Opening The Box
In my opinion, wintertime is when the Margot Elena Subscription Box really shines, and they know how to get the good feelings going even from the cool blue and lilac colors with pops of holiday red. And while this box is certainly arriving in time for me to pluck some items out as presents this gifting season, my plan is usually to have this box's creams and aromas be a treat to myself. Let's see what they have for us.
Our info card introduces the month's curation as "favorite luxuries to light up the season!" The spread follows the pattern of the usual suspects—an eau de parfum, creams, a shower gel, some blank cards, and a few extras. Let's explore them together.
Here's What's Inside
TokyoMilk Star Cross'd Eau de Parfum, 1 fl oz — Retail Value $48
The TokyoMilk eau de parfum of the season is decidedly light, bright, and luminous, bringing both citrus and woody notes that conjure an image of snow sparkling on the boughs of a pine forest. The vintage-y unicorn image on the label only adds to the whimsy. Such an unexpected-yet-just-right winter selection.
Lollia Dream Body Butter, 5.5 oz — Listed Retail Value $44
Everyone needs a tub of Margot Elena to get them through the dry seasons. The white tea and honeysuckle of Dream are faint and powdery, and serve a similar role to the above eau de parfum: bringing a lightness to the table. As much as I love covering myself in M.E.'s unique, complex scents, I appreciate their holding back on the aroma for a product you'll be slathering all over your skin. Very tasteful. It's loaded up with cocoa butter, shea butter, avocado oil, and aloe, making it reliable for quenching parched skin.
Exclusive Look! Archive Yet to Be Written Hand Creme, 4 oz — Retail Value $24
The tubes of hand creme that arrive in Margot Elena boxes tend to be my most-gifted items. The tube size is so generous and the scents are so luxurious that those I've given them to have been really surprised and delighted by the treat. But this is one I'm going to hang onto. The grapefruit and neroli scent is hitting just right. It never fails to make me smile how citrus fruits are in season during my area's most wintry weather, a brilliant contrast that nature has granted us. And so the tart and lively experience of grapefruit (which I enjoy more to smell than to eat) is oh-so-welcome here.
New! M.E. Essential Luxuries Bottle Opener — Listed Value $20
Our only household accessory of the quarter is this golden corkscrew. It's simple, functional, and festive with its golden finish. It's perhaps not the most original or surprising home item M.E. has sent our way, but it's certainly suited to the season of celebrating!
Exclusive! Lollia Wish Fine Bathing Salts, 7.5 oz — Listed Value $15
The old me would've set bath salts aside as a giveaway item as soon as I'd unpacked it. But now that I have young daughters who bathe, bath salts have taken on new significance under my roof. A past M.E. box sent bath salts in a small jar with a cork lid and a wooden spoon, and we refill it with anything that's come our way since. Because while the salts do enhance bathtime with a nice aroma, it's just as meaningful to engage with the ritual of scooping it into the warm water. I'm glad we hung onto that little jar, because what we were sent this quarter comes in a paper bag inside of a paper tube—all that paper rings of "refill."
Library of Flowers True Vanilla Shower Gel, 8 fl oz — Retail Value $23
Our body wash this quarter has the sweetest blue birds on the bottle. On the back in small text is written "seeds for the garden of the imagination"—is this the perfect description for how these good vanilla smells swirl through the steam and enhance our shower thoughts, or what? This body wash boasts shea butter, jojoba oil, and aloe for a hydration boost leading to soft skin.
TokyoMilk Too Cool, Grandfather Sleeping, and Happy Valentine's Day Greeting Cards — Retail Value $5.50 each
Our three greeting cards of the month span themes—birthday, open-ended celebration, and Valentine's Day. All three are touched with glitter.
Exclusive! M.E. Snow Falling Candle, 3 oz — Listed Value $15
Okay, this is by far my favorite scent of the box. From this small, exclusive tin candle comes a beautiful pine scent like you wouldn't believe. Margot Elena calls the scent Snow Falling, with notes of winter pine and basalm—I'd call it spiced forest, as it isn't heavily sap-smelling, but brighter and more festive. Oh my gosh. I know that exclusive items can feel special to subscribers, but I hope they sell this scent on their site down the line so I can stock up.
Value - Was This Box Worth It?

Value Breakdown: Our Winter Margot Elena Box includes 8 items, counting the greeting cards all as one. The luminous take on the season, emphasizing citrus, is so spot-on for me. I love that they're counteracting the heaviest, dryest few months of all with ingredients and aromas that lift us up. Using a combination of retail values and listed values, the total retail value in this box is $204.50. This is a typical value for this box, and so worthwhile!
Key Takeaways
I loved every scent this quarter, but I'm veritably obsessed with the exclusive candle's Snow Falling pine scent. Margot Elena needs to bring this aroma to the masses! A close second favorite is the Yet to Be Written hand creme's grapefruit blend. And I always appreciate giant tubs of body butter.
