Retreat Yourself is an Australian quarterly lifestyle box that encourages you to slow down, make your health and well-being a priority, and put yourself first, as well as introduces you to conscious brands that have been carefully chosen to create a wonderful retreat at home.

For AU$109.00 ($76.00 USD), you'll receive up to AU$300.00 ($204.73 USD) of Australian and New Zealand wellness products, the 20-page wellness Retreat Guide, playlists, rituals, and more. Items range from home goods, health supplements, beauty products, and accessories, plus other fun finds.

This review is of the Retreat Yourself Spring 2024 "Flourish" box.

Author's Note: Since the box is Australia-based, where it is currently spring, this is the current box that's still available to purchase.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

My box arrived bursting with so many new and cool finds; everything was packaged securely and there was a QR code under the lid that took me to a relaxing playlist to help set the mood.

This leaflet has some of the answers to the questions you might have about the products included in this quarter's box. I like that they include a brand bio for each item so you can learn more about these local, conscious AU & NZ brands.

Now, on to the items!

Retreat Yourself - The Rise & Shine Smoothie Tumbler - Retail Value AU$29.95 ($20.44 USD)

This is a very pretty and aesthetic-looking smoothie container. Would I ever buy something like this myself? Probably not. I usually just put my smoothies in a mason jar if I'm taking them on the go. But will I use this and love every minute of it? You bet! The gold metal straw is a nice touch as well.

Rich Glen - 'Musk & Kumquat' Body Oil - Retail Value AU$30.00 ($20.47 USD)

Hmmm, this oil feels great, makes my skin feel nourished and soft, and leaves a really pretty sheen. But it's a lot. Like the scent is really strong and overpowering and I'm not sure I even like it. The first time I used this, I applied it all over my body and that was a mistake. So, the second time, I only used it on my legs and that made the scent a lot more tolerable.

The Carob Kitchen - Carob Coconut Bar, 80g - Retail Value AU$8.50 ($5.80 USD)

I love chocolate! And carob does not taste like chocolate to me at all. I'm not sure if it's meant to fool anyone but the first taste of this did not win me over. But, after a while, the taste really grew on me and I started to crave this milder, coconutty treat. By the end of the bar, I ate four rows at once and I like that I didn't feel gross afterward like I would have if it were chocolate.

MooGoo Skin Care - Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser - Retail Value AU$17.50 ($11.94 USD)

YESS!!! Another MooGoo product. This is fast becoming one of my favorite brands that I've experienced thanks to the RY box. This foaming face cleanser has a satisfyingly dense, meringue-like texture and it's really fun to use. My skin feels clean and soft after use, and I love the subtly sweet scent that's a signature of all MooGoo products.

Love Beauty Foods - 'Lavender & Geranium' Body Butter - Retail Value AU$29.95 ($20.44 USD)

I don't usually like body butters. The texture and consistency aren't my thing. And this one didn't convince me otherwise. I didn't really get the notes of lavender and geranium either. It weirdly smelled of mint to me, to the point where I had to double check that what I got was body butter and not toothpaste. I used this all over when I first tried it but now I'm using it just on my feet and cuticles and I'm loving it for these extra dry areas.

Empire Australia - Therapeutic Room Spray - Retail Value AU$12.95 ($8.84 USD)

I have a few of these room sprays now that I've stashed around the house and I love spritzing them to freshen up the air. They're a serene way to begin the day or the perfect finishing touch to end a speed cleaning session. This rose and vetiver mist smells fresh and pretty and has a nice calming effect.

Retreat Yourself - The Energise & Glow Body Brush - Retail Value AU$24.95 ($17.03 USD)

I've used dry body brushes for ages now. I usually like to find the detachable ones that come on long sticks, so I can reach all over my back but also fit it into my hand. I figured when I received this, I could save my current brush for my back only and use this one for everywhere else. But wow, this is super hard and scratchy. And I thought I liked hard and scratchy. I'm kinda scared to use it again but maybe it'll soften up a bit with more use.

Uluna - Slumber Ritual Aroma Roller - Retail Value AU$45.00 ($30.71 USD)

I'm still not over the last Uluna body oil we received in a previous RY box. I love, love, LOVED that oil so much, the smell was incredible and the crystals in the bottle were a nice addition. So, while I'm not sure an aroma roller will cure my revenge bedtime procrastination, I was excited to give it a try. The smell is divine and ultra relaxing, and I didn't engage in my usual late night doomscrolling when I used this.

Monday Distillery Non-Alcoholic Cocktail - Retail Value AU$5.00 ($3.41 USD)

I've been enjoying trying all these non-alcoholic beverages that are usually featured in RY boxes, and while there have been a few that I've repurchased, I don't think this one is an "add to cart." I like the delicate flavors, it kinda tastes like a ginger beer with hints of vanilla to me. But overall, it was a bit bland and obviously sugar free.

Natures Commonscents - Natural Goats Milk & Paw Soap - Retail Value AU$2.50 ($1.71 USD)

Wow, I loved the smell of this bar of soap. It was the first thing I noticed when I opened this box and I kept going back to smell it over and over because it's just that good. It very sweet and pretty smelling, not quite fruity but definitely really fresh and light. The soap lathers up really well and leaves my skin feeling nice and soft.

Well Naturally - Sugar Free Snakes - Retail Value AU$5.00 ($3.41 USD)

Meh, these were ok. They taste nice but they do have a very slight aftertaste and I don't love that the texture isn't that stretchy gummy-like texture. I'm also don't love that I have to be careful not to eat too many because they do say that there's a laxative effect.

Retreat Yourself Mermaid Scalp Serum - Retail Value AU$29.95 ($20.44 USD)

I know haircare is the new skincare but I've always been really lazy with my hair. I've even gone through phrases of using 2-in-1 because I can't be bothered with both shampoo and conditioner. So, I really thought this scalp serum would be lost on me but I'm kinda loving it. I applied it to my scalp with the dropper and left it for half an hour before washing it out. And it really seemed like my hair was softer and shinier looking after.

20-Page Wellness Retreat Guide

The Retreat Yourself box also comes with a booklet filled with mindful activities, journaling prompts, a yoga flow, and a healthy recipe.

Verdict

There seemed to be a few more misses in this box for me than ones in the past but I still enjoyed trying out all the products. I'm on the fence on whether I'll keep using the body oil because the scent really is very overpowering but I'm realizing that the body butter is actually really great for my feet and cuticles, so I've moved the jar to my bedside table and using it at night. Also on my bedside table is the Uluna Slumber roller, which I love. Other highlights for me are the MooGoo foam cleanser and the RY Mermaid Scalp Serum. I'm excited to see if my hair health improves with more frequent use.
