FabKids Overview

About the Brand

FabKids is a kids clothing subscription for boys and girls that was created to help busy parents discover the latest fashions for their kids all while remaining on a budget and having limited time to stop. FabKids realized how difficult it can be for most families to make time throughout the week to actually shop and that most stores have outrageous prices for apparel. As such, the company presented a solution to the problem by having its team of expert stylists find and share the most popular, fashionable clothing for kids that are all available at an affordable price. Customers of FabKids can sign up for the VIP membership that entails major discounts (up to 40% off) as well as rewards points that can be applied towards covering part of the cost of future purchases. Parents will have access to a wide range of apparel for girls and boys that includes seasonal and special edition collections, whole outfits, and individual items, such as shoes and shorts.

How FabKids Works

First, you’ll need to shop online at FabKids and select your favorite outfits and individual items. Once you’ve finished shopping, you’ll be presented with the option to sign up for a VIP membership which includes perks such as exclusive pricing and deals, personalized outfit picks and FabKids reward points.

Following the completion of your first order and after you’ve signed up for the VIP membership, you will then be charged $39.95 on the 5th of each month. This membership fee can be applied towards the final cost of your purchases for the current month or you can save your member credit and use your future purchases and this credit never expires.

In order to use your member credit for the current month, you’ll need to make a purchase sometime between the 1st and 5th day of the month. If you don’t see any new items that you like for the current month, you can choose to skip the month to avoid any upcoming charges. If you decide to cancel your membership you’ll need to do so by the 5th of the month in order to avoid your recurring charge. To cancel, you will need to contact customer service by a phone call or through accessing their live chat feature.

Pricing Options

FabKids lets you choose between purchasing items at retail value or as a VIP member. The VIP membership entails a recurring charge of $39.95 per month that can be applied towards your purchases or saved for future purchases. If you choose to not sign up for VIP perks, then you will pay retail price for each item.

Here’s an example of the difference in costs between standard and VIP memberships for the above outfits and shoes:

Is FabKids Worth It?

FabKids offers one of the most affordable options available today for a kids clothing subscription. Not only does it allow you to select your favorite items from among its multiple collections, but it also allows you to be in full control of your membership and you can skip buying items from the new month’s selection if you don’t see any apparel your child would like to try. FabKids is anywhere from ⅓ to ½ the cost of other similar services and is a great option for customers who like to handpick their child’s clothing and want their kids to stay in style yearound.

How FabKids Compares to Other Top Kids Clothing Subscriptions

FabKids VS Kidpik: Kidpik is a seasonal clothing subscription box for kids and tweens that customizes each kid’s clothing subscription box through the assistance of a personal stylist. Each Kidpik subscription box contains 7 pieces of a clothing along with a pair of shoes and accessories that make up 3 coordinated outfits.

The average Kidpix subscription box costs around $98 and there is also a fee of $20 for using a personal stylist, however, this fee will be credited toward any items you decide to keep. On the other hand, if you decide to return any items within the date provided, you will not be charged for the returned items, but the $20 styling fee will not be refunded.

Additionally, you only pay for what you keep and returns and exchanges are completely free of charge. Kidpik offers size ranges between sizes 2T - 16 and customers may choose a frequency of every 4,6, or 12 weeks for receiving their next order.

As you may have noticed, Kidpik is more expensive than FabKids, however, each box comes with 7 items that average out to around $14.00 per item, making it competitively priced compared to FabKids. If you go online to Kidpik’s website, you’ll also notice that there are more options altogether for apparel and that they are a much better option for boys clothing as they offer more items and style variations.

Altogether, Kidpik is a better kids clothing subscription overall due to its wide selection, but FabKids is a great option for customers who don’t want to commit to paying nearly $100 per box and are seeking a more affordable service.

FabKids VS Kidbox: Kidbox is a kids clothing subscription service that offers 4 different subscription box options, each containing name brand apparel and accessories. Its subscription box options are as follows: 5 ttem baby box for $68, 6 item kid box for $78, 8 item kid box for $98, and 10 item kid box for $110. After deciding which box you want to sign up for, Kidbox will ask you to select clothing styles you prefer and will then customize your box based on your preferences. You can even leave a note for your stylist if you’d like to provide more detailed instructions on the clothing items and styles you want.

