 COLOR OF THE YEAR. OMFG you do NOT do your research do you????? The COLOR OF THE YEAR for ARtists which you are NOT.

Reply ButtonReply

I don’t know why the color of the year by Pantone matters to anyone… except maybe for snobby people calling themselves artists. This is a makeup bag for crying out loud. I do art and don’t give a crap about whatever group of people decided on whatever color. It’s pretty silly to rant about it. I know Ipsy likes to do themes and whatnot but at the end of the day, it’s a bag to carry stuff in… If they were trying to represent colors of clouds floating in a blue sky… why not just make it with images of clouds floating in the blue sky. I just see white and blue strips and a fuzzy peach. It’s not that deep to get that upset about it.

I tried to leave a comment about this, also, but mine never made it through, and my tone was much nicer. Lol!

I also mentioned that the blue and white stripes are supposed to represent the colors of clouds floating in a blue sky. All she had to do was look at the Ipsy site.

Naomi writes pretty good product reviews, but she doesn’t research, like you said, and she never comes back to reply to customers. Some of the fun of this site used to be the conversation with the reviewers, but not in this case. Most of the other reviewers respond to comments.
