Silk + Sonder is a monthly planner subscription that makes planning, reflecting, and achieving easy and fun by delivering a new pen-to-paper experience every month. Each planner features new layouts that are "inspired by positive psychology, bullet journaling, and self-help books." For an annual plan, the cost is $15.75/month. There are also quarterly and monthly plans available.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Silk + Sonder November 2024

I'm stressed! My son has been ill for the past 4 days now, and after a trip to the doctor, we are playing a waiting game. I tell you what - my anxiety hasn't been this through the roof since I first started having panic attacks about 7 years ago, and I definitely haven't missed it. Anyways, to try to cope, I received the November Silk + Sonder planner and started filling it out and coloring to try and get some relief. Between that and husband hugs, I think I feel a tiny bit better. Because November includes the start of basketball, and my volleyball, our schedule is crazy, so seriously - this journal has become a necessity in my everyday routine.

While Silk + Sonder is a journal, it is also a planner, stress reliever, focus improver, mood booster, and productivity increaser! Centering around a new theme each month, this book has it all, and aligns with my needs perfectly. With 60 pages of amazingness, I look forward to opening this journal each day, and have found it to help keep my anxiety under control.

Joy: A feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

I enjoy the fact that Silk + Sonder chooses themes for each month, and love the fact that Meha is so very thoughtful when choosing each and every one. I really like the fact that "Joy" was chosen as November's theme. Sometimes I feel this feeling gets lost in the shuffle of work, kids, and to-do lists, but when you really stop and look around, there are things to be joyful about everywhere! The words in the welcome letter are very inspirational, and they have helped me seek out feelings of joy, even when I'm having an extra hard time. Now let's dive into this month's journal!

One of my favorite aspects of Silk + Sonder is receiving a new planner each month. Starting "fresh" has been really helpful, as yearly planners make me feel overwhelmed. While this does feature an entire year calendar, it is too small to start filling, but big enough to reference for the future. To start my month, I fill in my calendar with dates I already know, and watch the month fly by! (It's filling up fast - yikes!!) Staying organized is a huge help in managing my anxiety, and being able to quickly reference this calendar at the front of this planner is exactly what I need.

On page 6, we open up to a "Future Log." This includes two small calendars for the upcoming months. With just enough space to write small notes, I typically don't fill this calendar up too much, and really haven't even started thinking about December as I am so overwhelmed with November. On the opposite side, we received a page of blank graph paper. This paper can be utilized for whatever you see fit, and I appreciate all the space they give for extra notes, phone numbers, and long division and fractions examples!

Page 8 offers a space to reflect on the previous month. With an area to write down your wins, challenges, and favorite moments, this is a great way to learn what works and what doesn't. This page is one of my favorites, as it shows all of the month's accomplishments. It also features an area to write things down that you want to start, stop, and continue. October was actually pretty peaceful, minus the end! We had some fun hunting adventures, met my sisters new puppy, and had beautiful weather. My challenges for the month included Charlie's illness and some school drama. Hopefully November will offer us a healthy beginning, middle, and end!

I love the inclusion of the monthly intentions page. Here, you set intentions for yourself, and re-read them throughout the month. With six categories and six boxes to complete, there is plenty of room to jot things down. This isn't necessarily a to-do list, but a place to get yourself off to a good start and remind you of things that you would like to work on. My November intentions are pretty standard, but I really need to work on some fall organization and my physical health a little more.

As I have mentioned above, this is more than just a planner, and these trackers are proof of that. Page 10 and 11 offer a mood tracker and habit tracker. We are given space to fill in what our typical moods are, and fill it out throughout the month. This is great for tracking patterns, especially for me and my anxiety. I love the fact that these are customizable to track exactly how you want in such a pretty way! Silk + Sonder typically ships a week and a half before the next month starts, so I haven't started tracking November yet, but I am ready! I find this to be a great way to hold myself accountable, and while I keep some of my goals the same, tend to switch things up to keep it exciting. As you can see, I chose five habits to track for November, and filling in this circle is definitely satisfying to me, so it helps! May the month commence!

Page 12 offers another tracker, this one being for sleep. I have no trouble in this department, so I usually skip it, however lately I've been having trouble due to my worrying. Maybe I should think about tracking this for November! The opposing page, however, is another one of my favorites. Page 13 offers a Gratitude Log with space for every day of November to fill with things I am grateful for. It's amazing how many things we have to be grateful for each and everyday! Looking back on this throughout the month is a reminder for those extra hard times, when it's difficult to keep a positive mindset, which is definitely what I need right now!

