First Impressions
The monthly Beauty Heroes delivery comes in a white box with a red-dotted sticker sealing it. Inside, both our products of the month fit perfectly.
For July we're treated to a trio of products from Sahajan, a plant-based skincare brand that's grounded in Ayurveda, a 5,000 year-old ancient science from India that is believed to be a key to wellness. Sahajan blends ancient and modern science using quality ingredients, and I'll add that the aromatherapy of the three products we were sent to try adds to their healing nature.
Beauty Heroes always includes this card showing one way of incorporating your new skincare products into a daily rhythm. Sometimes this card will weave in products we've received in past boxes on, but this month it features all Sahajan products. The last time Sahajan was featured in a Beauty Heroes box was May 2022, so some long-term subscribers might be familiar with other features on this list. All are currently available in the Beauty Heroes shop.
The Products
Sahajan Balance Toner, 120 mL - Retail Value $34
It might be a crime to admit this to this crowd since so many of you are experienced goddesses of skincare, but I didn't fully understand toner until a couple of months ago when my life was transformed by the Oio Lab one we were sent in the April box. You may recall the first couple of times I tried it I couldn't get over what I thought was a "wet dog" scent. But something changed in me (who can say what!) and now I love both the earthy aroma and the way it's clearly been assisting my skin in absorbing the incredible skincare products I'm using. Those products being a rotation of the last three months' Beauty Heroes deliveries. So the fact that I now have a re-up of toner is beyond thrilling to me.
Not only that, this Sahajam toner is like stepping into the spa. Its combination of moringa oil (which is very light!), orange, lemon, and bilberry extracts, and rose water are not only working to naturally exfoliate, balance, and calm my skin—they're doing the absolute most to put a smile on my face and soothe my whole nervous system with their beautiful intermingling of natural scents. New favorite skincare product unlocked.
Sahajan Ritual Body Oil, 100 ml - Retail Value $46
Not to keep name-dropping brands from previous boxes, but this body oil is taking me back to December 2023 with the Blüh Alchemy body oil that's been hydrating the heck out of my arms and legs. The similarity is in the scent, which both give me cinnamon-vanilla-patchouli vibes, but I will say that Blüh Alchemy one is a better fit for the deep dryness of winter, while this Sahajam oil is lighter and freer and more viscous so that it's a quicker-hitting rejuvenation for my arms and legs after swimming at the pool or being out in the sun.
I now have a summer oil and a winter oil that feel like close cousins. Such a treat!
Sahajan Ultimate Sleep Mask, 50 mL - Retail Value $52
This overnight sleep mask is a rich cream with a light, fresh scent that is meant to be applied generously before bed and rinsed off in the morning. I love this style of mask—one that works while you're peacefully asleep and lets the botanical ingredients strengthen and reinforce that skin barrier without interruptions. But for me personally, I've found that most night creams and masks end up being too heavy for my skin, and I wake up with blemishes—hmph. So this sleep mask will go on to be cherished and enjoyed by someone dear to me. Now who will it be?
Here you can see the wonderfully smooth texture of this night mask.
Verdict
Beauty Heroes costs $58.95. This box contained $132 worth of skincare products from Sahajan. I love that the spread this month is a variety of very usable, quality plant-based skincare goods that are also at a price point that's sustainable for easy restocking when you run out. This feels like a special everyday brand, and I can see myself enjoying Sahajan long-term. Thanks to Beauty Heroes for the intro.
