Nom Nom vs. Ollie: Here’s My #1 Choice for Dog Food

Like most dog moms, I’m always on the lookout for ways to give my fur baby the best. Considering that he’s getting older (I can’t believe he’s 9 already!), I want to make sure I’m feeding him something that’ll keep him up and running for as long as possible. I know nutrition plays a huge role in keeping my pup happy and healthy, so I started exploring gently cooked food brands beyond the typical options.

That’s when I came across Nom Nom and Ollie—two gently cooked dog food brands that promise high-quality, nutritious meals delivered right to your door. After trying both, I discovered there’s only one that my dog prefers.

Taste: Nom Nom for the Win

There’s nothing better than seeing my dog genuinely excited for his food. Every time I open a pack of Nom Nom’s meals, it’s like Brixton knows what’s coming, and he practically prances over to his bowl! He absolutely loves the Beef Mash and Turkey Fare

With Ollie, he’d eat it, but there wasn’t that same excitement, and sometimes he’d even leave a little behind. The difference is pretty clear to me—he’s genuinely more thrilled about Nom Nom meals, and that tells me he prefers the taste.

Convenience: Nom Nom’s Pre-Portioned Packs Save Me Time

Both brands are definitely more convenient than other brands, especially when life gets busy. But where Nom Nom shines is in its perfectly pre-portioned packs. Each meal is ready to serve without any need for measuring or scooping, which means I’m never second-guessing the right amount to serve him.

Ollie does come with a handy scoop, but it takes a bit more time to get the portions right, and I sometimes worry about overfeeding.

Quality Standards and Ingredients: A Tie

Both brands place a high emphasis on quality, which is honestly one of the biggest reasons I was drawn to them. Nom Nom’s meals are made with proteins and vegetables sourced from trusted U.S. suppliers, and they meet AAFCO nutritional guidelines, so I know Brixton’s getting balanced nutrition in every bite. Ollie is similar in that it uses high-quality ingredients and has some clear sourcing standards.

In this category, I didn’t find a big difference between the two, and it feels good knowing that both options are committed to health and safety in what they provide.

Personalization: Nom Nom’s Tailored Meal Plans

One of the things I love about Nom Nom is the personalized approach they take from the start. They ask for detailed information about my dog’s age, breed, weight, any allergies, and even protein preferences. With that information, they created a meal plan just for my little golden retriever, down to the specific calorie count he needs.

Ollie does offer options to choose from, but I felt that Nom Nom’s approach felt a little more tailored and precise. For a dog mom who worries about every little detail, that level of customization is reassuring.

Final Verdict: Nom Nom is Our Winner!

After trying both Nom Nom and Ollie, I’m sticking with Nom Nom for my dog’s main meals. The convenience of the pre-portioned packs, the tailored meal plan, and most importantly, Brixton’s clear enthusiasm for it at mealtime make Nom Nom the best choice for us—his tail doesn’t stop wagging!

So for anyone considering a diet switch for their dog, give Nom Nom a try. Your pup will thank you :).
