First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives in a box with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other.

Hi, every bun. If you follow my rental reviews, you know I had to put my bunny down on Labor Day. He was sick for years with severe respiratory issues and would've turned 8 in November. I miss him terribly, but he's no longer suffering.

Luckily, I got a pic of him with the September beauty box and was thrilled to receive a lip scrub with a picture of a bunny who looked just like him! This review will be my last with Nourish because I need to simplify my life, so I'm cutting back on work. September's box came with some excellent products, which made this decision more difficult than I expected, but I'd also like to give another one of the women on the team the opportunity to review everything, too.

Now, on to the items!

Nourish Naturals Tinted Lip Serum in Balance, 0.14 fl. oz. - Retail Value $16

I'm a sucker for a natural-looking lip gloss, and the Nourish Naturals Tinted Lip Serum delivers just that, effortlessly gliding on and adding a soft touch of color. This lip gloss is packaged in a sleek, compact tube with a berry, nude, and pink flesh tone. It is enriched with a moisturizing blend of jojoba, sunflower, safflower oils, and hydrating shea butter.

This subtle lip tint—with antioxidants—enhances the lips' natural color. Its compact size makes it ideal for on-the-go use. While the Balance color appears a little rosier in photos, it's a bit more orangey and works perfectly with my skin tone. I layered it with the Kika Lip Gloss, which was the perfect combo.

Here's the swatch for the Tinted Lips on my wrist and lips.

Trifle Cosmetics' Sugar Bunny Scrub, 0.34 fl. oz. - Retail Value $9

Some of the most "moisturizing" lip glosses dry out my lips, and despite using Vaseline every night, I still end up with dry patches and flakes. Since putting Mr. HGL down two weeks ago, I've found myself constantly taking it out on my lips and biting the skin. But then I remembered I had the lip scrub and scrubbed away the flakes, so I quit attacking my lips!

Formulated with a blend of vanilla and sweet almond oil, this sugary exfoliant buffs away dead skin cells and dryness to reveal a smoother pair of lips. Infused with strawberry extracts to freshen up tired lips and create the perfect canvas, this all-natural, bunny-approved beauty must-have is vegan and PETA-certified as cruelty-free. It's been a lifesaver for my pout so far.

Ingredients Wellness Marula Face Oil Complex, 1.0 fl oz. - Retail Value $44

I have really oily skin, and when I was younger, I spent a lot of money on those worthless oil-blotting sheets. Spoiler alert: they don't work. While some of my friends swear it's one of the reasons why I haven't needed Botox yet (at 47), it can be a blessing and a curse. Oily skin also means I have an oily scalp, and there are days when I have to wash my hair twice to treat the greasy strands.

Where am I going with this? I cannot use an oil complex on my face during the day because it's too oily! So, I applied it before bed instead. This lightweight, 100% organic oil complex helps restore the skin’s natural lipid barrier. It is designed for dehydrated skin needing moisture and a boost of radiance. The nourishing blend of unrefined marula, rosehip seed, and Seabuckthorn fruit oils is packed with phytonutrients, antioxidants, omegas, and vitamins. Therapeutic neroli and lavender essential oils work to soothe and rejuvenate skin stressed by environmental factors. This non-comedogenic formula also brightens and balances your complexion.

Here's a swatch of the oil on my wrist.

Jelly Pong Pong Balm of Bliss Tinted Lip Therapy in Elysium, 0.35 oz. - Retail Value $25

I mentioned this in a previous review, but I remember Jelly Pong Pong from my days in the beauty industry. My roomie and I went crazy over their wild, glittery eyeshadows and whimsical packaging. We ran around NYC looking like Ziggy Stardust.

Anyway, this is the second Jelly Pong Pong lip gloss I've received, and I'm a massive fan of the formula and hue! It glides on smoothly with a hint of color and sparkle, keeping your lips hydrated! This glossy tinted balm adds such a glassy look to my lips, I love it! This colorful protection glaze creates healthier, softer, and deeply moisturized puckers, formulated with plant oils, such as castor seed, sunflower oil, Kalahari melon, plum, and soybean oils. It glides on easily and lasts for hours, creating a juicy, luscious appearance, with or without a lip liner.

Here's a swipe of the balm on my wrist and lips.

Verdict

This month's box included many excellent lip products that helped me perfect my pout! Since this is my last review, I wanted to summarize my overall opinion. While I was initially confused by the repeat products, I now understand the business model and enjoy receiving the same products in different colors. It's beneficial because we have different skin tones and undertones, and not every color matches everyone.

I may be too old to subscribe to a beauty box because I know what I like and the best brands (for me). But I discovered some really cool products and used almost all of them! While some months, you get the best bang for your buck, other months weren't exactly worth the $40 charge.

All in all, I enjoyed my experience and there are some products I will buy for myself in the future!

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $39.95 for a monthly plan

Value Breakdown:

  • Tinted lip serum: $16
  • Oil: $44
  • Lip scrub: $9
  • Lip balm: $18

The total value of my box was $87, which would be worth it if I could find use for the oil, but since I've used the lip products a ton, it evens out.

If shopping were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. And while my bank account often feels the crunch, I just can’t stop buying secondhand clothing and accessories, under-the-radar designer goods, stuffed animal unicorns (I have about 75), and toys for my pet bunny rabbit. After 20 years of city slicking in NYC and DC, I now have a car and love to tour the Virginia countryside looking for vintage shops, undiscovered wineries and breweries, historic sites, and Thai restaurants—I’m addicted to Thai food. I never leave home without a spare phone charger because I love horror movies and therefore have an irrational fear of being stranded somewhere with a dead battery.
