Medusa's Make-Up Beauty Box is a vegan and cruelty-free makeup subscription box from the popular indie brand of the same name. Each month you'll receive a box of 3-5 vegan beauty products for just $22.95 with free shipping, with a total value of around $40. The shades and colors are always unique and the packaging is super fun!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The October 2024 Box

As a beauty enthusiast, I have been a subscriber to a slew of make-up boxes. But Medusa's Make-Up is still pretty new to me. When the opportunity to review this box arose, I jumped at the chance, and couldn't wait to see what it was all about. After my first box, I became obsessed - so what does October's box have in store?! Read below to find out!

Packaged in a pretty pink foil mailer, it was love at first sight! Adorned with sweet script and adorable make-up clip art, this subscription is already one of my faves! (And check out this cute bubble bag - I love these things for travel!!)

To start off the box, we received an info card that details the contents of the box, along with their retail values. This card is giving off spooky Halloween vibes, and I am sooo here for it!

This month we also received a pamphlet with information on Medusa's Make-Up as a brand and beauty box. I hope one of these days, we'll receive some of the glitter pots - they look extra fun!

Peony Cult Lashes Mascara - Retail Value $22.00

The first item we received was a product created by Peony Cult. 100% cruelty free and vegan, I was really excited to try this mascara as this is a product I use almost every single day. With a fluffy bristled wand, I had a feeling this would give me the results I was going for, but sadly the formula was pretty dried up. When brushed on my arm, I was able to grind out some black pigment, but when placed on my lashes, it did virtually nothing. I did check the packaging and tube itself for an expiration date, but couldn't locate one. A real bummer as this was definitely a product I would use, I have an email out to customer service.

Medusa's Electro Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $25.00

The next item I received was this super fun eyeshadow palette. Typically I wear pretty neutral colors, but with Halloween coming, I've decided to branch out with a little more color. This palette includes 12 different colors, including 4 matte, 6 shimmer, and 2 glitter. The color payout is decent, and the variety is extremely fun. I utilized the orange and black color for our Tiger Pride day, and the purple, blue, and green, paired with a butterfly dress. The colors lasted throughout the day, and even though I went a little more subtle than some, got quite a few compliments! The glitter does seem to shed a bit, but I actually like that look, so it doesn't bother me. Overall, I thought this was a great addition to the October curation, and can't wait to use it for my Halloween costume look!

While these photos don't do the pigment colors justice, here are a couple of the looks I created with the Electro Eyeshadow Palette.

LA FRESH Makeup Remover Wipe – Retail Value $3.00

When it comes to makeup, what goes on must come off, so I was happy to see a 24/7 makeup remover wipe included in this months box! At 8" X 6" in size, this slightly floral scented sheet does a fantastic job at taking off everything from foundation, to eyeshadow, to mascara! With a cute packaging design, this was juicy enough to completely finish the job, and left my skin feeling fresh and clean.

Medusa's Liquid Lipstick "Oh Bondage" –  Retail Value $14

I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed when I saw the color of this next item, but ended up loving it! Lipstick is something I love to wear, but only if it has the power to stay all day. This does, and the color actually worked for me! With a slight cupcake frosting scent, this dusty rose nude color seemed to make my lips appear larger, while staying in place for hours upon hours, even with the addition of gloss! Overall, I am loving this lipstick, and am incredibly interested in the "Hanky Panky" and "Whoopie" versions they have to offer!

I am loving this color, and the fact that this formula leaves my lips soft and moveable even though it is long wearing! It's hard to find a lipstick that can do all three!

Eyelashes – Listed Value $12

I have never in my life had fake eyelashes work for me, so I had a feeling this inclusion was going to be a bust. Beautiful in the package, these ultra long and voluptuous lashes are really fun, but were just too big for my hooded eyes. I have pretty long lashes naturally and with a couple of coats of extreme volume mascara, can fake the "fake eyelash" look. These were just too much and will probably go unused, unless I decide to give them another go for Halloween!

BONUS! Eyeshadow Brush – Listed Value $5

The last item we received was an eyeshadow brush. This little black brush was fabulous for applying different colors of the eyeshadow palette, and helped create a nice color payout. Perfect in size and easy to use, this was a great inclusion that will help in my everyday makeup application. A great way to end this month's box!

The Verdict

This month's curation of Medusa's Make-Up definitely had its highs and lows. I absolutely loved the lipstick, makeup brush, wipe, and eyeshadow palette, but was really bummed to receive a dried out mascara. The eyelashes would be fun if it was something I was into, but unfortunately I find them more work than they are worth. Overall, 4/6 isn't terrible, and with the addition of the bubble wrap makeup bag am pretty satisfied, but now have really high hopes for November! What was your favorite item in this month's bag? Let me know in the comments below.

Keep track of your subscriptions by adding this box to your subscription list or wishlist!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll likely receive the November box. Some past boxes are also available for a one-time purchase here.

Value Breakdown: I estimate I received $81.00 worth of items this month, which is more than three times the cost of the box! That's definitely a good value for $22.95!
