There was no way I could dodge the early graying bullet. My mother had gray hair by the time she was 30, and sure enough, the moment I turned 30, the gray hairs appeared almost overnight. That’s when I learned that there’s only ONE gene that causes gray hair, and it accounts for 30% of us—this was shocking to me.
In the spirit of embracing gray-haired reality without losing sight of who I am, I set out on a mission to find the best treatment to prevent the grays from declaring a total victory. So I tried three popular options– Arey, Hey Hair, and Hair Mayraki–to see which brand is the ultimate winner in anti-aging hair care.
If You Actually Want to See Results... Arey
I’m going to be honest, when it comes to sticking to a hair care routine, I’m not always the best. Figuring out how to incorporate hair treatments into my regular beauty routine has never been my strong suit. With the Arey System, I’ve found that even if I don’t use it every day without fail, I still get consistent results. From the very first weeks, my hair looked healthier and more voluminous, which encouraged me to keep going!
You do have to be patient, though: it takes 1-2 months to notice balanced, less greasy, and visibly fuller hair. By 3-4 months, you’ll start seeing less gray growth overall and re-pigmentation of grays. I definitely did!
If You Want Science-Backed Solutions… It’s a Tie Between Arey and Hey Hair
In all areas, I always look for the actual science behind the claim. Both Arey and Hey Hair are formulated with clinically-studied ingredients that have shown remarkable results in preventing hair from going gray.
Moreover, Arey’s To The Root was specifically designed to include the least amount of ingredients your hair doesn’t need, ensuring maximum absorption and the best results without buildup or irritation!
If You Want a Duo of Products That Works From the Inside AND Out… Arey
All three products aim to repigment gray hair, but Arey stood out to me with The System Bundle, a duo that works from the inside-out and the outside-in.
The daily supplement, Not Today Grey, contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to help preserve your hair’s natural pigment. Not Today Grey was formulated by an internal medicine doctor, dietitian, and chemical engineer to supply your body with everything you need to increase the production of melanin and combat free radicals.
The topical serum, To The Root, is packed with peptides that slow and actually re-pigment gray hair. As an added bonus, the serum promotes thicker, fuller, and healthier hair, aka more volume! As someone with baby-thin hair, that was a huge bonus for me. And the included wide tooth comb for easy application was super helpful!
If You Like a Precise Application… Hair Mayraki
The Hair Mayraki serum includes a brush for precise application, which works very well if you have gray hair in one, concentrated area. However, you REALLY have to be careful to avoid hair that doesn’t need treatment.
Despite that, I personally preferred Arey to Mayraki’s Anti Grey Restoring Treatment, and here’s why: Mayraki has a tint that can stain your hair and scalp. I also didn’t like that it’s advertised as having no pigment, but upon further research, I discovered that some ingredients have a brown pigment. Not cool.
If You Prefer Non Toxic Products… Arey
I’ve made a resolution to switch my hair care products to be better for me and the planet this year. I love that Arey’s serums and products use non-toxic ingredients that are vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and are formulated without dyes or synthetic fragrances. If that’s also important to you, Arey products are far and away the best choice.
And the Winner is… Arey
Overall, Arey is the best option for preventing gray hair. This science-backed approach promotes healthier hair while slowing down the graying process, so you can feel good about your new hair care routine.
After using the Arey System for a few months, my hair is more lustrous, visibly fuller, and I can already see a difference in my grays. I can’t wait to see what changes the next few months bring!
