This is a review of the $42.00 Crystal Variety Box.
First Impressions
How cute is the crystal covered tape that wraps this sturdy box? Such a lovely presentation!
The crystals were carefully packaged: nestled in sturdy paper and (separately) enclosed in bubble wrap. Unsurprisingly, the crystals arrived in perfect condition!
Enchanted Crystal includes an insert in their variety subscription box. On it are several QR codes that link to various letters on their blog. One links to a letter to new subscribers, another to their Crystal Library and one to the current month’s newsletter.
In the May blog post, Enchanted Crystal shares that most subscribers received a Rhodonite palm stone this month. It adds that, “Palm stones are fantastic "pocket" crystals and one of our most frequently requested styles we share in our boxes. They are large enough to easily keep track of, and perfect for carrying out on a days journey.”
The Crystals
Bonus Crystals - Icelandic Spar & Ocean Jasper
Each month, Enchanted Crystal includes a small collection of bonus crystals and stones in their Monthly Box. For the past couple of months, they’ve also included bonus crystals in their Variety Box. The bonus crystals I received were three pieces of ocean jasper and two pieces of Icelandic spar.
The ocean jasper pieces are beautiful in their variety and a new addition to my collection. Unfortunately, Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library doesn’t contain a listing for ocean jasper, but I was able to find interesting information about the stone elsewhere.
According to The Crystal Council, “For so long this mineral has gone unfound due to it only being able to be seen at low tide…. Mining operations of ocean jasper was stopped in 2006 when the locality was deemed depleted, as well as heightened safety risks. All ocean jasper on the market today is either a back stock or has been hoarded by collectors and sellers for years. Ocean jasper activates and aligns our solar plexus, heart, and throat chakras. This highly energetic channel allows one the ability to combine their will with their emotions, pushing one to achieve joy, happiness and emotional stability.”
I’ve received Icelandic spar in a past box but it’s beautiful so I don’t mind a repeat. According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, Icelandic Spar, “...is formed through a process called sedimentation, where calcium-rich waters deposit calcite crystals over time….Icelandic spar is transparent and colorless, allowing light to pass through it creating a double refraction effect.” What that means is that if your piece of Icelandic spar is clear enough, you might be able to see the effect by looking through it onto another object. This made it very difficult to photograph, but it’s an interesting stone to look at. I tried to test the double refraction effect by placing the clearest piece over the insert that came in the box, I’m not sure that I saw anything unusual.
“Metaphysically, Icelandic spar is associated with clarity and insight, helping to clear mental fog and enhance focus. The double refraction effect is said to symbolize the ability to see different perspectives and find balance in life. Icelandic spar is also considered a spiritual amplifier, enhancing one's connection to higher consciousness and aiding in meditation and spiritual practices.”
A great start. Now, on to the main event!
The first package that I opened contained a Moroccan coral fossil. According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, “These fossils originate from coral that lived in the warm, shallow seas which once covered parts of Morocco millions of years ago. Over time, this coral was buried under sediment and underwent a process called fossilization, where the original organic material was gradually replaced by minerals….” The pieces sent out in Enchanted Crystal’s box this month come from the Sahara desert. I find it amazing that the hottest, driest place on Earth was once a thriving ocean, and my piece of coral fossil is proof of that!
The Crystal Library adds that, “In the realm of metaphysics, Moroccan coral fossils carry the uplifting energy of the ocean and are believed to embody the essence of life and vitality. They are seen as symbols of longevity and endurance, reminding us of the persistent flow of life and the power of nature's adaptability.”
Spanish Pyrite
This cube of Spanish pyrite is so unique. The cube form is very unusual and it’s so reflective; almost mirror-like.
Enchanted Crystal explains that, “These Spanish specimens often emerge as singular cubes or as groups of cubes showcasing their geometric beauty. The formation of pyrite in Spain typically occurs in sedimentary rock formations, where sulfur-rich fluids precipitate iron from the surrounding rock, creating pyrite crystals. The precise conditions in these regions, such as the specific chemistry of the surrounding rock and the temperature and pressure of the forming environment, contribute to the uniqueness of the Spanish pyrite...”
The Crystal Library adds, “In metaphysical practices, pyrite is revered for its symbolism of abundance, prosperity, and potential. Spanish pyrite, with its striking and precise crystalline structure, is believed to embody these qualities even more potently. It is often used as a talisman for wealth, attracting financial success and material abundance.”
Rhodonite Palm Stone
This rhodonite palm stone is stunning. The pink is so vibrant against the black background. The size and shape make it perfect to carry in your palm so it’s easy to keep it handy.
According to the May newsletter from Enchanted Crystal, “This crystal variety is a favorite due to it's rich contrast of reds, pinks, blacks, and greys within its matrix. It's not often you see this mixture of colors and shades in the world of crystals. The pinks and reds are a good reminder to find that spark of positivity during those sometimes darker moments in life.”The Crystal Library adds, “Metaphysically, rhodonite is hailed as a stone of compassion and emotional healing. It's believed to help heal past wounds, foster forgiveness, and enhance relationships through empathy and love. Known for promoting personal growth, it aids in reducing anxiety and bolstering confidence and self-esteem.”
Fire Quartz (Madagascar)
This next crystal is fire quartz, from Madagascar. It’s a clearish stone with cream and pinkish inclusions that made it difficult for me to photograph.
According to the Crystal Library, “Fire quartz from Madagascar, also known as hematoid quartz, intriguingly combines the qualities of quartz with the grounding presence of hematite. This gemstone forms when iron oxide (hematite) gets incorporated into quartz, creating fiery red and yellow inclusions that give it a distinctive, vibrant appearance. Unique to Madagascar's mineral-rich terrain, each piece of fire quartz is a captivating display of color and energy.”
