Medusa's Make-Up Beauty Box is a vegan and cruelty-free makeup subscription box from the popular indie brand of the same name. Each month you'll receive a box of 3-5 vegan beauty products for just $22.95 with free shipping, with a total value of around $40. The shades and colors are always unique and the packaging is super fun!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The July 2024 Box

As a beauty enthusiast, I have been a subscriber to a slew of make-up boxes, but Medusa's Make-Up is new to me. When the opportunity to review this box arose, I jumped at the chance, and couldn't wait to get my first shipment!

Packaged in a pretty pink foil mailer, it was love at first sight! Adorned with sweet script and adorable make-up clip art, I knew I was going to be a fan of this subscription before I even opened the envelope.

To start off the box, we received an info card that details the contents of the box, along with their retail values. Kicking off July with classic hues of pink and yellow, I was ready to up my summer vacay make-up game with all of these fun inclusions.

Also included was this small "Save the Date" info card which advertises "The Birthday Box." It looks like the biggest box of the year is coming next month, so be on the look out!

Medusa's Disco Queen Lip Gloss - Retail Value $14.00

I love a good lip gloss, but I have to say, I was a little apprehensive when I saw how brown this formula looked through the packaging. When removed, however, it looked a tad bit lighter, and shone with rose gold flecks. Vegan and cruelty free, this gloss was created with isododecane, hydrogenated styrene/isoprene copolymer, pigment, mica, titanium dioxide, and iron oxides. When swatched, it had a rosy brown hue, and features a long application wand.

As far as wear goes, this gloss went on silky and smooth, even with the included glitter. My lips felt hydrated with each swipe, and the color was light, yet noticeable. When compared to the website photo, I did not see that color impact, and I was 100% okay with that. The wear length for this gloss is that of a typical gloss, so I do keep it close for re-application. Overall, I love the look this gloss gives, and am already impressed with this month's curation.

Medusa's Mystical Eye Dust - Retail Value $14.00

The next item we received was a round container of Mystical Eye Dust. This loose powder had a shimmery silver tone to it, and created a really light, yet magical look. I appreciated the staying power of this shadow, and was impressed with how buildable it was with the use of primer.

We recently celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary, and I decided to play dress up. I took my Disney princess dress out of the closet and did my hair and make-up. My husband was pouring concrete for our outside steps, and shook his head at me when I walked out in my gown! As you can see, I used a fair amount of the eye dust to create a silvery lid, which went stunningly well with my dress. I also tried this shadow out for everyday use, not building it up quite as much, and loved the results.

Witch Hazel Waikiki Hibiscus Toner  – Retail Value $12.95

My skin is crazy lately, so I was actually really excited to receive this toner in this month's bag. Back in my teenage years, I had horrible acne. I tried every cleanser, cream, antibiotic, ultimately leading to Accutane, which was a disaster. Turns out, it was good old hormones, and as an adult, my skin has mostly cleared up. Lately though, it's been a little more angry than usual, and I was happy to try some witch hazel to dry up my skin a little bit. Scented like an island paradise, this floral, coconut, deliciousness is the lightest scent that goes on cool and easy. This isn't like straight-up witch hazel, which can cause burning, but does leave my skin feeling a little tighter. Made in the USA, I really have been enjoying a daily spritz of this toner, and have noticed a difference!

Totally Baked Eyeshadow –  Retail Value $12.00

I love eyeshadow, especially ones that glimmer, so of course this pan was a winner. "Bitchin" is listed on the back, but not on the website, so I'm not sure if that is the color name; but it is totally giving me Miranda Lambert vibes! With a neutral beige, this glittery powder goes on light, but holds it shimmer. Very buildable or subdued, I opted to use this as a highlighting color on my brow bone, and in the corners of my eyes, for a hint of glitz. Lasting all day, I really enjoyed the formula, and just how versatile the color is.

While it didn't stand out in my photo as much as it did in real life, I loved the look this eyeshadow helped create. Perfect for special occasions, and everyday use, this is a great inclusion that can be used every single day!

Halo Glow - Tiger Lily – Listed Value $12

The last item we received this month was a face stick. Adorned in a bright pink tube, I absolutely loved the packaging, but got a little scared when I found how orange the actual color was. I received the "Tiger Lily" version and it was quite fitting for the hue presented. I am more of a light pink gal myself, but did find this to wear down under my foundation for a sun kissed look. The creamy formula has flecks of gold, and blended out nicely. While it may not have been suited perfectly for me, I did find it usable, and am interested in checking out the other colors in this line.

The Verdict

Like I mentioned above, this is my first box from Medusa's Make-Up, and I am hooked! This month I received five items, and every single item has made it's way into my daily routine. Not only did I enjoy the eyeshadow formulas, but I loved the colors as well. The lip gloss is definitely my go-to, and you can bet I will be adding a few of the other shades to my make-up arsenal. While the color of the face stick wasn't what I would have chosen for myself, I have found a way to make it work on me. Overall, the curation was well-rounded out and fun, leading me to be a big fan of this box. I am already excited to see what's in store for August!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll likely receive the August box. Some past boxes are also available for a one-time purchase here.

Value Breakdown: I estimate I received $64.95 worth of items this month, which is almost three times the cost of the box! That's definitely a good value for $22.95!
