Enchanted Crystal is a monthly subscription for crystals, hand-picked and uniquely curated to offer a truly enchanted crystal experience.

This box was sent to us free of charge for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This is a review of the $42.00 Crystal Variety Box.

First Impressions

How cute is the crystal covered tape that wraps this sturdy box? Such a lovely presentation!

The crystals were carefully packaged: nestled in sturdy paper and (separately) enclosed in bubble wrap. Unsurprisingly, the crystals arrived in perfect condition!

Enchanted Crystal includes an insert in their variety subscription box that has several QR codes that link to various letters on their blog. One links to a letter to new subscribers, another to their Crystal Library and one to the current month’s newsletter.

In the August blog post, Enchanted Crystal hints of exciting changes coming to the look of Enchanted Crystal and their website.

The Crystals

Bonus Crystals - Ocean Jasper & Icelandic Spar

Each month, Enchanted Crystal includes a small collection of bonus crystals and stones in their box. The bonus crystals I received were 3 pieces of ocean jasper and two pieces of Icelandic spar.

The ocean jasper pieces are so different from each other, it’s fascinating that they’re the same stone. Unfortunately, Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library doesn’t contain a listing for ocean jasper, but I was able to find interesting information about the stone elsewhere.

According to The Crystal Council, “For so long this mineral has gone unfound due to it only being able to be seen at low tide…. Mining operations of ocean jasper were stopped in 2006 when the locality was deemed depleted, as well as heightened safety risks. All ocean jasper on the market today is either a back stock or has been hoarded by collectors and sellers for years. Ocean jasper activates and aligns our solar plexus, heart, and throat chakras. This highly energetic channel allows one the ability to combine their will with their emotions, pushing one to achieve joy, happiness and emotional stability.”

I’ve received Icelandic spar in a past box, but it’s beautiful so I don’t mind a repeat. According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, Icelandic spar, “...is formed through a process called sedimentation, where calcium-rich waters deposit calcite crystals over time….Icelandic spar is transparent and colorless, allowing light to pass through it creating a double refraction effect.” What that means is that if your piece of Icelandic spar is clear enough, you might be able to see the effect by looking through it onto another object. This made it very difficult to photograph, but it’s an interesting stone to look at.

A great start. Now, on to the main event!

Thulite

The first stone I unwrapped this month was a stunning chunk of thulite. I actually have a thulite cabochon that I’m beading around, but it’s polished. This is a raw piece, but it’s striking. The color is such a vibrant shade of pink! I can’t remember seeing a raw gem this pink. I don’t know why, but it seems pink is a somewhat rare color in the crystal world. Of course, there is rose quartz, but I’ve never seen rose quartz in a shade this lovely.

According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, “Thulite is the pink variety of the mineral zoisite, known for its rosy hues that range from pale pink to deep crimson. This coloration comes from manganese inclusions within the zoisite, and the intensity of the pink depends on the amount of manganese present. The most famous deposits of thulite are found in Norway, where it was first discovered and named after the mythical island of Thule.”

The Crystal Library adds that, “In the world of metaphysics, thulite is celebrated as a stone of joyful expression and empowerment. It's believed to inspire eloquence, enthusiasm, and an extroverted approach to life, making it a favorite for those who wish to enhance their communication skills and social interactions. Thulite is thought to stimulate the heart chakra, encouraging compassion, empathy, and understanding in relationships. Embraced for its uplifting and optimistic energy, thulite is often used by those seeking to overcome limitations and embrace the joys of life, making it a beacon for positive vibrations and personal growth.

Apatite Set

Neon blue apatite is my favorite stone so I’m always happy to receive apatite. About apatite,  The Crystal Library explains that, “Its crystal structure can vary, leading to a spectrum of colors including blue, green, yellow, and brown.” Unfortunately for me, this three piece set is a yellow brown. But it still has a bit of a shine, despite it being in the raw form.

Enchanted Crystal adds, “Metaphysically, apatite is connected with clarity, knowledge, and communication. It's thought to stimulate intellect and enhance one's ability to absorb and retain information. This crystal is believed to promote self-expression, aiding in effective communication and encouraging a positive outlook. Apatite's energy is also associated with motivation and creativity.”

Icelandic Spar

I’ve received many small pieces of Icelandic spar, but this is the first large specimen I’ve seen. It’s nearly transparent, so it’s very difficult to photograph.

According to The Crystal Library, “Icelandic spar is transparent and colorless, allowing light to pass through it creating a double refraction effect. If your selection is transparent enough, it may be possible to view this effect by looking through the crystal towards an object behind it.”

Enchanted Crystal adds that, “Metaphysically, Icelandic is associated with clarity and insight, helping to clear mental fog and enhance focus. The double refraction effect is said to symbolize the ability to see different perspectives and find balance in life. Icelandic spar is also considered a spiritual amplifier, enhancing one's connection to higher consciousness and aiding in meditation and spiritual practices.”

