First Impressions
Since Walmart did their reboot a few seasons ago, their shipping has been top notch. For the past year, I have received the quarterly Walmart Beauty Box within a few weeks of the season change. I am all about timeliness, and I just couldn't wait to see what this season might bring. What was in store to start off the spring of 2025? Read below to find out!
This quarter we received a pamphlet detailing the "Beauty, in bloom" theme. With over 7 different options listed, you are guaranteed to receive at least five great finds. Being a mix of skin care, hair care, and make-up, the choices were rounded out quite well, but just what size items did they send?
COVERGIRL Lash Blast Supercloud Mascara - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $9.98
The first item listed on the content card and the first item I opened was a full-size CoverGirl mascara. This large tube of "Super Black" mascara is made with an air-whipped emulsion formula that boosts your lashes by up to 125% in length. Featuring a flexible bristle brush, this vegan mascara goes on easily and is packed with vitamin B5. While not waterproof, it is designed for 24-hour wear and is gentle on lashes. I love mascara and use it daily. I have a preferred brand but am always looking for something new. This version did create long lashes and added volume with several applied layers.
Here you can see the results. I applied quite a few layers and was able to create some pretty long lashes. I found that this formula lasted all day without smudging, which I appreciated. I also loved the jet black color. Although it didn’t give me my desired effect after only a few swipes, I won’t be replacing my current mascara with this one, but I did appreciate giving it a try.
SALLY HANSEN Salon Effects Perfect Press-On Nails - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $7.48
As a country girl, I use my hands a lot, and my nails even more. Between gardening, cleaning, cooking, and being outside, my nails are usually pretty dinged up. That being said, I love dressing up and adding my accessories for a night out on the town. Because my nails take a beating, I really like to cover them up with press-on nails, so I was excited to try out this Sally Hansen brand. The "French Twist" design I received will be perfect for my niece's upcoming wedding, as my dress is black. In the package, 30 nails are included with two different application methods. This was new to me, but I loved the option of either gluing them on or using the adhesive tabs! The length, design, and feel of these nails were perfect, and I am so happy Walmart decided to include them in their spring box!
As I mentioned above, these nails came with both glue AND adhesive tabs. I prefer the tabs, as they stay on well but don't seem to damage my nails as much when taking them off. Here you can see what the nails look like when using the tabs. Because I want to save these for a wedding, I only applied one nail but loved the natural, yet fun, results it gave!
CERAVE Gentle Hydrating Shampoo - Estimated Value $0.75
I’ve had really good luck with CeraVe as a brand in the past, but didn’t know they had their own shampoo line. This season, I received a one-ounce tube of gentle hydrating shampoo. This odorless shampoo is designed to gently clean hair without disrupting the scalp barrier. Utilizing three essential ceramides and hyaluronic acid, this formula is free from sulfates, MIT, parabens, and fragrance. Typically, I like a scented shampoo and don’t have trouble with scalp irritation, so this wasn’t a great fit for me. My husband, however, struggles with psoriasis and enjoyed this gentle formula, wanting the full-size version when his current shampoo runs out.
NYX Professional Makeup The Face Glue Gripping Primer - Estimated Value $0.50
I've said this before, but I hate foil packets. I know this is a pretty inexpensive box that has included two full-size items so far, but I wish this primer had come in a small tube instead. These packets are hard to open, hard to store, and even though they sometimes contain enough product for a few uses, they end up leaking or drying out before the next day even comes around. Grrr!! Anyway, rant over. I have never tried the NYX Glue Gripping Primer, but found it worked pretty darn well to hold onto my tinted face serum. I loved the overall result it gave after I applied my makeup and blush, and found it helped my serum last longer than when applied by itself. Overall, I was pretty darn satisfied, though I would like to receive more in the future to try it multiple times.
DEGREE Sexy Intrigue Dry Spray - Estimated Value $1.52
I believe it was thanks to the Walmart Beauty Box that I became a convert to spray deodorants a few years ago. While I currently don't use the Degree brand, I was happy to give this one a try. Reminiscent of a Victoria's Secret perfume scent, I am loving the "Sexy Intrigue" aroma of this spray. Including both antiperspirant and deodorant, I seriously smelled good for days! With a 72-hour promise, this stuff really works, goes on easily, and doesn't stain my clothes. Overall, I enjoyed this so much that I might make the switch over!!!
Verdict
Spring has sprung and I am excited to start gardening! This season's Walmart Beauty Box featured a great mixture of hair, nail, and makeup items that I enjoyed trying. My favorite items were the deodorant, press-on nails, and primer, though I also enjoyed the mascara. Overall, this month's box had a retail value of $20.23, which is almost 3 times the cost of the box, and had a great mix of haircare, skincare, and makeup. With this spot-on curation, I am excited to see what they will have up their sleeve for the summer quarter!
