Silk + Sonder March 2025
March is almost here, and my schedule is getting packed! Charlie turns ten this month, while my husband turns 40! State basketball is in the air, and so is spring break. While I’m extremely excited for this month, I’m also feeling a bit stressed. With so much going on, I need the Silk + Sonder planner to keep me organized and on track. Seriously, without this journal helping me manage practices, games, and work, I think I would go crazy!
While Silk + Sonder is a journal, it is also a planner, stress reliever, focus improver, mood booster, and productivity increaser! Centering around a new theme each month, this book has it all, and aligns with my needs perfectly. With 60 pages of amazingness, I look forward to opening this journal each day, and have found it to help keep my anxiety under control.
Vitality: The state of being strong, activity, and full of energy, both physically and mentally, allowing one to live life with enthusiasm.
I enjoy the fact that Silk + Sonder chooses themes for each month, and love the fact that Meha is so very thoughtful when choosing each and every one. "Vitality" was chosen for March, and I found it to be just what I needed going into such a busy month. Let's get started!
One of my favorite aspects of Silk + Sonder is receiving a new planner each month. Starting "fresh" has been really helpful, as yearly planners make me feel overwhelmed. While this does feature an entire year calendar, it is too small to start filling, but big enough to reference for the future. To start my month, I fill in my calendar with dates I already know, and watch the month fly by! This month looks quite a bit different from February as there is a lot less basketball practice, but other things seem have taken over! Staying organized is a huge help in managing my anxiety, and being able to quickly reference this calendar at the front of this planner is exactly what I need to manage life without having a panic attack.
On page 6, we open up to a "Future Log." This includes two small calendars for the upcoming months. With just enough space to write small notes, I typically don't fill this calendar up too much, and because March is so stressful, I haven't even started thinking about April. Ekkk!! On the opposite side we received a page of lightly gridded paper that we can utilize for whatever purpose we need.
Page 8 offers a space to reflect on the previous month. With an area to write down your wins, challenges, and favorite moments, this is a great way to learn what works and what doesn't. This page is one of my favorites, as it shows all of the month's accomplishments. It also features an area to write things down that you want to start, stop, and continue. February was busy, and I had a lot of wins such as the MyoLift Party I hosted, a basketball tournament my son won, a pie event we hosted at school, and beading fun. I struggled a bit with my work this month as it was extra emotionally draining, but I had a lot of favorite moments to balance it out. This coming month I wrote down that I would like to start being more positive, stop focusing on the negative, and continue my low carb diet. Looks like I have a big March coming up!
I love the inclusion of the monthly intentions page. Here, you set intentions for yourself, and re-read them throughout the month. With six categories and six boxes to complete, there is plenty of room to jot things down. This isn't necessarily a to-do list, but a place to get yourself off to a good start and remind you of things that you would like to work on. I have a lot of intentions for March, and most of them are in the "Spiritual Health" column. I really want to focus on my faith this month, and I think that will help me with all of the others. Alleluia!
As I have mentioned above, this is more than just a planner, and these trackers are proof of that. Page 10 and 11 offer a mood tracker and habit tracker. We are given space to fill in what our typical moods are, and fill it out throughout the month. This is great for tracking patterns, especially for me and my anxiety. I love the fact that these are customizable to track exactly how you want in such a pretty way! Silk + Sonder typically ships a week and a half before the next month starts, so while I have created my "keys" for each of these trackers, I haven't yet started tracking. I have some goals to hit by March 31st, and this fresh monthly start has been key to my motivation! May the month of March kick off in a good way!
Page 12 offers another tracker, this one being for sleep. I have no trouble in this department, so I usually skip it. The opposing page, however, is another one of my favorites. Page 13 offers a Gratitude Log with thirty one "rays" available to write an item each day for the month of March. It's amazing how much a mindset can change for the better when you start your day off journaling what you are grateful for. I highly recommend it, even if you don't have this particular planner!
Because this month's theme was "vitality," we received a couple thoughtful prompts regarding this topic. I was asked to identify three barriers to vitality in my life. As well as to reflect on potential positive changes in my life if those barriers were removed. Like I mentioned above, February was filled with a lot of work stress. Education is sort of a mess right now, and my position has a lot of things going on surrounding it, which is unnerving and stressful. This prompt helped me identify things that are in my control and helped me to focus on those, which was helpful. On the following page, I was asked to talk about self-care and how it maintains my vitality. I definitely do a lot of self care practice to help me keep my head above water and reflected on that, which again was helpful and calmed down my anxiety a bit!
The next activity was one that was a new to me. This "Energy Audit" has you think of all the activities you engage in on a daily basis. These energy boosters and energy drainers are used to give you insights to your monthly patterns and see where you can "trim the fat".
The opposing page offers a beautiful poem titled "A Song of Hope." This Charles Bertram Johnson writing is beautiful and uplifting.
Page 18 and 19 offer two more fun activities: an adult coloring page, and a "My Favorites" page. I love the adult coloring page, but so far I haven't had time to take out the markers. I did enjoy the "Favorites" section as it helped me reflect on some positives when I'm feeling a little down.
Every Silk + Sonder journal comes with a recipe, and this month's recipe was one I actually have made multiple times and LOVE! Seriously - you need to try this one!
On the opposing page, I received a "Vitality Sketch" page. Here I sketched a few pictures of things that give me a sense of energy, strength, and vitality. I drew my family, flowers, and a cross to represent Jesus.
Blank sheets are always helpful and a great place to do some long division, write notes, and jot down addresses!
Each month we are given some sort of mind puzzle, and this month it was a sudoku puzzle. I love these, but this month's was hard! I worked on it some, but got stuck. I'll have to circle back with my morning coffee. The opposite side features an expense tracker, and while lovely, because I utilize a Google doc, don't fill this out. Again- use this journal however it works for you!
I love the fact that this journal always starts on a Monday, even if that means it starts the month prior. Here you can see Monday is the 24th of February, and I am ready to take on the week. As far as this journal as a whole goes, I tend to put most of my time into these calendar pages. With sections for meal plans, to-dos, habits and activities, shopping lists, and specific day sections, I write everything here. It keeps me on schedule for each day and feeling accomplished, and there is NOTHING more satisfying than crossing out an item on my list. I also appreciate the extras these sheets have - while I sometimes don't fill out how I want to feel each week, this week I found it helpful to write it down and pray over it. This journal is just so darn helpful!!
Tidying up with one last quote, the dictionary definition of "Sonder," and the back cover, that's all there is to it. I have come to find that a key part of my day is when I sit and fill out my planner with my cup of coffee. This quiet time happens before the kids are awake, and kicks my day off to a good start before I start my school day. It is extremely important for me to keep a consistent schedule for managing my anxiety and creating much more positive life, and this journal definitely is a big help in that.
The Verdict
After a decent February, I am ready to take on a wild March! We are still trying to balance life with a few last basketball practices and all of these birthday parties and to help keep track of our lives, Silk + Sonder has become a necessity and without this planner, I'd definitely be lost (as would my husband!) I continue to be impressed with this subscription, and can't wait to see what's in store for April.
I typically tend to allocate about 15-20 minutes a day to this journal and flip from front to back reflecting, adding to, and processing what I have previously written. By the end of the month, my brain feels much more organized and stable. The beauty of this planner is remarkable, and the packable size means I can tote it around in my purse. Being extremely impressed with all aspects, I am really looking forward to discovering more about myself, all while staying organized and offering myself a little daily quiet time and important self-care.
