First Impressions

This month’s box is the Black Radiance Takeover Box, and I am really liking this customized box design. The “Beyond Radiant” and “#tomyselfwithlove” messaging adds a thoughtful touch that feels so much more exciting than the usual tote. It’s a refreshing change that instantly elevates the unboxing experience.

BLACK RADIANCE Precision Brow Sculptor in Blackish Brown, 0.05 g - Retail Value $7.29

Eyebrow pencils are one of my main staples, so when I saw this Black Radiance Precision Brow Sculptor in Blackish Brown, I was thrilled. On my first application, I was impressed by how smooth and easy to handle the precision point was, giving me clean, defined brows without much effort. I love the shade; it’s just right for giving me subtle definition in my brows while still having that all-natural look. If you prefer a bold brow, you can achieve that look using this brow sculptor just as easily. Plus, the spoolie on the other end is super convenient for blending and taming my wild hairs down into place. It’s simple but effective, and it’s a win for me.

BLACK RADIANCE Body Building Mascara in Black, 8 ml - Retail Value $5.29

Mascara isn’t something I apply regularly nowadays, but it’s definitely a good addition to my makeup arsenal. This Black Radiance Body Building Mascara in Black has a formula designed to add volume and length, which is always something I look for in a good mascara. It’s super buildable, so I can easily go from a natural look to bold, voluminous lashes without any clumping or flaking. I also really appreciate the intense black; great for adding that extra bit of drama on a night out with the girls. The brush is nice and full, easily coating each and every lash. I didn’t notice any smudging from this product either, so that’s a bonus. Overall, a reliable, volumizing mascara that’s nice to have on hand.

BLACK RADIANCE Fine Line Liquid Eyeliner in Fine Black, 3.2 ml - Retail Value $4.29

This Fine Line Liquid Eyeliner in Fine Black from Black Radiance is another excellent staple. I really enjoy the super-fine tip that makes getting those sharp, precise lines so easy, whether I’m going for a bold wing or a more subtle look. The shade is a true black, very rich and intense, so it adds a good amount of definition on the first swipe. It’s buildable, but it’s a delicate balance between layering it up and being heavy-handed. I appreciate how quickly it dries, which makes it less likely to smudge or transfer before I leave the house. Great for days when I’m looking for a simple eye look without the fuss, yet it’s compact enough to keep in my bag for touch-ups during the night, if desired.

BLACK RADIANCE Bold and Sexy Gel Eyeliner in After Hours, 0.7 g - Retail Value $7.29

Now, we also have this Bold and Sexy Gel Eyeliner in After Hours from Black Radiance. I like the intriguing name of the shade, and it’s giving me late-night autumn vibes. The formula is creamy and smooth, gliding on effortlessly; perfect for creating that bold line or smudging out for a sultry, smoky effect. I appreciate the intensely deep, dramatic black of the gel liner. Plus, it’s long-lasting, so I don’t have to worry about fading or smudging throughout the day (or night). A winner for anyone who loves a bold eye!

This Brilliant Effects Eyeshadow Palette in Starstruck from Black Radiance is such a fun palette to work with. It’s packed with a mix of richly pigmented shades that give both shimmer and metallic options, perfect for creating pretty much any kind of look; from everyday to something more glam. The color payoff is impressive, and the shades work well together. Definitely buildable, creamy, and smooth. I love that the palette includes a range of tones, so I can mix and match depending on my mood or the occasion. Whether I’m aiming for a subtle wash of color to match my outfit or a full-on smokey eye, this palette has all the versatility one would need.

BLACK RADIANCE Beyond A Pout Lip Lacquer in Extra Hot, 3.5 ml - Retail Value $6.29

Here we have the first of the lip products in this box. This Black Radiance Beyond A Pout Lip Lacquer in Extra Hot definitely offers a unique look to change things up a bit. The shade is more brown-bronze, but with a pop of sparkle, it adds an instant boost to your lips. It’s nicely pigmented, bringing full color to your lips in a single swipe. The formula feels creamy and hydrating, thanks to the inclusion of hyaluronic acid; this makes it much more comfortable for me to wear for longer periods as opposed to some other lip products that dry down uncomfortably. It also has a nice glossy finish that gives lips that extra shine without the fear of stickiness. Overall, a nice lip product.

