Wantable for Men (Men’s Active Edit)

First Impressions is a series that (re)introduces and reviews new brands to My Subscription Addiction, drawing from readers' requests for an insider's first look. Interested in seeing more reviews from this brand, or have another box in mind that you'd like to see reviewed? Let us know in the comments.

Wantable is a personal styling service for women and men that delivers clothing and accessories based on your style profile. You'll initially pay a $20 styling fee to sign up for your first (or next) clothing box. Women can choose to receive items from StyleActive, and/or Sleep & Body. Men, on the other hand, have access to items from Men's Active Edit.

Each box includes seven items to try on from home. You'll have a week to decide what's right for you, or you can request a one-time extension of three days. The styling fee will be applied to any purchase made from your “Edit” and you'll receive 20% off your entire order if you keep five items.

This is one of today's best personal styling services for revamping your entire wardrobe!

This review is of Men's Active Edit. Wantable also offers Style Edit, Active, and Sleep & Body for women.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

Swapping Places with my Wife

By now, you're probably used to reading Kat's Wantable reviews. But today we've swapped places, and I get a turn to review Men's Active Edit. I'm assuming my wife gained their sympathy after showing them my closet because they decided to throw $500 my way, too. Good, I needed it—the Florida heat has wrecked my work shirts.

How This Series Will Work

Why reinvent the wheel? I'm just going to do the same thing as my wife, which means:

  • I'll try out Wantable for men, one box per review.
  • I'll only show myself wearing the items that worked (or at least looked ok).
  • I'll then show the rest of the items I received.
  • I'll continue getting new boxes until I use all of my credits.

Let's see what Wantable Men's Active Edit delivered this month.

My First Wantable Men's Active Edit Review

What Worked

Benton Short Sleeve Vintage Soft Shirt by Flag & Anthem (L) - $59.50

Definitely the best shirt from this month's box. While I generally avoid button-up shirts, I liked the colors and patterns on this one. It felt patriotic and was lightweight. I plan to wear this shirt both to work and to church.

Power Fade Short Sleeve Polo by Glyder (L) - $68

The moisture-wicking and anti-odor properties of this shirt won me over. I didn't mind the color either and thought it would look good in both Spring and Summer.

Just a heads up, though, the Hydrangea color is much brighter in person than online.

Zephyr Shirt by Glyder (M) - $74 (price at time of review)

I liked the fit and color of this shirt. The breathable stretch knit would work well for Florida summers. However, I try to avoid full button-ups as much as possible, so I'm not sure I'm as committed to this one as the previous two.

What Didn't Work

Naples Performance Polo in Pink/Blue by Flag & Anthem (M) - $59.50

I didn't request this shirt, but my stylist thought this would be a good item to try. While I do like this brand and the moisture-wicking properties of their shirts, I'm not a fan of the pink.

Everywear Polo in Black by Tasc - $74

Kat wanted me to try this shirt since it's made with bamboo viscose and organic cotton. It fit well and was very comfortable, but I'm not willing to pay $74 for a black polo. Plain and simple.

Short Sleeve Polo by Liverpool (M) - $68

Way too heavy for the Florida heat. Hard pass!

Wrinkle-Free Lilac Performance Stretch Mini by Brisk (L) - $90 (price at time of review)

Kat also threw this in the mix for me. Despite liking the light material and partial button-up style, the Lilac color didn't look masculine to me.

Did Wantable for Men Work for Me?

I kept the Benton Short Sleeve Vintage Soft Shirt by Flag & Anthem and Power Fade Short Sleeve Polo by Glyder. I typically only pay $20-$30 for work shirts, but since Wantable's paying, I enjoyed getting some higher-end work polos. Go figure, most of my former work shirts have hit the dust, so I'm looking forward to seeing how long these items last in the Florida heat. I now have $372.50 credits remaining and plan to use them toward more work shirts.

My next box should arrive in about two weeks. But until then, you should catch up on my wife's reviews:
