First Impressions

One of my favorite features of the Ipsy glam bag is the excitement of the bag design. I have been a subscriber for years, and the fun designs (and of course awesome products) leave me coming back for more. This month's bag gave off a holistic vibe with the yoga pose figure in the middle and astronomy figures surrounding it. With fun colors and adorned with the cutest plastic zipper pull, this month's bag was girly and sweet. Great for travel, organizing, and daily use, I love these bags and am looking forward to adding this pastel version into the rotation!

Also included is a product card that features the "Soft Era" theme, information about the contents of this month's bag, and info on the soft era sweepstakes!

Now, on to the items!

NIP+FAB Salicylic Fix Clay Mask - Deluxe Sample - Retail Value $3.00

The first item in this month's bag was actually the item I picked for myself. My skin has been a bit horrendous lately, so I decided to try a salicylic clay mask to see if it would help my breakouts. To use, apply onto a clean dry face and let sit for 10-15 minutes, then wash off with warm water. There is a caution on the tube stating to only use in the evening, as well as patch test before use. It is also recommended to try this after a steamy shower when your pores are wide open to really get out the "gunk". Let's start out by saying I did not read the tube and applied the mask for the first time on a Saturday morning without patch testing. I do not have sensitive skin and thankfully everything went well and my skin felt tighter and less oily AND my skin hasn't been as angry since I started using! The light floral fragrance was nice and my tube felt pretty full, so overall I was very happy with my choice!

BENEFIT COSMETICS Fan Fest Mascara - Deluxe Mini - Estimated Value $9.66

Black mascara is definitely one of my favorite products of all time. I wear it daily, and have only found a few brands that I absolutely love. I typically use Too Faced "Better Than Sex" mascara, but am always looking for something better. I was unfamiliar with the Benefit Fan Fest mascara until I received this tube, and I have to say that I am very impressed. I love a mascara wand with soft bristles, so it started out right. Within two applications of mascara my lashes were longer than they get with my usual mascara, and they didn't clump. I even had a gal ask what kind of fake eyelashes I use when they were my very own! While a little on the spendy side, it is the same price as what I typically pay, but the results are even better! Looks like I'm a convert!

APPEAL COSMETICS Melon Crush Sugar Scrub - FULL SIZE - $21

The next item I received was this full size container of sugar scrub. While okay in size, I was a little surprised to see this was a full size version, but happy nonetheless. Scented lightly like watermelons, this bright pink scrub was gritty in texture and exfoliated nicely. The sugar does seem to dissolve extra fast, so applying out of the water stream will give you the best results. Designed for body use, this worked well for exfoliating my legs before shaving, and ultimately gave really good results.

INNISFREE Cherry Blossom Glow Jelly Cream - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $7.80

At 36, I am all about the moisturizers, so I was definitely excited to receive this jelly cream. This Korean cream has a jelly-like consistency but rubs into your skin for hydration. Featuring ingredients like niacin amide and cherry blossom extract, it helps create a dewy looking complexion all while smelling divine. I have used this moisturizer twice a day for over 5 days and still have some left, all while finding my skin extra smooth and soft. I have to say, I'm really impressed!

TOYFACTORY CliqueStick Eye Shadow Crayon in Fantasy - Mini Size - Retail Value $10

I don't even know where to start with this product. When I took it out of the box I was a little worried about the dark color, when I opened the stick, it was lighter than expected and the shimmer was really pretty. To swatch, I had to literally grind it in my arm and still the color payout was barely noticeable. When I replaced the cap, the end cap flew off and rolled under my piano! This is an eyeshadow crayon that supposedly swipes a bold color on the lid, but it was so dry I thought it was going to rip my eyelid skin off! I ended up getting a tiny bit of color but ultimately used my regular eyeshadow over it for any sort of color payoff. I was definitely not impressed with this item, and really bummed too because I did really like the color.

Because I didn't receive a lot of make up items, it's hard to show a photo of this month's products in use, but I did want to show off my look after utilizing the clay mask, sugar scrub, jelly cream, (what I could of the eye shadow crayon), and the mascara.

Verdict

I love Ipsy Glam Bag and am always excited to try out new beauty products. While I have brands that I adore, I am an equal opportunity makeup/skincare user, and love seeing if my current faves can be outdone. This month I really enjoyed the mask, jelly cream, and scrub, and LOVED the mascara. I definitely wasn't a fan of the eye shadow crayon, but feel that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose with beauty subs. For $14, 4/5 isn't too bad. What do you think will be in store for the October curation? I can't wait to see!

According to your own numbers the total value is 13.99 where do you get 51.42? also if you write to them and ask for a replacement crayon maybe sternly a 2nd time they will. Everyone had an issue with that one it seems.

Hey Shellybean! Thank you for commenting – The cost of the box is $14, but the $51.42 comes from the total estimated value of the box based if you were to pay for the items separately. Sorry for the confusion!
