Maev’s story begins in 2018 when Katie Spies, Founder and CEO, and her Italian Greyhound faced unexplainable health issues. On a mission to help him live a long and happy life, Katie turned to a raw food diet in an attempt to resolve her dog’s health and began making her own homemade recipe and began to see drastic improvement. Noticing there was a need for this kind of diet within the pet community, Katie set out to build something bold, transparent, and trustworthy. After a few years spent attending business school, perfecting her own recipe, and researching alongside esteemed veterinary nutritionists and food scientists, Maev publicly launched in 2020. Since launch, Maev has sold 11 million meals and has seen triple-digit growth since launch.