BLACK RADIANCE True Complexion Loose Setting Powder in Banana, 15 g - Retail Value $10.29

I’m a huge fan of setting powders when it comes to locking in a look for the day. This Black Radiance True Complexion Loose Setting Powder in Banana will serve me well for quite a long time. I appreciate the generous sizing of this product, and it’s so finely-milled that it gives a smooth, lightweight feel that blends effortlessly. After applying, it leaves my skin with a nice, natural finish that doesn’t look cakey. The Banana shade is also perfect for adding a touch of brightness, especially under my eyes or in areas I want to highlight. It does a great job of controlling shine throughout the day, which is a major win and perhaps my favorite feature. I love how the powder helps to set my foundation and keep everything in place, making it a reliable, go-to setting powder that’s both effective and easy to use.

BLACK RADIANCE Perfect Tone Lip Color in Sundrenched Bronze, 3.6 g - Retail Value $2.99

Unfortunately this particular product, the Black Radiance Perfect Tone Lip Color in Sundrenched Bronze, arrived stuck to the top of the tube, having separated from the base, so I wasn't able to swatch this one. This shade brings a rich, coppery warmth to lips with just the right amount of shimmer, giving an eye-catching, metallic finish that works great anytime. The formula looks to be creamy and glides on effortlessly, so it’s likely comfy to wear without any drying feeling. This particular shade is a bit more of a bold look than I’d usually go for, but it would have been nice to have something different in my makeup bag.

BLACK RADIANCE Perfect Tone Lip Color in Copper Glow, 3.6 g - Retail Value $2.99

Next lip product we have here is the Black Radiance Perfect Tone Lip Color in Copper Glow. It’s honestly a stunning shade, with its warm, bronzy hue giving lips that perfect, sun-kissed glow that works well for any time of year. The formula is both creamy and smooth, so it’s easy to apply, gliding on nicely. I also noticed that it felt hydrating without being too heavy. I appreciate how versatile this particular shade is; it adds a subtle shimmer for a natural look during the day but can also be layered for more impact if I’m going out in the evening. Definitely a good choice for a flawlessly simple yet polished look achieved through minor effort, which is something I’m all about. This one’s a keeper.

BLACK RADIANCE Artisan Color Baked Bronzer in Gingersnap, 4.5 g - Retail Value $6.29

This Black Radiance Artisan Color Baked Bronzer in Gingersnap might indeed be my favorite product from this entire box. It’s just the glow-up I needed in my life. The bronzer has a beautiful, warm tone to it, with a subtle shimmer that adds a natural, sun-kissed look to my skin. I love how lightweight and buildable it is; it gives a nice sheer glow with a single layer but can easily be intensified for a more dramatic effect. The baked formula blends smoothly, so it’s easy to apply without looking patchy or overdone. This shade, Gingersnap, complements my skin tone perfectly and adds a shimmery touch that I quite enjoy. The perfect choice for bringing warmth and dimension to my face, whether going natural or glam.

Verdict

This was a strong month for Cocotique! The standout item for me was the baked bronzer, which adds the perfect hint of warmth and glow with a touch of shimmer that works with any look. I was also happy to see the loose setting powder, which is always a staple of mine. The formula keeps my makeup fresh with a soft, brightening effect that draws the eye. I can always use a volumizing mascara, so that was another solid pick, adding volume and length without clumping. Sculpting my eyebrows with the brow sculptor is super easy to use, thanks to its precise point, giving me natural, defined brows with minimal effort. The eyeshadow palette was stunning, and its formula did not disappoint; super creamy and smooth to the touch with a large variety of shades for versatile looks. I found the liquid eyeliner to work well as its fine tip makes it easy to get a sharp, lean line without the smudges, and the gel eyeliner was a nice surprise. The creamy, smooth texture of the gel works for anything from a bold line to a smokey eye look. Now, we have the three lip products: the lip lacquer packs a punch in terms of pigment, and I truly appreciate the inclusion of hyaluronic acid in the formula as it doesn’t leave my lips feeling dry after applying. Lastly, the two lipsticks… Sundrenched Bronze adds that warm, subtle shimmer, giving a polished touch even for the most natural look, while the shade Copper Glow is perfect for a fun night out, with a rich, metallic finish. Overall, Cocotique did an awesome job with this month’s curation, combining bold choices with everyday staples, and providing everything you’d need to create a large variety of makeup looks.