Something that sets Kidbox apart from other kids clothing subscription boxes is that it offers both clothing for babies and kids and has sizes that range from NB - 24M for babies and 2T to 18 for kids. Kidbox ships 7 seasonal boxes a year and customers can select when they want them or to skip them completely. Kidbox allows customers to return any items within 14 days of receiving their box for a full refund and will only charge for the items that customers decide to keep.

The two main differences between Kidbox and FabKids is that Kidbox offers clothing for both kids and babies and that it does not allow customers to hand-pick their items, rather, a personal stylist will select the clothing for your box based on your preferences. Also, even though Kidbox is more expensive, its prices for individual items actually averages out to be somewhat cheaper. Thus, the main reason for customers to go with Kidbox would be to have access for clothing for babies and toddlers in addition to kids, whereas customers may choose FabKids over Kidbox due to the lower overall cost and also due to the fact that they have more control over item selection.

FabKids VS Stitch Fix Kids: Stitch Fix Kids is a kids clothing subscription that offers apparel for toddlers, kids and tweens. In order to start their subscription, customers will need to first provide Stitch Fix Kids with their intended price range along with their specific sizes and preferences. Stitch Fix Kids will then hand select 8-12 pieces of clothing to add to your box, with each item’s cost starting at around $10. After receiving their box, customers can have their kids try out each item and then send back any items that didn’t fit for a full refund or may exchange their items for something else.

Just like Kidpik, there’s a $20 styling fee per order, but it will be credited toward any items that the customer decides to keep. Customers can choose a frequency of every 1,2, or 3 months for their subscription box to be shipped.

Similar to Kidbox above, Stitch Fix Kids has the same differences to FabKids in that it also offers clothing for babies and toddlers in addition to kids and that customers cannot choose which clothing items to buy. As such, Stitch Fix Kids is best for customers will younger children who need assistance in selecting clothes whereas FabKids is best for customers who want to save money upfront and also have more autonomy in selecting their child’s clothing.

Just got our first box. The dress we got was unbelievable. It was so much more detailed and better quality than it looked in the pictures online. That said, I don't see myself keeping this one for long. My daughter is 9, and many of the clothes look like they're for younger children. She'll likely grow out of these styles within the next 6-12 months. The price isn't bad for a complete outfit, but with shipping thrown in I'm wondering if I could find better or more for the same price elsewhere. Still, it's easy enough to skip a month if I don't want anything, so I'll wait and see.

"Doesn't live up to the price"
Sep 22, 2021
I feel like the sticker price on this brand's clothes are more expensive than the quality calls for, and the boy's selection can be sparse compared to the girls. I'd say the clothing is about on par with what you'd get at Target or Old Navy, except that FabKids wants $40 per outfit if you let the monthly credit go through. If you only shop sales/clearance and use the new subscriber deal you can get more reasonable prices --- but that seems like a lot of extra trouble when you can just pop into your local Big Box store (or shop their app) and get comparable clothes for less. I guess the only upshot here is that your child likely won't see any other kids at school in FabKids clothes, if you care about that sort of thing.

I recently signed up for this subscription because the current sign up deal was just too good to pass up. Well, you get what you pay for! While the outfits to select from look cute in photos, the quality of the clothes is comparable to Walmart. That's fine at the sign up price, but once you are paying their standard price, even the VIP pricing, it is just not worth it. I have since cancelled my membership. Not a total loss, the outfits we received will look OK for 2-3 wears before they hit the donate box!

I've been using their service for a little over a year now. For the most part their outfits are absolutely adorable and you will get compliments from other parents/friends all the time. I've had a pair of pants and a couple of dresses start to come apart faster than I would have expected for the price, but given the number of pieces I've bought that haven't had that issue, I keep my subscription and continue purchasing pieces every now and then. The biggest complaint I have is that their shirts aren't long enough if your child has a long torso.

I've been a member for maybe 6 months now. I got boots and shoes my first time. The boots fell apart quickly, the other items have been fine. I've skipped most months, and forgot to skip the month I had my baby, so was charged giving me a credit. I used the credit for a dress and some leggings. I love both items. Good quiality and super cute dress. The leggings are the perfect thickness, not see through, and SO soft. I'll probably cancel at some point, but I'll order more leggings first.
