The Bouqs – August 2024

I'm back. Kind of. I am not reviewing two flower boxes from The Bouqs in a week. I did review one box, but was able to gift another box to my sister since it was her birthday. Therefore, take it away sis!

Hi! I’m Judith’s sister.  We live kind of far apart and don’t get to see each other much (like twice a year) and I was so pleased when she sent me these lovely flowers.  However there was a catch (with siblings there is always a catch) - she asked me to review them.  Which is kind of not cool for a birthday gift, but at the same time we never exchange birthday gifts and I know that she reviews boxes and it sounded like fun so I figured I’d help her out (she is my sister after all).

This is a review of the bouq Venice Peach Deluxe.

The Cost: $63 per month with subscription or $89 as a one time box.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Opening the Box

I received Fedex shipping notifications by text, since I’m signed up with them. So I knew a package was coming, but not from which company. This was helpful so I could be on the lookout, without ruining the surprise.  These flowers arrived 2 days after my anniversary and 2 days before my birthday, so surprise deliveries this week are not unheard of.

I had heard of The Bouqs but had never gotten flowers from them, so I didn't really know what to expect. This is the box that I received.  It looked like a standard flower box.

When opening, there was a card that had a typed out message from her on the inside, as well as a general note regarding care that stated:

CARE & DESIGN TIPS: For best travel and long vase life, our flowers may arrive in semi-bud form.  Please allow 1-2 days to open.

Underneath that sentence in the bottom corner was what looked like a bouquet code which I used to snoop and see what my bouquet looked like on the website.  Turns out that mine was Venice Peach.

A second included card felt like a thick postcard.  And it was, kind of.  It did indeed include a postcard, but also included information about flower care, some cute photos, as well as a coupon code.

The Flowers

Finally, on to the flowers! On the inside, under the tissue paper, there were two separately wrapped bouquets, as well as a lovely vase. They were securely fastened and I needed my strong scissors to cut them loose.  Each bouquet included a bag of plant food. I then followed the instructions on the card noted above by cutting my flowers, filling the vase with water and food, and making them pretty.

Let's talk about the succulents. I love the concept of including a plant in a fresh flower bouquet. I think it's smart how they kept them fresh. However, they were attached to wooden dowels and one cannot cut wooden dowels with the same ease as one can cut plant stems. So my solution was to snap them. Not the most elegant solution, but I did not have a hacksaw available. And I think that worked just fine.

Here they are, tada! I really enjoyed the colors and the striking mix of flowers, succulents, and greens.

Longevity

Not only is the bouquet beautiful, here they are on Day 3, still going strong.

Final Thoughts

Flowers are sometimes a hit or miss, especially shipping them during the hot and humid summer months, so I was truly excited to receive such gorgeous flowers.  I thought these were a lovely and thoughtful gift and may have to send a bouquet back to her when her birthday rolls around.

To Wrap Up

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes. These flowers are available year round, however there is a disclaimer on this bouquet that states:
