First Impressions
I've been loving the seasonal quarterly boxes so it was a pleasant surprise to learn about this bonus mystery box. I'm excited to dive into some new and cool finds.
This leaflet has some of the answers to the questions you might have about the products included in this mystery box. I like that they include a brand bio for each item so you can learn more about these local, conscious AU & NZ brands.
Now, on to the items!
Grown Alchemist Restorative Body Cream 120ml - Retail Value AU$31.00 ($20.83 USD)
First up, this Mandarin and Rosemary Leaf body cream smells deliciously citrusy and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and nourished. The texture is lighter than I expected, but it absorbs really easily and it's perfect for the warmer spring weather. I can always use another body cream and this is a good one to have on hand.
Micro Glow Derma Roller - The OG 0.3mm - Retail Value AU$49.99 ($33.59 USD)
I was most excited to receive this item because my aesthetician has been recommending that I use a micro derma roller for a while now. And, OMG, I should have listened and gotten one earlier. From the first use, I felt like my skin was noticeably tighter and more glowy. I don't want to overdo it, so I'm going to start with just rolling once a week for now, but I'm really happy with this tool so far.
It does sting a bit, but nothing unbearable, and the lightweight design makes it easy to use with a gentle touch. I also love the case it comes with to keep things hygienic, and the packaging has a sterile feel, which is super important when using micro needles on your face.
Wanderlightly Kakadu Plum + Chamomile Face + Body Mist 30ml - Retail Value AU$18.50 ($12.43 USD)
This soothing face and body mists features Kakadu Plum (a native Australian fruit that supposedly has the highest concentration of Vitamin C of any fruit in the world), Chamomile, and Quandong extract, another Australian native that's high in vitamin C, folate & magnesium.
I'm obsessed with face mists and love reapplying throughout the day, so I always welcome getting another one. And while I enjoyed trying this one, I don't think there was enough product to really get a sense of any benefits, and it seems incredibly expensive for the amount of product.
Wotnot Naturals Certified Organic Self Tan Glow Mousse - Retail Value AU$29.99 ($20.22 USD)
Winter has got me looking super pale, so I definitely want to use this before fully embracing shorts weather. But it seems like I might need to purchase some additional items before trying this out. Namely, an exfoliation mitt and an application mitt. I did like the Wotnot Face Tan Water Mist that we received in a previous RY box, so I have a good feeling about this one.
Skin Nutrient Pure Paw Paw Ointment Strawberry - Retail Value AU$8.99 ($6.06 USD)
I'm all in on my Lucas' Papaw Ointment, so this paw paw ointment probably didn't stand a chance. That said, I wasn't a fan of this ointment. Compared to the other one, it has a very thin texture and I didn't really care for the strawberry flavor either. I like using Lucas' Papaw Ointment not only for my lips, but also on my cuticles, elbows, knees and feet. But I'd feel weird using this strawberry flavored balm anywhere else.
MineTan Hydra Glow Sleep Serum - Retail Value AU$24.99 ($16.85 USD)
I'm surprisingly loving this hydrating serum with a triple-action acid formula that's supposed to provide instant moisture as as well a time release hydration through the next day. I first used this after the micro derm roller for even better absorption, and immediately noticed glowier and bouncier skin. But I've since been using this on its own at night and it seems to work well, too. I'm surprised I like this so much because I've never heard of this brand before, and it seems they're more of a self-tanning brand. The fragrance for this serum is a bit strong, but not unpleasant.
Grants of Australia Complete Care Natural Toothpaste with Fluoride - Retail Value AU$5.50 ($3.71 USD)
I've seen this brand of toothpaste at a lot of health food stores and I've been meaning to try them for a while now. Coincidentally, I'd just purchased the Mild Mint version and liked it, so I was happy to receive another one. This aloe vera and mint toothpaste foams up really well (is it weird that I equate extra foaminess to extra cleaning power?) just like the version I just bought, but I don't like the taste of this one as much, it's a bit too subtle.
b.fresh stop and smell the... roses. all day deodorant - Retail Value AU$12.95 ($8.73 USD)
One of my favorite deodorants is Weleda's Wild Rose deodorant spray, so I was curious to try this stick deodorant with a rose scent. And wow, I'm impressed. This stick applies really easily, appears clear on the skin and doesn't leave any white residue on clothing. The scent is a strong and pretty rose fragrance that really lasts. I was still smelling it well into the next day.
Blume Prebiotic Tonic Sparkling Prebiotic Tonic - Mango - Retail Value AU$4.49 ($3.03 USD)
I was experiencing some painful bloating (from scrafing down some raw carrots -- is that a thing?), so I grabbed this drink and it didn't make me feel completely better, but I think it helped. It's delightfully bubbly and the mango flavor is just subtle enough. I'd definitely want to try more of this probiotic tonic in better times.
Charlie's Fine Food Co Mini Melting Moments - Raspberry Bliss and Vanilla Bean - Retail Value AU$3.00 ($2.02 USD)
These are super cute! I like that they're small and they do kinda melt in your mouth. The biscuit is like a short bread, which wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it's crumbly and not too sweet. The filling was a bit hard and overall these look better than they were to eat.
Verdict
The RY boxes are great and the mystery boxes have the same great mix of beauty, lifestyle, snacks, and more. The star item for me this time around was the micro derm roller, I'm really excited to keep using it! The sleep serum was another surprise favorite-I could see myself restocking when it's empty. And I've already added the probiotic tonic to my cart.
