I Rarely Reach For Makeup Sets… Until Laura Geller Changed My Mind

It might surprise you, but as a makeup artist, I usually avoid buying makeup sets.

I know, I know – they’re convenient and affordable, but usually, the sets just don’t wow me. They have one or two products I like, and I have to regift the rest. Personally, I just prefer to mix and match products from different brands.

But after seeing just how many people love Laura Geller’s New Icons Kit (over 20,000 5-star reviews!), I knew I had to try it. It comes with 6 products – primer, foundation, lipstick, blush, eyeshadow palette, and kabuki brush.

Long story short: I’m blown away by every single product in this kit! Here’s how I use it to create a natural everyday makeup look.

My Step-By-Step Laura Geller Routine:

1. Spackle Primer: Apply this over clean and moisturized face to ensure the makeup lasts all day. I love how the formula makes it feel creamy at first before shifting to more of a gel-like texture. It feels hydrating without being greasy, perfect for all of my clients.

2. Baked Balance-n-Brighten Foundation with Retractable Angled Kabuki Brush: Spread the foundation evenly on your skin using the kabuki brush. The marbled shade melds together with the skin-adjusting pigment to match your skintone perfectly, creating a lightweight, flawless finish.

The soft kabuki brush helps pick up just the right amount of product to build the coverage up from light to medium with a streak-free blend. I love how it doesn’t settle into any lines or pores; it gives a beautiful, natural base for the face.

3. Serum Blush Cheek Tint (Practical Pink): Apply the blush with one nice swipe to each cheek for the perfect pop of natural color – just enough to look alive and brightened. Lightly tap the edges for a seamless blend.

This formula is infused with skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid and polysaccharides for hydration and moisture loss prevention, boosting that youthful look to the cheeks.

4. Baked Eyeshadow Quad (Pink Buttercream): Place the neutral eyeshadow(s) on the eyelid, and blend out as needed for a natural, elegant look.

I like using the top left shade as a shimmery pop in the inner corner or brow bone, and the pink shade and the shimmer shade on the eyelid itself. The brown is perfect for a bronzy look in my crease and outer corner, which is easy to build up for more depth and saturation.

5. Jelly Balm Hydrating Lip Color (A Latte Love): Apply the lip color to bring the whole look together. It feels like a tinted lip balm - very moisturizing while giving a beautiful wash of satiny pink color to the lips. It has ingredients like squalene and vitamin E for maximum hydration. I love using this on my clients who prefer more natural and understated lip colors.

Final Thoughts

Laura Geller really nailed it with the New Icons Kit. Every product is a total winner you need for a flawless, everyday makeup look. I found it incredibly easy to use and very versatile, with buildable products that really complement all kinds of skin, including my aging skin.

This kit is practically a steal for $69, (especially when you can use code MSA40 for 40% off *wink, wink*). Whether you’re a makeup pro or a beginner, I can’t recommend Laura Geller enough!
