First Impressions: Wantable Style Edit

First Impressions is a series that (re)introduces and reviews new brands to My Subscription Addiction, drawing from readers' requests for an insider's first look. Interested in seeing more reviews from this brand, or have another box in mind that you'd like to see reviewed? Let us know in the comments.

Wantable is a personal styling service for women and men that delivers clothing and accessories based on your style profile. You'll initially pay a $20 styling fee to sign up for your first (or next) clothing box. Women can choose to receive items from StyleActive, and/or Sleep & Body. Men, on the other hand, have access to items from Men's Active Edit.

Each box includes seven items to try on from home. You'll have a week to decide what's right for you, or you can request a one-time extension of three days. The styling fee will be applied to any purchase made from your “Edit” and you'll receive 20% off your entire order if you keep five items.

This is one of today's best personal styling services for revamping your entire wardrobe!

This review is of Wantable Style Edit. Wantable also offers Active, Sleep & Body, and Men's Active Edit.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

A Case of the Wardrobe Woes

I've been living in maternity clothes for just shy of four years now. Considering I'm over a year postpartum with my second child, I'm beyond ready to kick them to the curb. But just one problem—nothing fits anymore!

I naively assumed after giving birth to my son that I'd magically shrink back down to my pre-baby sizes. After all, I lost most of my pregnancy weight within a few months after having my daughter. Wouldn't things go the exact same way each time?

Apparently not...

Fourteen months later I realized that "bouncing back" physically could take a while. Especially since I'm tandem feeding and have been trading most of my workouts for naps and snacks.

While I've finally embraced this season of life, I decided I needed serious help finding the right clothes for my current body. Thankfully, Wantable reached out to help! They gifted me $500 in credits to try out their personal styling service and allowed me to try any of their Edits.

So, I decided to start with their most popular line—Style Edit!

How this Wantable Review Series Will Work

My Wantable reviews will follow a slightly different format than our standard recurring reviews for personal styling services. Here's what to expect:

  • I'll try out each of Wantable's Edits for women, one box per review.
  • I'll only show myself wearing the items I loved (or liked)—same as if I were shopping in person with friends or family.
  • I'll then show what the other items looked like, just not on me.
  • I'll continue getting restyled and reviewing new boxes until I use all of my credits.

Let's see what I got in my first Wantable Style Edit box!

My First Wantable Style Edit Review

What I Loved

Topanga Printed Midi Dress in Mauve Mist Floral, Size: XL (14) - $99

When signing up for Wantable Style Edit I let my stylist know I wanted versatile and comfortable items. I wanted clothing I could wear to church and throughout the week for coffee meetups with friends or for date nights with my husband.

I thought this was the perfect dress for all the above! It was light and flowy, and I felt way more confident in it than I typically do in other dresses. I loved that it was modest, yet fun and didn't cling to my stomach.

While I normally wouldn't pay this much for a dress, I simply couldn't let this dress go. So, I kept it!

What I Liked

Harriet Sweater in Blue Sur, Size: XL (14) - $80

I discovered this top when using Wantable's Stream feature and instantly favorited it so my stylist would know to include it in my box. I loved both the color and texture of the fabric.

This would be the perfect top for my weekly meetings at SUCCESS—and no one would have to know if I paired it with joggers (like I did above).

I ultimately decided that it made my torso look a tad too short, so I didn't get it. However, if I ever come across a nearly identical item that's a few inches longer I'll add it to my cart immediately.

Merrit Island Short Sleeve Tee in Hunter Green, Size: XL (14) - $52

The Hunter Green color of this shirt caught my eye in the Stream. So, of course, I had to try this on as well.

While I was head over heels for the color and soft fabric, the shirt clung too tightly around my stomach which was the only reason I didn't keep it.

What Didn't Work

Brsh Hacci Raglan V-Neck Tunic in Grey, Size: XL (14) - $59

This top was super comfortable but was too short and tight in the mid-section area. I appreciate that this tunic could be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Brentwood Boat Neck Top in Hunter Green, Size: XL (14) - $52

Pretty much the same review for this one as the other Hunter Green shirt above—adored the color, but not the fit.

Whitecap Gauze Button Up Shirt in White, Size: XL (14) - $69

I liked the semi-professional style of this shirt, but it didn't look quite right on me. Similar to some of the other items, it was a bit short in length and too tight around the torso.

I'd actually retry this item in a few months once I get back to training more consistently in the gym and cleaning up my diet.

Gigi Baby Barrel Cropped Jean in Birch, Size: 14 - $89

If you decide to try these I highly suggest going up a size! I realized after the fact that 48% of customers say the fit is "Too Small" which matches my experience to the tee.

So, Did Wantable Style Woo Me?

Yes, I was successfully wooed by Wantable Style Edit! I had a blast trying out this personal styling service for the first time.

Overall, I thought my stylist did an amazing job selecting items that fit both my style preferences and sizes. This can be a tough thing to do considering I fall right in between standard and plus sizing and shy away from most styles.

Ultimately, I decided to keep the Topanga dress from this box and pass on the rest. So far I've gotten plenty of use out of this dress and celebrated my wardrobe revamp victory by doing a mini photoshoot with my daughter. This was the first time in months that I left a shopping trip not empty-handed or frustrated. 🙂

To get the full Wantable experience I'll also be trying out Active Edit and Sleep & Body Edit. Stay tuned for my continued shopping spree journey with Wantable-I can't wait to see what they send me next!

PS - I've got $401 credits left to use and will be a bit stricter about how I use them from now on.
