Alltrue Box Review, Winter 2024

Judith Jacobson
ByJudith JacobsonDec 18, 2024 | 1 comment

It’s gotten cold and snowy here in Indiana and winter is indeed upon us even though it doesn’t technically start for a few more days. However, I already am in full winter (break) mode and am just trying to get through the last few days of classes before I can relax.

While the grey skies have put a bit of a damper on my mood, this box arriving on my doorstep was exactly what I needed to cheer me up. Alltrue is a quarterly subscription that provides a customizable curation of socially conscious lifestyle products. Their Winter 2024 box promised to be filled with items to make these dull grey days a bit more bearable.

The Cost: $79.95 per quarter + free shipping within the contiguous USA ($7.95 shipping Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, and US Territories), or $69.95 per box when you sign up for an annual subscription.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

How does Alltrue work?

Each Alltrue box contains 6-8 products.  There are different levels of customization available to their Annual and Seasonal subscribers.

From Alltrue:

Every seasonal box includes 6-8 sustainable, full size products, at sample size prices — and Annual Members get to customize the products that go in each box!

As a reviewer, I was able to customize all tiers of this box, and even received a few extra items for certain tiers. For the value breakdown, I will only include the items that I chose, not the extras. This season I focused on accessories, skincare and housewares.

The booklet that came with the box was longer and much more thorough than in past quarters.  Besides showing all the options for each category, it included some wintery recipes and reading, as well as a few coupon codes.

What's Inside The Alltrue Box?

The box came securely packaged in a bigger box.  I am glad there was the second layer of protection to keep it safe and dry because I do love the patterns of the Alltrue branded box.

Upon opening the box the booklet sits atop another layer of cardboard, which is then opened up to reveal my items. This size box was the perfect fit and nothing seemed to have shifted during transit.

This season's box had 6 categories.

Category 6

Daily Concepts Daily Dual Texture Scrubber - Retail Value $12

My skin gets super dry in winter AND it is sensitive. So I chose the Daily Dual Texture Scrubber to see if it would remove my dry skin like a scrub would, but without the possible irritants.  It is a two-sided shower scrubber with a little finger pocket so it doesn’t fly away if I’m using a moisturizing soap, which can be a bit slippery.

The coarse side was great for my legs, but I preferred the finer side for the rest of my body.  My favorite feature is the little tag that reads “replace me when writing fades.” It’s just the reminder I need for how long an item like this should last.

Category 5

TRNDLABS Pocket Lint Roller - Retail Value $29

As you may have noticed in some prior posts, I have a dog. Ginger has been part of our family for 3 years and I adore her. But, as many pet owners know, she sheds.

This lint roller is very compact and, like the scrubber, two-sided. Each side has its own cover. I’ve been keeping mine in the car so I can get rid of excess fur when heading out. I’m sure it would be fine to keep at home as well, but Ginger tends to say goodbye to me at the door to the garage. Honestly, I didn’t know I needed this until it arrived, and now I cannot imagine life without it.

Category 4

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream - Retail Value $29

Back to my sensitivities. The artificial fragrances do me in, but this does not have any - it is made with all natural ingredients. The outer packaging is an adorable cylinder and it holds the cream nicely so it doesn't get squished.

The creamy texture absorbs quickly and I did see a slight diminishment in my under-eye circles. I’m squeezing the last drops out of my current eye cream, so this will definitely be my winter replacement.

Category 3

Working for MSA has its privileges, and in this case it was an extra item for this level.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil - Retail Value $55

This was securely packed in a custom box that was then wrapped in a plastic bag. Nothing leaked, but in case it had it wouldn’t have gotten on anything. At first glance this brilliant blue oil has mess written all over it. It is a night treatment and not meant to be worn under makeup, so don’t let the color put you off. Once applied, it did leave a slight tint, though not enough to stain my white pillowcases.

None of the ingredients bothered my sensitive skin, they all passed the patch test. Just start out slowly, a little goes a long way, and it spreads out well. My skin was noticeably smoother in the morning.

Georgette Klinger Vitamin C Mask - Retail Value $36

Extra Item

I’m a daily vitamin C user, but have never seen it in mask form. This might be good for someone who wants more of a treatment or experience, than just another skincare layer. The mask is clay-based and meant to be used 2-3 times per week.

However, I didn’t try it due to my sensitive skin and the unspecified fragrance component, but I have a recipient in mind. She is someone who doesn’t use Vitamin C yet, but this seems like it would be an easy intro since it doesn’t require daily commitment. The type of vitamin C used in this mask, Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate, is known to be more stable and non-irritating, so this seems to be a safe bet as a gift, knowing she does not have any allergies.

Category 2

Jiggy Puzzles - Puzzle (450 pieces) - Retail Value $40 (Link to different puzzle by same artist)

Confession time: I’m not really into puzzles. I chose this because my kids are. And I’d choose it again if it gets them away from their video games for more than 20 minutes. They have not yet been given this puzzle as I’m saving it for winter break.

Not much was said about the title of this puzzle, but the booklet notes that it is by Sara Boccaccini Meadows. The puzzle includes a storage bag with a folded image printout.  It looks beautiful and I am excited to see the finished product, once I challenge my boys to complete it in a single afternoon.

Category 1

Once again, I was sent multiple options for this level.

Sembla Shallow Wood Serving Platter - Retail Value $59

This is the one that I chose. I know that there are millions of serving platters out there.  But this one just works.  It’s a simple shape with a strong grain which really shows off the tone of the wood beautifully. It could be used as a fruit bowl, to serve appetizers, or even as a catch-all on the kitchen island or hall table.

Also, this would also be great to pass on as a gift…but I want to keep it. One can never have too many pretty serving items.

Gogo Day Tripper Tote - Retail Value $58

This bag is huge. So big in fact, that it holds the other two Category 1 items and then some.

Even though this is in the winter box, it will be my go to pool bag in the summer, because I know that this can fit 4 full size towels, among other things. It also has interior and exterior zip pockets for smaller items, like goggles and sunscreen, plus a mesh interior pocket as well.

Alltrue Teddy Throw Blanket - Retail Value $75

In our house, winter means snuggling under blankets. We have all sizes, weights, and fabrics, but actually none like this one. It is super soft and cozy and the light grey color is a nice neutral that works with most decor.

Rolled up it is quite compact, but don’t let that fool you, when it is opened it’s a pretty good size (50” x 60”). It manages to cover two adults with no tugging.

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $79.95 per quarter + free shipping within the contiguous USA ($7.95 shipping Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, and US Territories), or $69.95 per box when you sign up for an annual subscription.

The Alltrue Winter 2024 Box contains 6 items. This subscription states a value up to $250+ in value per box.  My chosen items added up to a total of $224, which is a bit less than promised but still a superb value.

Alltrue’s Winter Box definitely got me through these past few weeks after the excitement of Thanksgiving, up until Christmas. This box does indeed make a great gift and there is still time to order before Christmas.

Overall, there were many good choices in each category and a nice blend of housewares, skincare and cosmetics, jewelry, and accessories. I was happy to find a few “safe” options for my sensitive skin, but there would have been plenty to choose from if I’d opted out of all skincare, as I often do with subscription boxes.

Oh, MSA, I was so hoping you listened to your readers and would stop reviewing this box that stole from so many. Alas, this is not the case. How wonderful as a reviewer you received extra items, Maybe all of us who were ripped off should say we are reviewers, too, and get what we paid for!
