Peet’s Ultra Coffee Concentrate Review + Coupon, February 2025

Peet's Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster based in San Francisco, but you've probably seen their coffee on the shelves of your local grocery store, or you may even have a café in your area. In addition to the cups of joe and grounds you can buy locally, Peet's also offers a coffee subscription. Peet's beans are sourced ethically from the world's best growing regions, roasted by hand in small batches, and delivered fresh.

This is a review of the Ultra Coffee Concentrate. It cannot be subscribed to for regular shipment, but if you have a Peet's subscription, you can add it on for one-time shipment with your subscription order anytime.

The Cost: $21 for 8 fl oz (approx. 16 servings).

Shipping: $9 for U.S. shipping (including Alaska, Hawaii, and P.O. boxes). Spend $49+ or add this product to your existing subscription order for free U.S. shipping. Shipping to Canada starts at $20.25, and international shipping starts at $32.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

What's Inside

Today I'm here to show you that Peet's coffee just released this Ultra Coffee Concentrate. Exciting for people like me who appreciate having good coffee at the ready when they're traveling or camping! (In the case of the former, you may too have discovered that most hotel room coffee makers don't allow you to make a pot with your own grounds.) If you didn't see my note above, note that you can't subscribe to this concentrate alone, but if you already have a subscription, you can add this one for one-time shipment. The same goes for the Peet's mug, which I was extremely intrigued by not only because it looks nice with my green walls but because reviewers are talking up its handle and I just had to hold it for myself.

The Goods

Ultra Coffee Concentrate (8 oz) — Retail Value $21

Inside this 8-oz bottle is magical coffee with such incredible density that it expands into about 16 cups of joe, prepared however you like. Similar to using coffee grounds, 1 tablespoon is the suggestion for 1 6-ounce cup of coffee, but you may want to be generous with it if you like you like your coffee strong. On the bottle we're shown three ways to prepare this concentrate: as cold brew, as a latte either hot or iced, and as an Americano. 1 Tbsp has about 75mg of caffeine in it, which is a smidge higher than average (the Goog says there's usually 71mg of caffeine in 6 oz of coffee).

Prepared cold

I started with the quickest route to caffeine, which is to fill a glass with 6 oz of water, about 8 ice cubes, and 1 Tbsp of Peet's concentrate. The flavor is bold, dark, and strong. A really good, quality route to a quick jolt, with depth and richness to its flavor. I drank about half of this glass as-is, but then decided to add a splash of unsweetened vanilla almond milk to the second half to tone down the intensity. It got me thinking of all the amazing preparations that could come of this concentrate.

And in fact, I later found a recipe right there on the Peet's website for a Blueberry Brown Sugar Iced Coffee drink. Wow, sounds delightfully weird and amazing.

Prepared hot

Just like with the cold brew route, you can certainly add a Tbsp of concentrate to 6 oz of hot water and make an Americano, the closest thing to a "regular" cup of hot coffee. But I chose to heat up enough milk to fill my new 16 oz Peet's mug and give it a whirl with my frother to make a simple home latte. I used 2 Tbsp of concentrate, which is shy of the ratio recommendation and did indeed leave me it tasting light on the "espresso," but the great thing about this concentrate is that you can add it little by little for a customized flavor. I think I enjoyed it even better warm and creamy.

Est. Peet's Mug in Gold — Retail Value $14.95

This mug comes in white with gold text, or gold with white text. The smooth finish and earthy tone is just my speed. The handle is pretty nice! It's roomy and structured so can either hold it comfortably by the handle itself or slide your fingers under it to hold the mug by the body. This 16 oz mug is indicated on the bottom as being microwave and dishwasher safe.

I usually drink my morning coffee from a 12-ounce mug, so this one feels very big compared to my face. But when the need to go grande arises, I'm now prepared.

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $21 for 8 fl oz (approx. 16 servings).

Do I recommend Peet's new Ultra Coffee Concentrate? I do. I can't see myself using it daily, but I love this craft coffee option as a travel and camping solution. My husband, who swims laps in the wee hours of the morning a few days per week, will sometimes add a little to his sport water bottle, which is a perfect 5:00 am shortcut. As for the mug, it's great. The color is creamy and wonderful, the smooth finish is pleasant, the size is roomy, and the handle is comfortable.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! This isn't a pre-curated box; rather it's a review of two Peet's products that you can purchase on their own or choose as a one-time add-on to your existing Peet's coffee subscription.
