I couldn’t calculate a total value for the February 2021 Beauteque Mask Maven because many of the items were not available from reliable and/or U.S.-based retailers. It’s interesting to me that you can pick one ingredient (milk extracts, in this case) and build a whole themed box around it, and still come away with such a variety of different masks. As it happens this month, a lot of the masks have ingredients that are expected to exert effects over time instead of right away, so I feel like I couldn’t make very many conclusions as to effectiveness, but everything was fun to try and a lot of the masks were new to me (though I’ve definitely used the A’Pieu strawberry milk mask before and also at least one of the NOHJ Milky Glow masks before, and a different one of the yogurt masks). I’d say this was a fairly typical package from Mask Maven and I’m also glad their shipping seems to be back on track after a delay with the December package – I’ve experienced a lot of delays in the past few months and not every subscription box has managed to turn things around.
Mask Maven is always fun for me. There are rarely repeats and I enjoy looking up all the ingredients (when I can find them in English) to see what they’re supposed to do. I also just enjoy spending a few minutes relaxing while using sheet masks, and my skin is nevermore moisturized than the week or so after I receive this package.
I couldn’t calculate a total value for the December 2020 Beauteque Mask Maven because many of the items were not available from reliable and/or U.S.-based retailers. Although this package was quite late, Beauteque was forthcoming about the lateness and included a 10th item to make up for the delay, which I think is a nice touch. Of course, as subscription box enthusiasts, we are all aware that domestic shipping was greatly disrupted due to the holidays and COVID-19, but international shipping was as well. At any rate, I was pleased to try a lot of masks that were new to me, including some completely new brands. I can’t say I felt there was an overarching theme for the month but, on the other hand, there was more variety than some past months, which have been heavy on a single ingredient like aloe or charcoal. I would say the item types received this month are fairly typical of what you can expect from this subscription.
