BoxyCharm by Ipsy “Spring Into Self-Care” Review – April 2025

Nature? Not quite. Self-care? Absolutely. Let’s talk wins, fails, and why my under-eyes are thriving.

This month’s BoxyCharm by Ipsy theme is “Spring Into Self-Care,” and while I get the sentiment—blooming flowers, warmer air, that irresistible urge to deep clean your soul—I’m gonna be honest: nothing in this box screams “nature walk.” That said, it does scream “treat yourself,” and I’m not mad about that.

BoxyCharm by Ipsy is a $32 monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. It always provides great value compared to the cost of the box and includes 5 beauty items, including nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. (At least 4 of those items will be full-sized.) If you are a makeup or skincare addict, we recommend this box!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

Okay, first off – I love that the box now arrives at my doorstep instead of the mailbox. I forgot to make my product picks this month, so this is the “surprise me” curation—and honestly, not bad.

What’s Inside

Smood Calm Me Down Antioxidant Cleanser – Retail Value: $24

A cream-to-foam cleanser that didn’t make my skin feel like sandpaper? Color me impressed. It’s packed with antioxidant-rich ingredients, including licorice root and a touch of gentle exfoliation. I usually side-eye foaming cleansers because they leave me parched, but this one left my skin feeling soft and low-key glowy.

Repurchase Power? Yes!

Feel Probiotic Moisturizer – Retail Value: $48

New brand alert! This probiotic cream is all about barrier support, which I love in theory. But in practice? It’s thicc with two c’s—too much for my oily skin. Smells kind of herbal, like the spa aisle of Whole Foods. I didn’t hate it, but I also didn’t want it anywhere near my T-zone. Probably better as a hand or body cream.

Repurchase Power? Not for me. But dry skin fireflies might love it.

Morphe Bake & Set Setting Powder – Retail Value: $15

Shade: Banana

Listen—I’m not a setting powder obsessive, but this one had me doing double takes in the mirror. The Banana shade is spot-on for my tan/olive undertone. It brightens without looking chalky, and locks in my makeup like a vault. My concealer stayed put through a sweaty Target run and a mid-day nap. Not kidding.

Repurchase Power? A thousand times yes.

Defiance Beauty Sovereign Bronzer – Retail Value: $22

Womp womp. This was the letdown of the bunch. I’ve been desperate for a buttery, flattering bronzer, and this just... wasn’t it. Matte, muddy, and more contour than bronze. Even on my tanned skin, it showed up too harsh and patchy. Total meh moment.

Repurchase Power? Nope. Hard pass.

Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Longwear Gel Eyeliner – Retail Value: $20

Shade: Compassion (Burgundy)

I don’t usually reach for non-black liners, but this deep burgundy shade is surprisingly wearable. It leans more brown on my skin, but still adds a little something to a neutral eye. Creamy, blendable, and stays put once it sets. A solid win from Rare Beauty (no surprise there).

Repurchase Power? Definitely. I’ve already added other shades to my wish list.

Beauty Boost: Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair – Retail Value: $92

Now this is how you do a Beauty Boost. I’ve used up multiple tubs of this stuff before, and it never disappoints. Rich, velvety, lightly fragranced—and my skin drinks it up. I like to slather it on when I’ve overdone it with actives or when my face is looking blah. I always wake up plump, glowy, and nourished.

Repurchase Power? Already did. Will continue to.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $32 + Beauty Boost

Value Breakdown:

  • Smood Cleanser: $24
  • Feel Moisturizer: $48
  • Morphe Setting Powder: $15
  • Defiance Bronzer: $22
  • Rare Beauty Eyeliner: $20

Retail Value: $129 (box) + $92 (Tatcha) = $221 total

Takeaways

Aside from that dud of a bronzer, this box really pulled through. The Morphe powder and Rare Beauty liner are both in my current rotation (and I try a lot of products). The Smood cleanser surprised me, and Tatcha? Always the queen of overnight glow-ups.

Did it match the “Spring into Nature” vibe? Ehh, not really. But it did give spring softness and skin-forward energy. I’d give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Other Things You Should Know