Enchanted Crystal adds, “Metaphysically, fire quartz is celebrated for its ability to balance energy and invigorate the spirit. It harmonizes the grounding properties of hematite with the amplifying effects of quartz, aiding in emotional equilibrium and mental clarity.”
Aquamarine (Mozambique)
Aquamarine is a stone that I’ve often seen in jewelry but not so much in its raw form. This raw piece of aquamarine comes all the way from Mozambique.
According to the Crystal Library, “Aquamarine from Mozambique, with its raw, oceanic blue hues, is a gemstone that forms deep within the Earth in granite pegmatites. Its unique color, a result of iron content, sets it apart, and the stones often have a more natural, opaque look, reflecting the raw beauty of their origins. Unlike the clear, polished aquamarines commonly seen, Mozambican aquamarine in its raw form possesses an earthy, unrefined charm, embodying a more organic connection to nature.”
Enchanted Crystal adds that, “Metaphysically, this version of aquamarine is cherished for its soothing and calming properties, akin to the gentle embrace of the sea. Believed to promote clear and compassionate communication, it's associated with the throat chakra, helping to overcome fears around self-expression. It’s also thought to offer a protective energy, historically valued by sailors. With its imperfect, yet serene appearance, raw Mozambican aquamarine is perfect for those seeking tranquility and a natural, unpolished touch of the ocean’s calming essence in their lives.”
Brazilian Clear Quartz
Finally, my favorite crystal in the May box is Brazilian clear quartz. While challenging to photograph, it’s gorgeous to behold.
According to the Crystal Library, “Clear quartz from Brazil is a stunning example of transparent quartz, showcasing the abundant and high-quality quartz deposits the country is known for. This mineral is one of the most recognized and versatile in the world of gemstones and crystals. Brazilian clear quartz is renowned for its exceptional clarity and pristine appearance, and it can be found in a variety of forms, ranging from small individual points to large, impressive specimens. These pieces often display a variety of crystal shapes and terminations, each reflecting the unique conditions under which they formed.”
Enchanted Crystal adds, “Metaphysically, clear quartz is valued for its amplifying and purifying properties. It is believed to enhance energy, bring clarity of thought, and strengthen spiritual connections. Clear quartz is commonly used for energy cleansing, meditation, and to enhance the energies of other crystals. When paired with any other crystal or mineral variety, it is thought to amplify the combined properties, making it a powerful tool in crystal healing practices.”
Additionally, Enchanted Crystal explains the usefulness of clear quartz, “Clear quartz is also believed to have the ability to cleanse other crystal varieties. Placing a piece of clear quartz with other crystals is thought to help remove inharmonious energies, thanks to the quartz's strong vibrational properties. If you feel particularly drawn to a piece of clear quartz, it may be an ideal choice for creating synergistic connections with other crystal varieties in your collection.”
Each month, a new grid design is printed onto a sturdy, hand-sewn cloth with water-based, PVC-free ink. The grid came with a QR code with a link to its backstory along with suggestions on how to best use it.
According to the blog post about May’s grid, “This mandala includes a play on the flower of life symbol that produces what some call a "lotus of life" pattern. This pattern is well known for representing balance, harmony, and unity. Shown above with a lotus or flower-pedal-like border creating a wonderfully calming grid to place crystals on.” I’m in love with mandalas, so May’s grid is one of my favorites so far.
To get the best use of this grid, Enchanted Crystal explains, “If you're new to crystal grid work, this is a great grid to start on. Without concerning too much about where and how you're placing your crystals, concentrate solely on "intention" as the goal here. We use this word "intention" a lot when discussing crystal placement, and it's easily the most important factor in all crystal grid work. Working with crystals is only as helpful as you intend it to be. Whether your hope is to find calm and serenity through a hectic time in life, or simply explore crystals for the first time, using a grid can be the perfect guide to do so.”If you’re fascinated, there is more information on this unique grid in their blog post. I’m so happy that Enchanted Crystal explains each grid. I now have an understanding of their design, the significance behind them as well as how to use them effectively. Thanks to the recent blog posts, I’ve learned that these aren’t just pretty designs on a piece of fabric, the symbols are a link to the history of humankind.
The Verdict
May’s variety box from Enchanted Crystal was another hit for me. I’m blown away by the variety of crystals included in this box. Several of these beauties really speak to me. The coral fossil is so intriguing and unusual. The shape and reflectiveness of the pyrite is remarkable. The vibrance of the pink against the black of the rhodonite is stunning, and the natural beauty and sparkle of the Brazilian quartz is astounding! As usual, there’s a lot to be excited about in this box.
I’m also still impressed by the Crystal Library that Enchanted Crystal created and continues to update. The crystals themselves are beautiful, but the story behind them is equally fascinating. As is the explanation of the monthly grid. The more I learn about grids and crystals, the more I realize that I still have a lot to learn and I’m so excited for the journey.
Though I’m still not a firm believer in all of the metaphysical powers attributed to crystals, I really do enjoy admiring and studying them. I love learning about how they’re formed within the earth, their historical significance and how they’re currently used throughout the world.
I’m always excited to check my mail and see a new box from Enchanted Crystal!

No, your first box will be July's box. However, Enchanted Crystal does have an online store that you can visit to browse and purchase specimens that are in stock.
Value Breakdown: This is the Crystal Variety box that costs $42 a month. That’s only $7.00 per specimen (not counting the cloth grid and bonus crystals)!
