Ipsy Glam Bag October 2024 Review

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $14 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so this review is for just one of the bag variations you might receive!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

One of my favorite features of the Ipsy glam bag is the excitement of the bag design. I have been a subscriber for years, and the fun designs (and of course awesome products) leave me coming back for more. This month's bag encompassed all things Halloween and featured the coolest spooky designs on the front and back. With crystal balls, leaves, and crescent moons, this black and white bag gave off a real Hocus Pocus feel, even with the hot pink lining. Great for travel, organizing, and daily use, I love these bags and have swapped out last month's version for this to hold my everyday makeup essentials.

Also included is a product card that features the "Beauty Nightmares" theme, information about the contents of this month's bag, and directions for creating a "Feline Fierce" look!

Now, on to the items!

BOBBI BROWN COSMETICS Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer & Primer - Deluxe Mini - Retail Value $25.00

My skin is at a place where it needs to be cared for more meticulously, and with that, moisturizing is key. While my skin is usually pretty normal, I have found with an uptick in sugar consumption, my face breaks out. Naturally, I have veered off my sugar-free path and am now paying the consequences. That being said, moisturizers don't tend to make my break-outs worse, and the natural geranium and grapefruit scent of this particular one are awakening to my skin. Created with a blend of vitamins, hyaluronic acid, and shea butter, this moisturizer goes on nicely without being oily. I wait a few minutes after application to put my makeup on, but once I do, it goes on smoothly and evenly, creating an even toned appearance. All of these things are exactly what I look for in a product like this, so I can say, I am extremely impressed!

PACIFICA BEAUTY Highlighter & Blush in Rose Gold and Cherry Spirit - Deluxe Sample - Retail Value $9.00

The item I chose this month was the blush and highlighter duo. Blush is a product I do use daily, and the pigments this month were gorgeous. The "Cherry Spirit" blush was a deep raspberry color that blended out nicely. It wasn't overpowering, and created a pretty fall flush. Topping that with a bit of "Rose Gold" and you've got yourself the perfect combo! The pan of this product is super cute and contains enough powder to keep you rosy for years. I also liked the inclusion of the mirror on the bottom of the container. Smart thinking on their part as when inside, it is always covered in blush powder. Overall, I really liked my choice this month and have swapped it out with my current blush as this one is prettier.

THREAD BEAUTY Face It Multi-Use Complexion Stick in 40 Light Neutral Warm - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $4.00

The next item I received was a deluxe sample of a multi-use complexion stick. I thought it was pretty brave sending a specific color in a subscription box, but because it is versatile and can be used as contour, I felt it was an okay inclusion. As you can tell by the swatch, the product was darker than my arm skin. I tried this out on my face, as that skin is darker than my arm, but the shade was too dark to use as a foundation. Creamy in texture, and blending nicely, I liked the overall formula, but needed a lighter shade. For now, I have been using it to contour my cheek bones, but feel this shade might be right on par for my summer glow. Too bad this wasn't sent a few months ago!

DEW OF THE GODS Sorb Hyaluronic Lip Butter in Strawberry Mandarin - Deluxe Mini - Estimated Value $8.16

Lip products are an absolute must right now with our dry Minnesota air. Fall is definitely my favorite season to incorporate deep colored lipsticks, but for daily wear at school, I prefer a gloss or butter. This particular lip butter goes on colorless, hydrating my ultra dry lips. With a scent/taste of strawberry and mandarin, every application is a dream, and I like the easy to use application tube. Definitely a win!

PUREHEALS Centella 80 Eye Cream - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $6.13

The last item I received was a deluxe sample of eye cream. At 36, I am definitely starting to see some crows feet, which I would love to have magically disappear, so I was excited to try this product. With an earthy, almost mint-like scent, this cream goes on easily and rubs in nicely. It doesn't give an oily feel, and I have been using it before applying my eye makeup, which hasn't caused a problem. Containing 80% of Centella Asiatica Complex Extract, this product is proven to moisturize, tighten, and brighten the area around the eyes. I have been using this for a few days now, and could possibly see a difference, but would like to receive a bigger sample to see if it's worth purchasing the full size version. Overall, I am all about trying new skincare products, and enjoy seeing the results, even if they are only slight.

Verdict

I love Ipsy Glam Bag and am always excited to try out new beauty products. While I have brands that I adore, I am an equal opportunity makeup/skincare user, and love seeing if my current faves can be outdone. This month I absolutely loved all five items, and have been incorporating every single one in my daily beauty routine. For $14, 5/5 is fantastic, and I am obsessed with the lip butter!! What do you think will be in store for the November curation? I can't wait to see!

I’ve gotta tell you, you and I ALWAYS have the exact same products even down to the choice items in our ipsy bags so I always read your reviews. The reviews are very often on spot where your opinions of how the products perform but I had to tell you that the pic of you using them this post is an absolutely gorgeous pic! Not that the others are bad at all but this 1 has a fairytale quality to it that is almost mystical…… Great for the season!