Black Agate Tower

This next stone is black agate, in the shape of a tower. It’s not as black as obsidian, but there isn’t much visible banding.

According to the Crystal Library, “Black agate, a variety of banded chalcedony, forms from silica deposits (primarily quartz) in volcanic rock. Its dark color stems from the large amount of iron oxides included during its slow crystallization. Enchanted Crystal has sourced these varieties from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, an area well known for it's volcanic formations and deposits. While shaped and polished, these are not treated, often done to increase the visibility of agate striping or banding. Because of this, any banding that is visible may be faint or less prevalent than typically seen with agate varieties."

Enchanted Crystal adds, “Metaphysically, black agate is considered a stone of protection and strength. It helps alleviate stress by grounding and stabilizing the spirit, and it repels negative energy while promoting emotional stability. This stone is valued for enhancing self-control and fostering inner peace, making it beneficial for meditation and improving mental clarity.”

Green Aventurine (Raw)

I’ve made jewelry with green aventurine, but I’ve never seen it in the raw form. This chunk is a lovely, deep blue-green shade; it reminds me of the deep ocean.

According to the Crystal Library, “Green aventurine is a sparkling gemstone that brings a touch of nature's cheer wherever it's found. It's a variety of quartz characterized by its presence of mineral inclusions that give it a shimmering or glistening effect, known as aventurescence. The green color is typically due to the presence of fuchsite, a type of green mica. This raw variety is sourced from Brazil, but can also be found in other parts of the world such as India and China. Each region offers stones with slight variations in green shades and patterns, making green aventurine a globally beloved gem.”

Enchanted Crystal adds that, “In the world of metaphysical properties, green aventurine is like a burst of sunshine for the soul, renowned for its positive energy. It's often called the "stone of opportunity" for its reputation for bringing good fortune and new beginnings. It's believed to boost one's chances in any situation, from job interviews to lottery draws. Moreover, green aventurine is associated with the heart chakra, promoting emotional healing and offering comfort and balance. It's said to encourage decisiveness, leadership qualities, and a sense of humor, making it perfect for those seeking a dash of confidence and a sprinkle of luck. Many turn to this stone for its calming vibe, which is thought to help in managing life's stresses, making it not just a stone of opportunity, but also one of peace and tranquility.”

Moroccan Barite

Finally, my favorite stone in the August box is a chunk of Moroccan barite. According to the Crystal Library, “Barite crystals can grow in various shapes, including tabular, prismatic, or bladed formations. The color of barite can vary, ranging from white to gray, yellow, brown, blue, or even red.” I think the specimen I received has brown bladed formations that sparkle in every direction.

Enchanted Crystal adds, “Metaphysically, barite is considered a stone of purification and protection, helping to shield against negative energies. Some believe that barite can stimulate the third eye chakra, enhancing intuition and awareness. It is often used in meditation practices to promote a sense of serenity and connection to higher realms.”

Hand-Crafted Cloth Grid

Each month, a new grid design is printed onto a sturdy, hand-sewn cloth with water-based, PVC-free ink. The grid came with a QR code with a link to its backstory along with suggestions on how to best use it.

According to the blog post about August’s grid, “At the heart of the design is a small square inside a circle, surrounded by layers of concentric circles and squares that draw your attention inward, perfect for focusing crystals you've bonded with. The intersecting points, where you can place other crystals, are like energy hotspots where quartz points or other amplifying type crystals can be placed. The grid’s blend of squares and circles symbolizes the balance between the physical world and infinite possibilities, while the triangles connect the material and spiritual realms. The outer circle with diagonal lines feels like a protective shield, keeping all that energy contained and directed.”

If you’re fascinated, there is more information on this unique grid in their blog post. I’m so happy that Enchanted Crystal explains each grid. I now have an understanding of their design, the significance behind them as well as how to use them effectively. Thanks to the recent blog posts, I’ve learned that these aren’t just pretty designs on a piece of fabric, the symbols are a link to the history of humankind.

The Verdict

August’s variety box from Enchanted Crystal was as interesting as it was educational. I love the variety of stones and the mix of metaphysical properties they embody.

I continue to be impressed by the Crystal Library that Enchanted Crystal created and continues to update. The crystals themselves are beautiful, but the story behind them is equally fascinating. As is the explanation of the monthly grid. The more I learn about grids and crystals, the more I realize that I still have a lot to learn and I’m so excited for the journey.

Though I’m still not a firm believer in all of the metaphysical powers attributed to crystals, I really do enjoy admiring and studying them. I love learning about how they’re formed within the Earth, their historical significance and how they’re currently used throughout the world.

I’m always excited to check my mail and see a new box from Enchanted Crystal!
