Armoire vs. Nuuly: Which Clothing Rental Service Is Actually Worth Your Time and Money?

If you’re like me, you love the idea of an ever-changing wardrobe without the commitment or clutter. I discovered clothing rental services a long time ago and never looked back. They’re the perfect way to mix things up without spending a tiny fortune or hoarding clothes you’ll only wear once. I’ve tried many services, but I’ve been between Armoire and Nuuly lately. After trying them both for a little while, one completely won me over. Let me break it down.

If you want a personalized experience… Armoire

One of the biggest things that set Armoire apart for me was how easy it was to find pieces I loved. From the start, their five-minute style quiz helped narrow my preferences and curated options that fit my vibe perfectly. Plus, if I ever needed a little extra help, their free personal styling made sure I always had the right pieces at my fingertips.

Nuuly, on the other hand, doesn’t offer a quiz to help you find your style. While you can save items you like to your “closet,” you’re left to scroll through its massive inventory and manually select your six pieces. While some people might enjoy that freedom, I found it a little overwhelming.

For more plan options that fit your budget… Armoire

Armoire gives you flexibility with multiple membership plans. Whether you want four items a month for $89, seven for $129 (first month $99), or unlimited swaps for $249 (first month $149), you can choose the plan that works best for you.

I personally love their unlimited plan which lets you swap your six rented items as often as you want, meaning you’re never stuck with something that doesn’t quite work. If I didn’t love an item or just wanted something fresh, I could return it and grab something else.

Nuuly, however, only has one option: six items per month for $98. If that setup works for you, great! But you're out of luck if you want more variety or swaps. Once you pick your six items, you’re committed to them for the entire month. If you don’t love something? Too bad. That lack of flexibility was a dealbreaker for me.

With Armoire, I loved having the option to start small and upgrade when I wanted more.

If you want a mix of high-end and every brands… Either or

This one really depends on your personal style! Armoire feels like borrowing from a high-end designer closet, with brands like Paige, Hutch, Equipment, and French Connection. If you’re looking for polished, versatile pieces to wear to work, events, or everyday life, Armoire is the way to go.

Nuuly leans more towards trendy, casual, and boho styles, featuring brands like Urban Outfitters, Farm Rio, and Levi’s. You might love their selection if your style is fun, relaxed, and a little eclectic. While I enjoyed some of the pieces, I personally preferred Armoire's elevated feel.

For hassle-free care… It’s a tie

Both Armoire and Nuuly take care of the laundry and dry cleaning for you, which is a huge perk. You also get free shipping and returns, plus the ability to pause or cancel anytime. In terms of overall convenience, they’re pretty evenly matched here!

In the end… Armoire stole my heart

While Nuuly has some great options for a trendy, laid-back wardrobe, Armoire gave me the high-end, flexible, and stress-free experience I was looking for. The personalized styling, designer selection, and unlimited swaps made it a clear winner in my book.

If you want to give it a try, you can get your first month of the Unlimited Plan for just $149. Trust me, once you start, you won’t look back!
