First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives in a box with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other.

Woohoo! The box arrived in great shape this time and I was thrilled to open it up and discover 6 beauty items. I really needed new makeup brushes, so the timing couldn't have been better!

Now, on to the items!

Seraphine Botanicals Flawless Face Brush 3-Piece Set, 16 cm. - Retail Value $45

I'm terrible at washing my brushes...I eventually just throw them out (whoops). My most recent set was at the breaking point and maybe to the point where I'd give myself some weird skin condition So, when this new set arrived, the timing couldn't have been better! This luxe 3-piece set (contour brush, blush + highlighter, buff + blend) are cruelty-free, vegan and designed with synthetic, densely packed taklon bristles, a recycled wooden handle, and a rose-gold metal ferrule. TBH, I'm terrible at contouring and end up looking like a scary Snapchat filter.

Kaleido Cosmetics Luminous Blush, 5 g - Retail Value $15

Since I'm so pale (practically translucent), I'm always looking for a pretty blush that doesn't wash me out or make me look like a clown! Kaleido Cosmetics Luminous Blush in Felicity (a universal coral hue) delivered just what I wanted and needed. This radiant blush is subtle yet illuminating, with pigments that can be layered to achieve the perfect glow. Talc-free, paraben-free, vegan and cruelty-free, this blend-able and buildable blush is good for the animals and good for you too!

Here is a swatch of the Luminous Blush on my wrist and cheeks.

Nourish Naturals Creamy Vegan Lip & Cheek Stain, 0.07 oz. - Retail Value $22

This creamy lip and cheek stain delivers a healthy, natural-looking color without feeling sticky or greasy. While I initially tried it as a blush, I preferred the color on my lips because I felt like it wiped away my foundation. I got the Syrup hue, which was pinker than I normally buy, but the color looked great on my lips. Formulated with Shea & Kokum Butter and Marshmallow Root Extract, its hydrating, liquid-like formula melts into the skin and creates a natural-looking wash of color.

Kika Clear Lip Gloss, 0.17 oz. - Retail Value $13

Real talk here, I don't necessarily understand the point of this clear lip gloss. While it's got pretty packaging, glides on smoothly, isn't sticky, and delivers a nice shine, it doesn't add much else unless I'm wearing it as a topcoat to my lip liner. But anyway, it's moisturizing and formulated with antioxidants to shield your lips from everyday environmental hazards to help maintain a youthful appearance, and it since I don't like dry lips, I may add a swipe or three when I'm WFH.

Here's a swipe of the Kika Clear Lip Gloss layered on top of the lip and cheek stain (since you can’t tell otherwise). It does add quite a bit of shine!

Verdict

Fun and useful products this month. And while I've been wearing a lot of bright orange on my lips recently, I really like the pale pink cheek stain (maybe even more than orange!) and when it's topped with the gloss, it takes the look to a whole new level. The brushes are high quality, and the luminous blush is a winner too.

I'm glowing up this summer!

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $39.95 for a monthly plan

Value Breakdown:

  • Brush Set: $45
  • Luminous Blush: $22
  • Lip and Cheek Stain: $22
  • Clear Lip Gloss: $13

The total value of my box was $96, which is a pretty good value for a $39.95 box. Mostly because of the brush set.

If shopping were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. And while my bank account often feels the crunch, I just can’t stop buying secondhand clothing and accessories, under-the-radar designer goods, stuffed animal unicorns (I have about 75), and toys for my pet bunny rabbit. After 20 years of city slicking in NYC and DC, I now have a car and love to tour the Virginia countryside looking for vintage shops, undiscovered wineries and breweries, historic sites, and Thai restaurants—I’m addicted to Thai food. I never leave home without a spare phone charger because I love horror movies and therefore have an irrational fear of being stranded somewhere with a dead battery.

Love the color of Cheek/lip color on your lips. Nice to see a pink (vs reds). Looks really nice on you. BTW, Mary, thank you for showing the products, in use and not just packaging. You do great reviews.

Thanks, Jean! I am big fan. I might be switching over to pinks permanently. 😎
