Boomstick Trio vs. Ogee Face Sticks: Which Face Sticks Work Best For Mature Skin?

When it comes to my makeup, “less is more” is my ethos. I like to keep it simple, and bonus points if I can pare my routine down to a few products that are easy to throw in my bag! My favorite way to keep my look simple? Multitasking face sticks. I have a caveat, though: the sticks I buy have to work for mature skin. That means buying makeup that hydrates, doesn’t settle into fine lines, and performs all day.

The Boomstick Trio from BOOM! by Cindy Joseph has been a go-to of mine for a long time, but I’m also a fan of Ogee’s Face Sticks. I’m going to let you in on my favorite for mature skin:

1). Best performance on mature skin

The Boomstick color sticks are pigmented, but they dragged a little on my dry skin when I applied them. I spent quite a bit of time buffing out the blush, highlighter, and face base moisturizer, so they weren’t as blendable as I’d hoped. The Ogee Face Sticks were sheerer, but I felt like the colors separated and settled into my fine lines.

Both brands weren’t quite hitting the mark, and then I discovered the PrimeWand Trinity. The berry tint in the PrimeWand Pigment conceals age spots, sun spots, and liver spots, because they have purple overtones.

Right away, I noticed the Nourish, Pigment, and Pearl sticks are super blendable and hydrating to my mature skin. The colors start out sheer, but they’re buildable. Overall, these sticks are so much creamier and colorful than the Boomstick or Ogee sticks. They’re perfectly formulated for my dry, over-50 skin!

2). Best natural, youthful glow

Having a natural glow is a top priority for me. Some of the Ogee Face Sticks have a nice, buildable shimmer, but they also have some matte options that I wouldn’t use. When I wore the Boomstick shades, my makeup looked too heavy–the shimmer in particular was too pink for my skin tone.

I have to say, The PrimeWand Trinity sticks shocked me! The compact moisturizer, Nourish, lessened the appearance of my fine lines, and the combination of the Pigment and Pearl sticks gave me a lit-from-within glow, but I also looked like me!

3). Best price point

The Boomstick Trio costs $79, and a set of 3 Ogee Face Sticks will run you $126. In this scenario, the Boomstick Trio is my winner.

Then I found my holy grail at the best price of all–The PrimeWand Trinity costs $71, and while I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more for high-performing products, trust me when I say that the PrimeWand Trinity is by far the best stick trio. My face looks so alive when I mix all three products together, and the price is so good I’ve already reordered them!

4). Highest-quality ingredients

Boomstick Trio guarantees that all their products are cruelty-free, and they’re made without phthalates, parabens, binders, or added ingredients. Ogee Face Sticks take it a step further–they claim to have 83% organic ingredients, they’re all-natural, GMO-Free, gluten-free, and also cruelty-free.

To me, the PrimeWand Trinity takes the cake here. The PrimeWand sticks are made with premium ingredients like pearl extract, honey, hyaluronic acid, and bioactive nutrients, which really shine through in the creamy formulas! And did I mention they’re hypoallergenic and full-body friendly, too?

My Verdict

I wasn’t expecting to love the PrimeWand Trinity as much as I did, but I’ll be exclusively buying from Prime Prometics from now on. My mature skin has never looked healthier and glowier, and my favorite part of it all is that I’m creating my look with just three compact sticks. Don’t wait–you need these!
