Growing up, my grandma only used humidifiers when I got sick. How many Latinx here can instantly smell the Vaporub scent after reading that first sentence? 🙋‍♀️Plain and simple: humidifiers were nothing to be excited about.
Fast-forward to today, and every cool brand and influencer is showing off their new humidifiers for their skincare and overall wellness benefits:
- hydrates dry skin, eyes, and lips
- combats cold and flu symptoms
- promotes better sleep and prevents snoring
- diminishes wrinkles and gives skin a dewy glow
- improves the efficacy of skincare products
- reduces the effects of asthma or allergies
So obviously, I needed to get one too! Because I’m a skeptic and product tester at heart, I decided to try out Canopy, Vitruvi, and Dyson to see which one I would keep…
If you’re looking for a multitasker: Canopy
Okay, technically, the Dyson is also a multitasker, but let me explain why I choose Canopy as my winner. I’m obsessed with everything that makes my home smell good: candles, diffusers, potpourri–you name it. I was sold when I saw the Canopy humidifier comes with its own scent puck to double as a diffuser. Bonus points for the fact that they partner with brands like Laneige and Prose to create delicious-smelling blends with 100% pure essential oils.
Now, instead of running my old diffuser and humidifier at the same time, I can simplify my routine and keep everything in one place. One product that does it all will always have my heart.
If you want a humidifier you won’t feel ashamed to show off: Canopy & Vitruvi
My old humidifier has gotten me through some serious sick days, but it’s anything but pretty: it looks like a tiny laundry machine. I hate the look of it so much that I keep it hidden in the back of my closet and hardly ever use it.
If aesthetics are your main thing, then definitely keep your choice between Canopy and Vitruvi. The Vitruvi is sleek and modern; it legit has an award from Architectural Digest. But Vitruvi colors are very limited, so I preferred the Canopy here, too: they literally have nine color options to choose from!
If you’re looking for high-tech: Dyson
Like always, Dyson comes out on top for their super high-tech stuff. If that’s what you’re looking for, the Dyson connects to your phone through an app and voice services. But IMO, techier doesn’t always mean better. For a whopping $939.99, it should wash my dishes and walk my dog, too! The Canopy humidifier comes in at a close second because it has an auto sensor to maintain optimal moisture day and night—and it only costs $150. There, I just saved you $790!
If you don’t like mold: Canopy
My biggest qualm with my old, ugly humidifier was how often I had to clean it. Despite regular and thorough efforts to keep it looking and smelling fresh (including weekly scrub sessions and only using distilled water), it seemed like my old humidifier was constantly growing mold. Yeah, ew.
One of the things I love about the Canopy humidifier is the fact that it’s mistless and has unique technology that fights mold. The sensor keeps the unit running until it’s 100% dry inside, so there’s no water left behind, aka mold won’t grow there (although, it is dishwasher safe too).
The clear winner: Canopy!
In the end, Canopy sold me. I love how simple and easy it is to use, and the fact that it’s mistless is a huge bonus. Unlike most humidifiers that shoot out a conspicuous plume of steam, the Canopy humidifier’s auto setting works in “incognito mode” to give me peace of mind that I’m maintaining optimal air moisture all day long.
If you’re anything like me and you appreciate an effortless addition to your home that improves both your skin and overall wellness, I could not recommend Canopy more.
