BomiBox K-Beauty Review “Summer Glow” July 2024

Ready to show off your summer glow?

This month’s BomiBox is all about summer, and dare I say, this is one of the most exciting boxes I’ve received so far! 👀 The box is filled with goodies focused on powerful ingredients and innovative formulations, aka everything K-beauty excels at. It has a nice mix of brightening serums, sun protection, and collagen-boosting products to really give you that natural glow. Shall we look inside?

BomiBox is a monthly Korean beauty subscription box. Each month, you get eight full-sized and deluxe sample-sized Korean skincare, makeup, beauty, and body products.

This is a review of BomiBox Luxe, which is $39.99 per month.

This box was sent to us at no cost to review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

The box arrived in perfect condition. Everything inside was nicely and neatly packaged, so nothing was busted or damaged in transit.

What's Inside:

COSRX The AHA 2 BHA 2 Blemish Treatment Serum (120g) – $15

At first glance, I thought, “What a strange box for a serum.” Then, after seeing the instructions, I thought, “Oh, they’re toner pads!” Turns out, this product is neither!! It’s a treatment serum that you apply to cotton balls to use as either a spot treatment or an all-over treatment. WHAT!?

This product is so cool and different! I was super excited because 1) COSRX is one of my absolute favorite brands, and 2) Their AHA/BHA treatments are usually amazing, especially if you have acne-prone skin like I do.

The container keeps everything airtight, and you even get small tongs to pick up the cotton pads, keeping everything hygienic. Like most COSRX products, it’s fragrance-free and non-comedogenic, so it’s safe for all skin types.

With about 30 cotton balls, you’re set for a month’s worth of treatments. The reviews are promising, and I’m excited to see if this helps with my newfound blackheads.

Doctor Althea Natural Radiance Essence (30ml) – $25

Essences are a staple in K-beauty for a reason—they can be highly effective. I like to think of them as a hybrid between a toner and a serum. This is my first time using Kakadu plum extract, which has 150 times more vitamin C than a lemon. 🌟

This essence is supposed to help with hydration and brightening. Unlike most essences I’ve used, 2-4 times a week is enough, likely because the extract concentration is 85%.

The texture is similar to a classic essence: a very watery serum. My skin absorbed it almost instantly. And yes, you’ll still need to apply a cream afterward.

APLB Retinol Vitamin C Vitamin E Ampoule Serum (40ml) – $16.61

This all-in-one ampoule fits perfectly into any skincare routine. I really like APLB products, so I was thrilled to see this. It’s packed with retinol, vitamins C, and E, making it a super-powerful serum for fighting dull skin.

The texture is lightweight, and a little goes a long way. The dropper has an airtight seal to protect everything. My only concern is the ascorbic acid, a form of vitamin C, which is highly susceptible to oxygen and sunlight. With a clear bottle , best to keep this away from the light!

COSRX Ultra Light Invisible Sunscreen (50mL) – $16

I jump in excitement every time I see sunscreen in my BomiBox because I’m obsessed with Korean sunscreens. They’re the best. Period. I’ve tried this one before, and I’m happy to have it again.

It has a serum-like consistency, making it extremely lightweight and airy. There’s no white cast or irritation; instead, you get a sheer, comfortable finish. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t pill.

Lindsay Modeling Mask Cup Pack Vitamin (28g) – $2.59

This is my first time trying a modeling mask. Honestly, I didn’t think they worked. You need to apply a ton of products underneath and use these masks to seal everything in. Plus, they can be messy and tricky to apply solo.

This one, however, has a manageable texture, and I applied it without much mess. It includes its own spatula, but I preferred using my own, especially for the forehead area. The one they have is just too short, and I ended up messing with what I had already applied.

After trying it, I get the hype. It was fun and something I’d use for friend date night. Not a regular routine item for me, though.

W.DressRoom Perfume Hand Cream Mini No.30 White Musk (20ml) – $7.99

I initially thought this was just a hand cream, and while I love having them around, my collection is ever-growing. Then I realized, it’s a perfume! The scent is subtle, perfect for the office or just running errands.

The texture is lightweight and non-sticky. After realizing it was perfume, I started applying it around my collarbones for an extra fragrance touch. I think I found my new travel fragrance!

APLB Glutathione Niacinamide Sheet Mask (1pc) – $1.64

In June’s box, we got the APLB Glutathione Niacinamide Facial Cream. This is the sheet mask version, and I love it. The cream has been amazing for my dry, acne-prone skin. Having a sheet mask for more intense treatment makes me happy. It’s a best-seller on Stylevana, and I can see why. Perfect for post-facial hydration.

Farm Stay (Renew) Visible Difference Mask Sheet Collagen (1pc) – $1.00

Another previous box-inspired mask? We got the Farm Stay Collagen Hand Cream back in May’s box. Now, we get the same product in its sheet mask version. I do love the hand cream, it’s actually on my desk at the moment. And the mask was just as good.

Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $39.99

Value Breakdown:

  • COSRX Treatment Serum: $15
  • Dr Althea Essence: $25
  • APLB Retinol Serum: $16
  • COSRX Sunscreen: $16
  • Lindsay Mask: $2.59
  • W Perfume Hand Cream: $7.99
  • APLB Mask: $1.64
  • Farm Stay Mask: $1.00

Total Value: $85.22

100% worth it! For me, the two stars of this box were the COSRX AHA/BHA Treatment Serum and the APLB Retinol Vitamin C Vitamin E Ampoule Serum – and the sunscreen, obvs –but overall those two products are pretty innovative and exciting. The others, I feel compliment really well the overall theme and add value, too.

As I said at the beginning, this is definitely one of the most exciting BomiBoxes I’ve received so far. Now, this box is setting the bar higher for the next one.

I can’t wait to see how the COSRX treatment helps with my breakouts and blackheads. 🤞
