My dog isn’t just part of my family—she is the family. If your floof is your child/bestie/obsession as well, welcome to the party. We’re going to show these little balls of perfection just how adored they are, so they won’t for a second forget it. Here’s how:
1. Fresh dog food
Throughout my upbringing, I saw time again how my grandmother and mom and aunts expressed their love for their people by filling their bellies with the best of the best. The best quality ingredients, the best recipes, and the freshest possible foods. I’m following suit by feeding Chloe fresh, human-grade food from The Farmer’s Dog. It was the easiest decision I’ve ever made. Because it’s real. 🥗
No other dog food can compare to the nutrient density, quality, and deliciousness of this food. 🐾 It’s made in kitchens without the use of preservatives, and arrives to me and Chloe within days of being made. The Farmer’s Dog ranges from approximately $3-13 per day, depending on the size and specific needs of your pup, and given that there have been tons of reports of fewer vet visits, increased vitality, healthier stools, and more, it’s worth that much and more to me.
2. The fluffiest bed
Just because my Goldendoodle has built-in fluff doesn’t mean she craves it any less than the next creature of comfort. My own bed was carefully arranged to be my own personal cloud, and yes, Chloe does spend a decent amount of time in there with me, but she deserves her own digs, too. While I’m downstairs working and she wants to stay close by, her plush bed is her favorite spot. It also looks really cute in my living room! 🛏️
3. Pet insurance
This is so legitimate, and yet seemingly everyone I talk to thinks it’s a scam. I’m here to say I’ve been grateful I’ve had pet insurance multiple times—once when Chloe had a cracked paw pad that got infected, and again when she caught kennel cough from the dog park. She’s only two years old, so she’s got a lot more doggy years left for the unexpected to occur.
With pet insurance, I know that getting her the care she needs will not be cost-prohibitive for me, no matter what. The reassuring thing about having her on the fresh dog food diet I mentioned above is that her daily dietary wellness gives her a better shot at fending off hip dysplasia and other issues associated with unhealthy weight.
4. A steady stream of toys and treats
There can never be too many! We subscribe to a box that sends new treats and squeaky toys to try each month. Though, since I know the benefits of fresh food for dogs, it’s not uncommon for me to toss Chloe a carrot or an apple while I’m eating my own. 🍎
Both are high in fiber, so they’re good for digestion, and they offer a slew of other nutrients just like they do for us. My neighbor’s dog is also super into green beans, which I find funny and cute!
5. Daily walks
I recently overheard someone say “I need to get better about walking my dog. I usually just let him out back,” and my mind was blown. Daily strolls are a non-negotiable for dog ownership! It’s important not only for their bodies and mobility, but also for their mental health and sense of bonding. It doesn’t have to be a daily marathon, but definitely get your pal out there on a leash every day! 🐕
Let your dog know your love is forever
A pup who is given ample opportunities for coziness, loving vet care, and exercise is a happy pup. But as I scan back through my own list, I’m seeing how often I keep coming back to feeding your dog a delicious and nutritious diet. That’s where the real love is!
Starting with this foundation will set your dog up for success in all other arenas, and nothing beats The Farmer’s Dog in convenience, flavor, value, and quality. 🙌
