Retreat Yourself is an Australian quarterly lifestyle box that encourages you to slow down, make your health and well-being a priority, and put yourself first, as well as introduces you to conscious brands that have been carefully chosen to create a wonderful retreat at home.

For AU$109.00 ($73.00 USD), you'll receive up to AU$300.00 ($194.85 USD) of Australian and New Zealand wellness products, the 20-page wellness Retreat Guide, playlists, rituals, and more. Items range from home goods, health supplements, beauty products, and accessories, plus other fun finds.

This review is of the Retreat Yourself Summer 2024 "Pamper & Relax" box.

Author's Note: Since the box is Australia-based, where it is currently summer, this is the current box that's still available to purchase.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

My box arrived bursting with so many new and cool finds; everything was packaged securely and there was a QR code under the lid that took me to a relaxing playlist to help set the mood.

This leaflet has some of the answers to the questions you might have about the products included in this quarter's box. I like that they include a brand bio for each item so you can learn more about these local, conscious AU & NZ brands.

Now, on to the items!

Attitude Gratitude - Weekly Planner & Gratitude Journal - Retail Value AU$34.95 ($22.70 USD)

I was so excited to get this journal since I've been meaning to pick one up for a while. I always wish I were the kind of person organized enough to keep a journal, but honestly, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve started one only to let it slide a few weeks later. I have high hopes for this one though. The olive green vegan leather cover is very calming and I like that you fill in the dates yourself so you can start (or stop and start) anytime.

Rich Glen - Firming Elixir with Kakadu Plum, Persimmon & Rosehip - Retail Value AU$48.00 ($31.18 USD)

Love how bright and cheerful this elixir looks, and I’m so stoked it smells just as happy as it looks. I wasn’t a big fan of the Rich Glen body oil we got last season because the scent was way too much, but this persimmon-forward elixir is bold in the best way. It's a joy to use and it leaves my skin feeling moisturized and glowy.

Airyday - Golden Glow SPF50+ Eco Mini - Retail Value AU$13.00 ($8.44 USD)

Wow, this sunscreen tube is tiny but seriously pricey. I didn’t want to like it—but it’s honestly really, REALLY good. The soft shimmer it gives is gorgeous, and even though the tube is small, I think it’ll last a while since a little goes a long way. It feels really lightweight and smells flowery and divine.

Stray Willow - Exfoliating Body Mask - Retail Value AU$14.95 ($9.71 USD)

I’ve always done face masks, but I don’t think I’ve ever tried a body mask—so this was a really nice change of pace. I mixed it with a bit of water, applied it all over, and left it on for about 10 minutes until it was almost dry. Then I hopped in the shower and rinsed it off using circular motions. It was such a lovely sensory experience, and my skin felt super clean and soft afterward.

St. Louis Says - Volumising Duo (Shampoo & Conditioner) - Retail Value AU$42.00 ($27.28 USD)

So glad we received both the shampoo and conditioner set to get the full experience of this volumising duo. And I'm really loving it! From the sleek olive green bottles to the pretty zesty scent, not to mention how soft and clean it leaves my hair feeling, it’s ticking all the boxes for me.

Empire Australia - Refreshing Foot Balm (Coconut & Spearmint) - Retail Value AU$12.95 ($8.41 USD)

My feet need all the TLC they can get, so I was happy to receive this foot cream. The coconut oil is super nourishing and the spearmint essential oil is refreshingly soothing. Usually, after moisturizing my feet, I tend to cover them in socks to avoid leaving greasy footprints all over my floors, but with this cream, I didn’t have to! It absorbed quickly, leaving my feet feeling soft and hydrated without any slippery residue.

Retreat Yourself - Exfoliating Pumice Stone - Retail Value AU$7.95 ($5.16 USD)

Did you know you’re supposed to replace your pumice stone every 3 to 4 months? Yeah, me neither. BRB, swapping out the one that’s been lurking in my shower way longer than that for this fresh new one. Using a pumice stone has been part of my shower routine for as long as I can remember, but I usually only replace them when one breaks or mysteriously disappears. Turns out, I’m supposed to replace them more often. Sigh.

Ray Skincare - Violet Balsam Natural Perfume Oil - Retail Value AU$28.00 ($18.19 USD)

I love the idea of perfume oils for summer—they’re subtle, easy to apply, and perfect for the heat. But I wasn’t blown away by this woody fragrance. It’s supposed to have notes of smoky black pepper, cardamom, and bergamot, mixed with kunzea flowers and a base of violet and cedarwood. Unfortunately, my nose didn’t pick up on any of that—it came across as a bit one-note to me.

Zenj Australia - Sleepy Spray - Retail Value AU$35.00 ($22.73 USD)

Now this is a dreamy scent. With essential oils of lavender, ylang-ylang, and a hint of vanilla, this pillow spray is the perfect way to relax and bring on the zzzs. The first time I tried it, I drifted off to sleep without even needing my usual podcast sleep crutch.

Kind Bod - Electrify Shower Spell - Retail Value AU$24.00 ($15.59 USD)

This smelled absolutely incredible. In every RY box, there’s usually one item with a scent so strong and amazing that you can smell it even before unboxing—and this was that wow item. We’ve received one of these shower spells in a previous box, and while they can feel overpowering in the packaging, their effects in the shower are disappointedly subtle to me.

Naked Life - Non-Alc Mojito - Retail Value AU$3.50 ($2.27 USD)

I'm always down to try another non-alcoholic or wellness beverage from RY and this one was deliciously refreshing. I prefer the Italian Spritz from this same brand that we received in a previous box but this one was pretty good too.

20-Page Wellness Retreat Guide

The Retreat Yourself box also comes with a booklet filled with mindful activities, journaling prompts, a yoga flow, and a healthy recipe.

Verdict

Overall, this box was a delightful treat! It was very thoughtful to include a journal as we approach the new year, and that firming elixir is just divine. While a few products didn't hit it out of the park for me, I loved the variety and the fun of discovering new goodies. Definitely another win for RY!
