I love Czech glass so opening Bead Crate is always a happy time for me. I have a tendency to stick with beadweaving projects but there are really a lot of other possibilities with each month’s shipment and I challenged myself to do something a little different this time. That’s the nice thing about bead subscription boxes, sometimes they include items you wouldn’t necessarily have bought for yourself, but you really get to exercise your creativity to use them (or to use standard items like firepolished rounds or druks in different ways). I liked the color palette this month, as well – it was great for a sunrise-themed box.

This was a wonderful month for me from BeadCrate. I have been very into pink lately for reasons I don’t understand, so the color theme this month was welcome. I made an effort to use bead types I don’t normally go for and I think it turned out well, so that’s encouraging. I was very excited to receive a new-to-market color of bead as well as a favorite finish (halo). And receiving several pairs of larger beads has got me thinking about how to work with small numbers of large beads in a way that’s not earrings – not that I don’t like making earrings, but I’d like to be a bit more creative than that.

I loved all the blues, whites, and purples this month, as well as the variety of finishes (matte, shiny, rainbow, AB, sueded gold). There were a lot of great basics here and really a lot of directions you could go with a project, including both bead stringing and beadweaving possibilities (Bead Crate works for both types of projects). Plus, my first real beading obsession was Czech glass so this subscription always makes me happy due to the amount of Czech glass.
