Lunchtime can be underwhelmingly boring in my house. If I don’t plan, I either order takeout (again) or make the most random meal with whatever is in the fridge—sad-looking cucumber included. So this time, I decided to be responsible and try EveryPlate, a budget-friendly meal kit, to have some easy, go-to meals on hand.
With prices starting at $2.99 per serving, I was curious: Is it actually a good deal? And more importantly, does it taste good? Here’s how it went.
First Impressions
Ordering is crazy simple. You pick a meal plan:
- Smart & Fit
- Meat & Veggie
- Quick & Easy
- Family Favs
- Veggie
Then, you scroll through 27+ new recipes each week and pick your meals. That’s it.

When my box arrived, though, I was a little surprised. Instead of having each meal packed into its own bag, everything was just loose in one big box. At first, I thought they forgot something, but it was all there, just in a DIY sorting situation. I’m guessing this cuts down on packaging, which I appreciate, but if you’re used to just grabbing a bag and getting straight to cooking, this setup takes a little more effort.
That said, everything was fresh and packed well, thanks to the ice packs keeping it all chilled.
The Cooking Experience

This is where EveryPlate felt a little different. Since the ingredients weren’t pre-sorted, I had to dig through my fridge instead of just grabbing a meal bag. Not a dealbreaker, but something to note if you’re all about convenience.
Most meals took about 30 minutes, which is pretty standard. But here’s the thing:
WHERE are the air fryer instructions?!
For the crispy chicken recipes, EveryPlate only gave stovetop or oven instructions. And let’s be real—who is turning on the oven for a single chicken breast?! I had to wing it with my air fryer, which was fine, but I wish they had included some guidance.
Taste Test & Portion Sizes

Alright, let’s talk flavor. The crispy chicken recipes? Solid. They weren’t mind-blowing, but they were comforting and homey, like something I’d cook for myself anyway. The sides? Simple but satisfying.
Out of the meal options, the tacos were the only ones truly disappointing. I didn’t even take a picture because they were that underwhelming. I guess you can’t win all the time.
Still, the portions were decent. Not massive, but enough to fill you up. If you have a big appetite, you might want to add a little extra on the side or add more protein, but I think it’s fair for the price.
Value for Money
At $2.99 per serving, EveryPlate is one of the cheapest meal kits out there. And with grocery prices being ridiculous lately, it’s honestly a great deal if you want an affordable way to meal plan without stressing over ingredients.
Final Thoughts: Would I Order Again?
Honestly? I don’t know.
I love cooking and trying new flavors, but EveryPlate isn’t really made for that. This is a great option if you like simple, classic meals that come together fast. However, if you love bold flavors and variety, you might want to check out other meal kits.
Would I recommend it? Yes, but only to the right person. If you want no-fuss, budget-friendly meals that feel homemade, EveryPlate nails it. If you’re looking for something a little more exciting, you might want to keep searching.
