Freebird vs. Amazon Dupes: Which Head Shaver Is the Best?

Every morning it’s the same drill: roll out of bed, brush teeth, shave my head, then bee line for coffee.

The shaving of the head part had room for improvement. It was an annoying process with shaving cream and such, and I kept getting razor burn on my neck.

I’d been hearing rave reviews about Freebird® but I had to see for myself whether it was really worth it when it’s double the cost of some Amazon options. I decided to put Freebird® plus two dupes to the test and see what’s what.

After weeks of shaving with the FlexSeries™ by Freebird®, the SHPAVVER Shaver, and the TIKILEAN Shaver, here’s what I found.

The fastest, cleanest head shave going…Freebird

I appreciate tradition, but the traditional razor is one I’m happy to put to rest. Any head shaver is going to be quicker than a traditional razor because the ergonomic handle lets you reach tougher spots (like the entire back of your head) without having to use a mirror and shave cream. But now I know all electric shavers are not all created equally…at all.

Freebird® shaves my head fastest (I clocked in at 93 seconds), and without any nicks, scrapes, or razor bumps in sight. I can rely on this speed and efficiency shave after shave.

I really thought the SHPAVVER and TIKILEAN would be able to play ball here, but the truth is the SHPAVVER made loud grinding noises that terrified me, and the TIKILEAN actually tugged at my skin. Nope.

The one with the most blades…SHPAVVER

Why yes, the SHPAVVER head shaver does have 7 rotary blades, but why? I do not know, because clearly 7 is not necessary when the Freebird® FlexSeries™ five blades do the job better.

The SHPAVVER simply did not provide as close of a shave. As for the TIKILEAN? Well, it gave out on me entirely during my third use, so its six blades are officially useless.

The one with the longest battery life…Freebird

Here’s where they get you. All three are marketed to have a 90-minute battery life. And at first, they do. But slowly over time, the battery life started to degrade for two head shavers in particular. Can you guess which ones? Freebird® is the only one of the three that maintains that 90 minute battery life long-term.

SHPAVVER’s full charge started to last only 10-15 minutes. I’m not sure about the TIKILEAN since its motor kicked the bucket after just a few shaves, but I’ve read reviews that have said their TIKILEAN wouldn’t charge past 90% after a certain point. Yikes.

The one with the best value…Freebird

You probably could’ve seen this coming, but the quality is evident in the cost of these shavers. The Freebird® FlexSeries™ Shaving Kit costs $59.95 on Amazon, which includes not only the most reliable shaver of the three, but also a lifetime warranty and five free attachments that trim your beard, shave your back, manscape your groin, all with the same grooming kit! A brand that stands by their product is telling.

The TIKLEAN Electric Head Shaver is priced at $21.99, and the SHPAVVER Detachable Electric Head Shaver costs $45.99. But I’m about to blow your mind because the Freebird® FlexSeries™ is currently on sale for $39.95 on their website for Black Friday, so you’re actually in a rare position to grab the top quality shaver for an unbeatable value.

The old saying rings true: “You get what you pay for.”

Freebird is so obviously the winner it’s almost embarrassing

Everyone has curiosity about Amazon dupes, but they’re a risk. And in this case they were a HUGE waste of money.

If you're seeking a balance of quick and thorough performance, battery longevity, attachments, and the trust that your shaver will last for the long-haul, the Freebird® FlexSeries™ Shaving Kit is it.
