Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $14 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.
This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so this review is for just one of the bag variations you might receive!
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).
First Impressions
One of my favorite features of the Ipsy glam bag is the excitement of the bag design. I have been a subscriber for years, and the fun designs (and of course awesome products) leave me coming back for more. To celebrate the month of love, we received the cutest pink heart embossed bag. Complete with a pink, sparkly, heart-shaped lollipop zipper, this is the ultimate Valentine special!! Featuring heart fabric lining the inside, I instantly tossed my daily cosmetics into this gem of a bag to celebrate a fantastic month!
Also included is a product card that features the "Self Love Starts Here" theme, information about the contents of this month's bag, and a peek at a few of the upcoming 2025 Glam Bag products!
Now, on to the items!
BYROE Black Cherry Plump Lip Oil - Estimated Value $14.05
I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect from this lip oil after reading some of the Ipsy reviews. A lot of people were disappointed in the scent and taste, but I actually enjoyed it! Featuring a floral/mint taste, I did feel the plumping effects when applied, and found the light color enhanced my lips' natural color while creating a gloss-like look. This plumping oil was definitely not as strong flavored as some I have tried in the past and didn't burn or hurt, and I appreciated the ease of application. While I don't often use lip oils, I have found myself reaching for this one more than usual, and think I might buy the full size version once this is gone!
PACIFICA BEAUTY Glow Baby Super Lit Enzyme Scrub - Travel Size - Estimated Value $5.00
I have acne prone skin, and absolutely need to incorporate a scrub into my beauty routine or things can get real bad. I was excited to try this Glow Baby scrub by Pacifica as it is 100% vegan and cruelty free. Featuring vitamin C and glycolic acid, this scrub works gently to exfoliate and brighten skin, creating a smooth canvas for my makeup. With a light citrus scent, it was gentle on my skin and provided the exact results I was looking for. I am definitely a fan!
THE NUE CO. Barrier Culture Body Cream - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $5.00
The next item I received was a container of Nue Barrier Culture Body Cream. Packaged in a bright green tube, this creamy lotion provided my skin with a hydrated feel, all while being non-greasy. I did check out Ipsy reviews and found a lot of people were disgusted by the masculine scent of this cream, but I found it amazing. Definitely not as strong as some users were saying, this does have a bit of a woodsy scent, but similar to skin after coming out of a cedar sauna rather than mens' deodorant. I am always looking at ways to incorporate prebiotics into my skincare routine, and this is definitely a great way of doing that! Overall, I'm really impressed with this body cream and plan on purchasing a full size version as I truly enjoy the scent and its hydration qualities that much.
DEW OF THE GODS Pomeglaze Pomegranate + Retinol Facial Oil - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $10.00
This month, Ipsy had quite a few item choices, but I felt I couldn't go wrong choosing the DEW OF THE GODS facial oil. While I mentioned before that I have acne prone skin, it is very hit or miss now that I'm 36. Sometimes my skin is horrible, and other times it's great. When I chose my item, my skin was great, and so far the facial oil hasn't been creating any problems. Utilizing pomegranate, niacin amide, and retinol, this oil helps ward off fine lines and wrinkles, and feels just so darn good on my skin. With a fruity scent, I appreciate how soft this helps my skin feel, and love adding it to my face as my pre-bed routine. Overall, a great product!
BEAUTY FOR REAL Hydra-Set Translucent Finishing Powder in Translucent #1 - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $6.50
The last item I received was a decent sized pan of translucent finishing powder by BEAUTY FOR REAL. Honestly I don't use a ton of finishing powder, but have a whole drawer full of them. This one seems to work similar to others in that it helps blur makeup for a matte look. I did find this to wear well for the promised 16 hours, and will probably utilize this more in the warmer months, but it's just not something I utilize very often.
Verdict
I love Ipsy Glam Bag and am always excited to try out new beauty products. While I have brands that I adore, I am an equal opportunity makeup/skincare user, and love seeing if my current faves can be outdone. This month I really enjoyed all five items, and was thrilled with the results of the facial oil and lip oil! For $14, I was able to try some new skincare and makeup brands, and have been treated to an ultimate skin makeover! What do you think will be in store for the March curation? I can't wait to see!