Because this month's theme was "Joy," we received three thoughtful prompts regarding this topic that asks us to dive a little deeper into what we think of in terms of what sights, smells, and sounds that come up for you when you hear the word joy. This was an easy prompt for me, and re-reading it each day helps me to remember all of the things I have to be joyful about, even when things are stressful right now. Page 15 offered more journal prompts, but in a different format. Here I listed activities that I can integrate into my life that bring me joy, and ways that I can spread more joy to others. I love this going into the holiday season!

The next activity was a solo date exercise in which we plan an entire date for yourself to make you feel joyful. Of course this activity was easy for me! I have dates picked out for years! 🤣 This was great to write down, and I'm thinking I might leave it laying open so my husband might get a hint! Page 17 offers a beautiful poem titled "Joy." This poem is written by Hilda Conkling and encompasses the true definition of the word. Simple, yet beautiful, this writing really does help you feel joy just by reading it.

Page 18 and 19 offer two more fun activities: an adult coloring page, and a "Joy Sketch" page. I love the adult coloring page, and can you believe it, half of it is colored already?! Can you tell I needed to de-stress the last couple of days?! The "Joy Sketch" section was also fun, and while I typically don't do these sketches, had an easy time drawing little cartoons of things that bring me joy. Of course it's my kids because they are absolutely hilarious, but also morning coffee, and flowers. This activity helped me reach inside to a more positive place than I've been, which was really helpful even if I'm not the best artist! 😂

Every Silk + Sonder journal comes with a recipe, and though I typically don't try them, do appreciate the thought. This month's "Garlic Chili Oil Noodles" recipe looked tasty, but I didn't have a lot of the ingredients on hand. Has anyone given this recipe a go yet? How did they turn out?

On the opposing page, we received a "Joy Gum Ball Tracker". This activity is new to me, and is so cute! Featuring a ton of little empty gum balls, you are to make a point to participate in things that bring you joy this month. List some of these things below and color in a gum ball each time you have this feeling. I love this activity and while I haven't started it yet as it's not November, I'm excited to!

Blank sheets are always helpful and a great place to do some long division, write notes, and jot down addresses!

Each month we are given some sort of mind puzzle, and this month it was a "List It" memory game. The first list was writing down as many dog breeds as you can think of in 1 minute. I love these "Scattergories" kinds of puzzles, so this was really fun for me. I didn't do as well as I had hoped, but do have other things on my mind at the moment. Game nights with my sister-in-law definitely bring me joy, so this activity might have just inspired me to plan one soon! The opposite side features an expense tracker, and while lovely, because I utilize a Google doc, don't fill this out. Again- use this journal how you see fit!

While all of the activities are really useful, helpful, and great, I tend to put most of my time into these calendar pages. With sections for meal plans, to-dos, habits and activities, shopping lists, and specific day sections, I write everything here. It keeps me on schedule for each day and feeling accomplished, and there is NOTHING more satisfying than crossing out an item on my list. I also appreciate the extras these sheets have - while I sometimes don't fill out how I want to feel each week, this week I found it helpful to write it down and pray over it. This journal is just so darn helpful!!

Tidying up with one last quote, the dictionary definition of "Sonder", and the back cover, that's all there is to it. I have come to find that a key part of my day is when I sit and fill out my planner with my cup of coffee. This quiet time happens before the kids are awake, and kicks my day off to a good start before I start my school day. It is extremely important for me to keep a consistent schedule for managing my anxiety and creating much more positive life, and this journal definitely is a big help in that.

The Verdict

The end of October has ended quite crappy, so I am praying for joy (and health) as we head into November. This month is going to be busy with the start of sports, but it also makes it fun. It is a joy to watch my kids play basketball, and a joy for me to play volleyball, so I am excited. Because of all the varying practice days and times, I need to stay organized, and Silk + Sonder has become a necessity. Without this planner, I'd definitely be lost (as would my husband!) This month's planner was designed beautifully, and I loved the "Joy" theme along with the thoughtful activities we were given to help incorporate more of that feeling this month. I continue to be impressed with this subscription, and can't wait to see what's in store for December.

I typically tend to allocate about 15-20 minutes a day to this journal and flip from front to back reflecting, adding to, and processing what I have previously written. By the end of the month, my brain feels much more organized and stable. The beauty of this planner is remarkable, and the packable size means I can tote it around in my purse. Being extremely impressed with all aspects, I am really looking forward to discovering more about myself, all while staying organized and offering myself a little daily quiet time and important self-care.
